Real Name: Berwald Oxenstierna

Personality: Berwald was slightly talkative and usually happy as a younger nation. He was playful, often liking to have rough play and have small scuffles with the other young children or his fellow Scandinavians. Around the time of the Kalmar Union, he closed himself in. He became quiet and calm, hiding his emotions from the other nations around him. It was until he found himself alone with a very terrified Finland that he loosened up a bit, trying to ease the Finn's nerves. He is a gentle giant with good intentions; but as giants are usually seen as cold, scary, and annoying, this stereotype is often pinned on him. Even though he accepts the stereotype without a word, he truly hates it inside, feeling that judging a book by its cover is not the nicest way to judge a person. When a person does get to know him as a friend, they are met with a small shell that keeps people from trying to get to know about his personal life, often having him come off as antisocial or distant. He has difficulty voicing what he says in his mind, so his sentences that are supposed to be long are usually shortened or are only split in half. Some people believe it is because of a bad blow to the head as he fell, but it is because he is only shy to say how he truly feels inside. He gets very awkward while holding long conversations, but he will often try his best to speak clear enough for the other to understand him or for the conversation not to become an awkward one. It also is just because of the way he speaks in English, but he doesn't really know it is his accent that prevents him from speaking correctly. Berwald loves to work hard, and he does everything to the best of his abilities, as compliments make him happy. As much as compliments make him happy, he will happily accept a ‘thank you’ for his work, liking to be appreciated. He takes how people feel into great consideration, and he will try to cheer up any person that seems down to him. If he is rejected by the other, he is patient with them, but if it is clear that they do not want his help, he will give up on trying and just leave. His patience is great, due to growing up around young children. On the subject of children, the man loves the youths and is a family man, finding having a family enjoyable and fun. He tends to care or take in any young child that happens to be an orphan and crosses his path at any moment, and he will gladly care for them. He does not mind have many friends, as the children often make up for his lack of friends. Though Berwald does like being alone most of the time, he will enjoy being in the company of good people and good friends. If one were to get close enough to him to where they would gain his trust, he would become extremely loyal to that person, willing to sacrifice his life for them and doing anything to make them happy. He also becomes protective of that person, a usual sign that Berwald likes a person as a friend.

Strengths: Quite powerful, not scared easily, can take hits, can maintain a serious atmosphere, not always so serious, sewing, building items, and cooking

Appearance: As a child, Berwald was usually the tallest one out of any child he met. His immense size was usually met with awkward stares, but they were returned with a stare that was met with laughter. He was, to say the least, slightly less than average in size for his height. Therefore, he often dresses in clothes that don't fit him. His clothes were often plain, preferring not to look elaborate yet at the same time, modest. They tended to be either one color or simply designed. His clothes were often loose, as he liked to be comfortable in what he wears. His eyes were a light blue of a color while he was young, but as he grew up, they gradually changed to a green-touched blue color combination. (The green isn't that noticeable.) His build started to fit in with his height as he grew up, and he gained muscles due to the work he did around his home, adding to his growing build. His vision was perfect, until an incident happened to him around this time that caused him to have bad eyesight. Because of his horrid eyesight, he wore glasses to fix the problem. Berwald’s glasses just added to his scary face, making the turquoise colored eyes appear more threatening. His common stare is enough to scare people away from him, and his usual neutral expression usually startles people when they look him in the face. He tends to want to keep a neutral look, so he does not smile or frown as most people would. When he does smile, it is usually restrained or just a tiny smile. His light blonde hair is spiky, and if not, it is messy. The bangs fall around the top of his eyebrows, and his hair falls around the middle of his neck. With skin color, he is pale, but he does not tan easily as most would, as he spent most of his time in the sun and rarely ever tanned. Most people tend to shy away from him because of his height and countenance, but those who know the man ignore his scary physical appearance.

Other: Homosexual (doesn't like to show it in public), speaks other Nordic languages quite well (except for Finnish, Icelandic is slightly grouped into this), "Lion of Northern Europe", likes little children, and often enjoys stories about the Viking age or stories of Norse myth.
