Ooc:// Accepted! Lets start!

Bic:// The sounds of the rawdy student body of Cresent High echoed through the thin trees of Hallow Wood. Dezzera toyed with the silver pentacle hanging around her neck as she studied the array of costumes bustling around the tree log she and her friends had taken residence on. So far, she counted over twenty black cats and even more withces. Well, there had been one white cat. (Wow, how creative...) Among the sparkly whiskers, jangling collar tags, pointy hats, and colorful broomsticks, there were also dead cheerleaders, dead brides, and dead... well, she wasn't sure what that girl was supposed to be. A dead nerd? Or just herself with some white powder?

Moving on, in the center of a group of shirtless cavemen and wrestlers, stood a bleach blond girl all dressed up in some lacey black dress that obviously came from an over-priced Halloween store. Her fishnets had spiders woven in and she even had a pentagram drawn in Sharpie across her wrist. The girl finally noticed Dezzera's judging stare and raised an eyebrow at her. Catching her gaze, Dezz finally laughed at the sad display of a Wicca costume and rolled her eyes as the girl muttered something, probably along the lines of "Freak."

Dezz turned her attention back to her two friends, and asked, with a smirk still across her blood red lips, "Why are we here again?"

"Because I'm supposed to be keeping on eye on the younger," Emma replied, emphazing the "suppose to" in her sentence. She didn't look up as she continued to pick at the frayed edge of her skirt, tearing it further. She didn't want to come to this Halloween bash, where she knew she didn't belong. But Sophie had wanted to come hang out with her friends and her friends were here. Emma had been assigned the wonderful job of keeping Sophie out of trouble, though she didn't take her responsiblities very seriously.

"And where is the baby sister?" Dezz asked as her eyes once again wondered to the crowd, immediately seeing an obnoxious tulle and sequins princess. Dezz had to squint to get a good look at the neon hot pink fabric and discoball-like stelleto heels. Finally having to look someplace else, Dezz scanned the crowd for the destinct blond head of Sophie, but she was no where to be seen.

Emma barely glanced around before she shrugged and muttered, "No idea." She returned to the strings of her skirt that were just begging to be pulled on.

Jason emergered from the mass of dancing bodies, panting heavily and walking in a not-so-straight line towards the drink table. All the cups were filled with strange colors, and Jason just grabbed the first one he came to, which happened to be some sort of lime green. He guzzled down the liquid in record time, grabbing another as he walked away. He leaned against one of the trees that bordered the small clearing that had been transformed into a dance floor and watched the bouncing bodies sway in time to the loud beat.

Feeling something damp on his chest, Jason glanced down at his white silk shirt and noticed a blue stain. He slightly remembered a few drinks being spilled inside the crowd and figured thats all it could be. Besides, it kind of went with his rugged pirate costume, though it didn't match as well as the paid for brown stains. Because his torn black pants and red satin belt were still in perfect condition, Jason felt no need to whine or complain.

Instead, he lifted his eyepatch and searched the crowd for Sophie and Rafa, having lost track of them on the dance floor. At that moment, he could use a break from the stuffy atmosphere, but he didn't want to go alone. Setting his cup of red liquid on the ground, Jason made his way through the crowd in search of his friends. Perhaps they could use a break as well.

Kaden shrugged as Dezzera asked why they were here. He had figured Emma's answer. The only time they ever came to parties like these were when they were watching her younger sister. Though to tell the truth, Kaden wasn't even sure she actually knew where her half sister was. Her response to Dezz only proved his point. "How much longer?" He asked quietly. Normally, he wouldn't have cared if they stayed here or not. He just would have followed whatever his friends did. Tonight was different, though. Kaden didn't feel comfortable on Halloween. All the pretending and acting as if the evil stuff was such a fun thing wasn't the most settling thing to watch.

Not to mention he was bored out of his mind. He guessed he could stay here a little while longer, for Emma's sake, but watching over her sister was getting to be tiring. After all, they were only older by a year, and Emma's parents should have seen how annoyed their daughter was at Sophie. If not, well... actually it wouldn't be that surprising.

~~

Rafa was lounging against one of the trees, sipping a coke, when she spotted Jason on the other side of the crowd. There was still no sign of Sophie, and Jason seemed to be looking for them, so she waved her hand to get his attention. Any other girl most likely would have been self-conscious in the outfit that Rafa was wearing, but she could care less what 'other girls' thought or how they perceived her. What mattered were her real friends who, she was starting to get, didn't care how she dressed or looked. They only worried about who she was. Which was troubling in a 'I don't know how to feel about that' kind of way, but very comforting to a certain degree.

Rafa wasn't used to feeling comfortable, so it was a good feeling. Her black dress stood out in the crowd, despite the fact there were so many witches and ghosts around, decked up in gauze and linen and bedsheets. Rafa opened her mouth a bit and brought her red cup up to her lips, sipping her coke with care. The fake fangs she was wearing were hard to keep on while she was eating or drinking, but she decided not to take them off because it would be too much of a hassle. They weren't those cheap ones that you just stuck in your mouth. They were the ones you used a cream to stick to your canine teeth.

Bringing down her drink, Rafa leaned against the tree a bit more, letting the metal belt across her hips dangle and clank together. She fingered her red jewel necklace idly, thinking of how Halloween was the only holiday she ever really dressed up for. Any other day, she'd rather be caught dead than in a dress.

Ooc:// Thanks, Moki. That was just a typo. I must not have been paying attention. Anyways, I just wanted to point out that Emma and Sophie are only one year apart, and the party is also out in the woods, not in a room. I just wanted to clear those things up.

Ooc:// Egg - Yes, they will come after that. You can join as another character if you want so you don't have to wait, but they should be finding the cave soon.

There was a reason Emma hadn't spotted her half sister. Sophie was going out of her way to avoid her. After a while of living with Emma, who seemed to absolutely hate her, Sophie had learned it was best to simple stay out of her way. Noticing Rafa and Jason, she made her way over to her two friends, all the while struggling to avoid Emma. "Hey," she murmured quietly to Rafa, having to move close to be heard over the constant shouts and laughs of the other party-goers.

Sophie found herself enjoying the party less and less though. At first it had been fun, but now the loud sounds were beginning to give her a headache, and she was feeling unexplicably tired. Well, it had been a fairly rough week. One particularly awful teacher had given the whole class a mountain of extra homework because one student was being especially rowdy and obnoxious that day.

So tons of homework plus a rather exhausting, chaotic party. And she had barely gotten any sleep the past few nights. Sophie glanced at a nearby drink table and grabbed a soda, the caffiene and sugar rejuvinating her some.

Emma turned her head to look at Kaden with her head tilted almost completely to the side. "That is a question for my sister," she said, swinging her head back to face large crowd of people that Emma knew of, but of course she did not know any of them personally. Emma liked it that way, though. Their world meant caring what people thought of you and looking your best each day and being afraid of being yourself. And that was not a world Emma was particular fond of.

Still scanning the many bodies for any sign of Sohpie and coming up empty handed, Emma sighed heavily. "She seems to have disappeared," she nearly growled, growing more and more frustrated as everytime she looked for Sophie, her blonde head was no where around.

Suddenly, Dezzera shot up from her sitting postion, hands on hips. "Well maybe it's time to go find that little bugger," she suggested, a bright smile light her face. The grin dimmed as her eyes registered the annoyed look plain on Emma's face. "Come on. You do want to get outta here, don't you?"

Emma groaned but stood up anyways. "Yeah, you're right," she admitted. "Lets go tell her the party's over." Emma started walking on the outskirts of the dancing crowd, unknowingly coming closer and closer to where Sophie was standing.

(Windancer -I thought that they could be chased into the woods because Sophie is trying to hide from Emma. Just a thought...)

-~-

Jason noticed Rafa's waving hand and quickly trotted over to her, making it over a moment after Sophie. Just before he greeted them, his eyes were distracted by a dark shining red which could only belong to one person. Although Jason didn't know her name, he knew she was Emma's best friend. Sure enough, just in front of the red head was Sophie's half-sister. "Sister alert," he called over the cheering crowd, quickly stepping on the other side of Sophie, blocking her from Emma's view. "Better think of an escape plan quick," he whispered to Sophie and Rafe, glancing over his should every couple of seconds to keep track of how close Emma was.

Kaden shrugged at Emma's response. To be honest, the reply somewhat hurt him - the way it was so curt and dismissive. Though Kaden tried not to think about it too much. Emma was his friend, after all. She wouldn't do anything like that to him on purpose. Or at least he told himself that enough to believe it. He wasn't too keen on Dezz's idea, but he decided to join them anyways. It was a good enough plan to get them the heck out of here finally. Maybe they could even head somewhere fun, like to the movies to see a horror film, or maybe to an older party where it was actually fun.

Although it was out of character for Kaden, all he wanted was to distract himself. The worries of Halloween didn't apply when he forgot about them. Right now, getting away from all the costumes seemed to be the best idea, so he hopped down from the tree they had been sitting up in and landed gracefully. Flexing his huge shoulders, Kaden made his way around the boundaries of the crowd, following Emma and Dezz like a dog. In retrospect, maybe not the coolest way to be perceived, but Kaden would much rather follow them than any of the idiots dancing around them.

~~

Rafa found herself smiling when Sophie seemed to appear out of nowhere. She would have said hey back, but the annoying noise of teenagers in their element drowned out any voice that she bothered to use in order to speak. She figured her smile was enough of a greeting. When Jason appeared, Rafa couldn't help but think, And now the trio is complete... because in truth, she found these two to be comforting. Other people... just didn't fit with her.

At the warning, Rafa stiffened. She noticed Dezzera immediately, that shining amulet giving her away before anything else. Right behind her was Sophie's half sister, Emma. The one who hated her just cause she could. Although that annoyed Rafa, since Sophie had been a great person since she had met her, she decided not to do anything about it. In part, because she knew that it might cause problems for Sophie, and also because for some strange reason, she didn't feel the need to when her friends were near her. It was a strange feeling; she liked it. Then came the third one, a guy with bulky muscles and a quiet outlook. She wouldn't have even noticed him if he hadn't stood next to Emma and Dezz.

When Jason suggested an escape plan, Rafa nodded gladly. "I second that notion." She looked around from tree to tree in search of somewhere they could get in where Emma and her friends wouldn't find them. She helped Jason to hide Sophie by standing on her other side, making Sophie nearly invisible. "I think I know how we can get away," She said suddenly, pointing to a narrow path a few feet away from the drink tables.

Sophie spotted the tiny, almost unnoticable path immediatly, anxiously pulling Jason and Rafa behind her, struggling to avoid Emma. "Hurry!" she said, struggling to keep her blonde hair hidden. Considering the crazy, spontaneous colors others had, it wasn't as hard as it normally was. She tugged Rafa and Jason along urgently, their hands grasped firmly in hers as she dragged them into the woods.

She glanced behind her, hoping her half-sister hadn't followed. Sophie, noticing Dezzera, Emma, and Kaden, glanced around for an escape route, a hiding spot....anything, really. She just really, really wanted to avoid Emma. Dashing deeper into the trees, her eyes picked out what looked like a mine shaft. Glancing at the sign on the door that clearly read "Do not enter!" and "Caution: Danger!" she ignored the warnings, slipping inside, pulling her two friends in behind her.

Ooc:// Sorry not to post for so long. Alot of things have been going on lately and I haven't been in the creative mood latey.

Egg - The ghosts haven't come in yet. They will come after Sophie opens the door inside the mineshaft.

Bic:// Emma glanced at every sight of blond hair or blue dress that caught her eye, but none of the faces she looked at belonged to her sister. Finally, she did see two people whom she recognized, and they seemed to be hiding something, or someone, between them. Sure enough, as Emma got closer, she was sure it was Rafa and Jason. Just before she could shout to them, they ran. With Sophie leading them.

With a loud groan, Emma took off after them, having trouble keeping up in the crowd. She soon lost sight of them, and gave up on the chase. She leaned against a tree, panting from the run. Dezzera ungracefully plopped to the dirty ground, breathing heavily. "I have come to the conclusion that she is avoiding you, Emma," Dezz said with a smirk. Emma just glared down at her friend.

-~-

Jason had no choice but to follow Sophie as she pulled him and Rafa along by their hands. He hesitated in front of the mine shaft, about to protest going side, but Sophie had yanked them inside before he could get out a single word. Finally stopping from their flight, Jason said, "I have a feeling we shouldn't be in here."

Glacning around in the dark, he could just make out a wooden door that had strange symbols carved into it. Despite his earlier words, he walked closer to the door for a better inspection. He recognized the symbols as a language, though he had no idea what they said. "I wonder what this means," he said as he traced a couple of the symbols with his finger.

Ooc:// Windancer - I wasn't sure wait kind or color costume Sophie has on, so I just went with blue because it's a pretty color.

Kaden wasn't sure what to do after the search for Emma's sister had turned into a dud. He looked to his left and right and didn't see the girl anywhere. He huffed in dissapointment, thinking on overdrive for no particular reason. As soon as Dezz spoke, Kaden clenched his jaw. For some reason, that girl was beginning to annoy him. Maybe it was because he was too overprotective or maybe it was for an entirely differen reason altogether, but either way, he wasn't comfortable around her. Which is why he refused to talk much at the moment.

Instead, he simply nodded his head and followed after the group silently. When he had first met Dezz, he didn't have anything against her. Even now, he didn't hold any special anger. In a way... he just deemed her annoying. The way she talked and decided to answer him earlier just didn't go well with him, and Kaden was very defensive when it came to other people. He only let in certain ones he knew he could trust. Now that the trust was breaking a bit... well... it wasn't good. Squaring his shoulders, he tried his best to shrug off the irritating feeling he was getting in his chest, making it feel heavy and overpowering.

"Where next?" He asked Emma, not sure if he'd be able to handle Dezz's answer.

~

Rafa chuckled softly. She could tell Jason didn't like being here, and of course she had her own reasons to be iffy, but c'mon. They were just living the moment. What could go wrong in a silly little shaft like this? "Relax, it's just an old mine shaft," she said to Jason, trying to ease his nerves. Usually she wasn't big on comforting others, but with Jason and Sophie, she managed to make an exception. Besides, this would be no fun at all if any one of them decided to turn tail and run back to Emma.

When Jason began tracing the sign, Rafa narrowed her eyes, trying to decipher it but clearly losing the fight with letters she didn't understand. Was that thing even in a modern day language? It had to have been... she reasoned. Mine shafts didn't exist more than one hundred years ago... did they? Suddenly she wasn't so sure, and in the back of her mind, Rafa knew a creeping fear was locked tight right now. It was banging on a door in her brain, desperate to escape and make its presence known, but Rafa wasn't big on fear; it stayed put for the moment.

Somewhere in the seconds of time that gapped their speech, Rafa wished her dog Shade was with them. Surely with him there, she would feel more protected. He had always kept her safe... not matter what the danger was: fear, love, hurt, social differences... he understood it all. Rafa couldn't help but admire her best friend... well the one that wasn't human. These thoughts caused her to look up at Sophie and Jason, mentally scolding herself for forgetting how they hadn't turned their backs on her. Yet.

"Well I can't read it either. Soph? You got any ideas?" She turned to Sophie expectantly, covering her words with a slimy coating of bravery. She probably didn't feel that way, as much as she'd hate to admit that to herself or anyone else, but it was better than showing that she was afraid somewhere deep within her.

"There was a sign a while back that said not to enter, but I don't even know if this one is in English," Sophie murmuered, tracing the letters in confusion. She shivered; this place gave her a bad feeling. Wrapping her arms around herself in a vain attempt to ward of the damp chill that pervaded the air, she glanced around. Other than the sign, there wasn't anything very interesting about the old mineshaft at all. Dirt, a few wooden beams...the only thing hat caught her attention was the spider that had just made its way across her shoe.

Glancing back at the letters in an attempt to distract herself, she rubbed some of the dirt of the worn, wooden sign. Slowly, the words began to make sense. "I think the sign is saying not to open the door," she said randomly and suddenly. It was then she noticed the door in the wall, the sagging frame veiled behind a thick layer of cobwebs and dust. Curiousity growing, she couldn't help but reach for the door handle.

A cold, strong gust of wind bowled her over as the door creaked open, stealing the breath from her lungs. Shocked and breathless, she glanced at her friends for comfort, a shiver racing up her spine as faint, creepy laughter echoed in the dusty air, lingering longer that normal.
