Nicole nodded and looked up as the loud speaker sounded once more. "Students of Parks High School, we have recently been issued a severe earthquake warning. The shaking we just experienced is only the beginning of what looks to be a very large earthquake. We advise all students to leave the school and return to the safety of your homes." The loudspeaker cut off and Nicole looked at Haley with worry in her eyes.

"I guess we better go home then." She murmured, walking towards the door and standing beside it, waiting for Haley to follow.

Claire stepped out of her classroom and rushed down the hall. She would wait at the front doors for Nicole, whom she lived with. As she waited, the floor rumbled and the school shook for no more than five seconds before returning to normal. Several freshman screamed and ran past Clair, almost knocking her off her feet. "I wonder what is going on..." She thought, looking down at the floor where several mini cracks were beginning to form.

Haley nodded at Nicole as she followed her to the door, but she nearly fell into one of the desks as the shaking started up again. Haley grabbed on to the door frame just as the ground stopped again as suddenly as it had started. "We better find Clair and head home before these quakes get any worse," Haley said, a touch of fear and worry evident in her voice.

"Right." Nicole said, nodding as the mini earthquake stopped. Stepping outside of the classroom, she hurried down the hall towards the main hallway where the front doors were. She knew that was were Clair would be, as always. Turning the corner into the main hallway, Nicole glanced behind her to make sure Haley was still following her. She spotted Clair, standing at the doorway at the end of the hall. Walking slightly fast, Nicole reached her friend and paused a minute - waiting for Haley.

"What do you think is happening, guys?" Clair asked, looking worried and glancing around the school frantically. Dust from the ceiling had fallen and now coated the ground - that was how hard the earthquakes were shaking the school.

Haley jogged behind Nicole as they hurried down the hallway to find Clair waiting for them near the front doors. "I don't know," she replied to Clair's question. "But I don't plan on staying to find out." Haley was half way out the door when yet another quake shook the ground, the dust flying up everywhere and the cracks in the ceiling finally causing small pieces to fall. When it stopped again, Haley was on the floor, squatting by the door and covering her head from the debris. "You guys still okay?" she asked, coughing on the settling dust and squinting through it at her friends.

Nicole nodded, looking down at the floor. She felt slightly dizzy from the earthquakes, even though they were minor. She stepped past Haley and stood on the front steps of the school, waiting for her friends to follow. In the street below, people were frantically running up and down the streets. Some cars were abandoned in the middle of the street, causing others to get annoyed by having to weave through them. What is going on? She thought to herself. Maybe, when she got home, Amirah would know. Amirah was the caretaker that her father paid to watch Nicole, of course in Nicole's own apartment, while he grieved in his own home.

"Haley, are you coming to my house or going home?" She asked her friend, turning back to the school where the dust was just starting to settle. The air was still thick and causing her to cough, but the fresh air felt good in her lungs.

Clair wobbled as the ground shook and nearly fell when it stopped. Nicole flew past and stood on the steps, looking down into the busy street. Two freshman bumped into her, almost knocking her over as the earthquake had almost done as well. They muttered apologies and continued past, running into the main office where the school telephone was. Reaching into her pocket, Clair pulled out her cellphone and saw that she had no service anymore.

"No service." She said, looking up at her two friends. She stepped over beside Nicole and checked again. No service. "What's wrong with this thing?" She wondered aloud.

Haley straightened back up and hurried after Nicole and Clair to the outside. The clean air felt good in her lungs, and Haley breathed in a deep breathe of it. Then just as her nerves were calming down, she saw the street stacked with abadoned cars and running people. "Your house it closer," Haley answered simply, knowing that he friend would understand that Haley didn't want to try driving home and the distance was too far for walking. "I'll just call my parents ant tell them where am at," she said just as Clair announced there was no service.

Pulling out her phone frantically, she saw no bars in the upper corner of the screen. She swore under her breathe before turning back to Clair and Nicole. "I guess they'll just have to wait until I get to your house. Now lets go before another earth quake hits."

Scarlett's heels clicked against the ground as she hurried down the hall and to the front entrance, stumbling from the height of her shoes and the constant moving of thr ground. She passed three girls on her way out of the school, not giving them a second glance as she tried not to break into a full out run and catch the unwanted attention of the humans. She paused in the center of the street as yet another quake hit, this one worse than any of the others. She held on to the bumper of a car to steady herself as her body was yanked from side to side.

Rafe ran through the crowds of people bustling on the side walk. He was almost to the school which meant he was also almost home. After the earth quakes had started, his interview had immeditaly been cancelled and he had hurried home as fast as he could, but it seemed that yet another earthquake had just started. People dove to the ground and covered their heads, and Rafe joined them, squatting on the grass besdie the sidewalk. He wondered what could possibly be going on to cause earthquake in New York!

Nicole nodded in agreement just as another earthquake hit. She stifled a scream and crouched down, clinging to the railing that ran alongside the stairs. This earthquake was a lot more violent than the others and she almost lost her grip just before the ground settled. Standing up, Nicole looked down to see Clair still clinging to the railing in terror. Helping her friend up, she looked at the girl who had passed them just before the quake hit and saw she was clinging to the bumper of a car.

"Yeah let's hurry." Nicole said urgently as she hurried down the steps and onto the narrow sidewalk. She walked over to the girl and offered her hand. "Need help?" She asked, not realizing the girl was a vampire.

Clair closed her eyes tight and still didn't open them when the ground settled once more. She felt Nicole help her stand up and opened her eyes again, flashing her a thankful look. "The landlines should work." She said to Haley, watching as Nicole walked down the steps quickly and walked over to a girl who was clinging to the bumper of a car.

Rodney almost fell down as the quake hit and caught his balance easily it vanished. Stepping towards the front doors, he saw three girls, all of whom he had classes with. One of the girls, Nicole as he remembered, walked down the front steps and he stopped walking when he stood behind Haley and Clair. "You guys alright?" He asked worriedly. Although they had some classes together, he wasn't exactly acquainted with the three. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a figure crouching in the grass. By the scent, he immediately knew he was a werewolf, just like Nicole as he had established at the beginning of the year.

Ignoring the werewolf, he turned back to the two girls with a worried look in his eyes.

Haley had clung to the railing as the earth quake rumbled through violently then disappeared. She sighed with half relief that this shake had stopped and half annoyment that these quakes kept happening. "I hope youre right," Haley said to Clair as they both straightened up more confidently now that the ground seemed to stay still. "I want make sure my parents are alright."

Haley gasped when a male voice came from behind her and Clair. She hadn't noticed Rodney walking up behind them until he questioned their health. When Haley turned to the boy she had hardly spoken to throughout their high school years, she was surprised to see sincere concern in his eyes. "Yes, we're fine," answered Haley. Then as an after thought, she relayed the same question back to him. "Are you okay?"

"No," Scarlett simply, not even bothering to push away the offered hand away as she climbed up off the ground. She brushed the dirt from her dark demin skinny jeans when the scent of the girl next to her reached her nose. "You're a werewolf," she said as if accusing Nicole of a terrible crime.

Rafe picked himself up from the grass and continued walking down the sidewalk until he made it to the front of the school. He didn't really like thinking about his high school days, so he tried to hurry past the building. Then the scent of another werewolf again, the same one he had scented earlier. He paused to look at the girl he had suspected of being the wolf earlier, and the vampire girl speak the thought that was in his mind.

"A little shaky but well." Rodney answered. He glanced from Haley to Clair, who both had an urgent aura surrounding them. He understood that they must be wanting to get to their homes as soon as possible. He closed his eyes and half nodded before opening them and glancing down to the sidewalk where the werewolf stood. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end and he watched as the boy looked over at Nicole and the girl she had attempted to help. The wind changed and he realized that the girl was a vampire, much like himself.

This is strange... Two werewolves and two vampires, all in the same area. He thought, narrowing his eyes. Usually the supernatural beings tried to keep away from each other as often as possible, but due to the events taking place, that factor seemed to be eliminated.

Nicole narrowed her eyes at the girl, stifling a growl that rumbled in her throat. "Vampire." She responded, sounding as though accusing the girl of the same crime. "I do not believe we have been acquainted." She said, "My name is Nicole Worthey." She didn't bother sticking out her hand, knowing it would be pointless.

Not bothering to wait for her response, Nicole continued talking, "It wasn't random that I decided to come and help you. I felt the uncontrollable urge to be near you. Its obvious we were meant to meet." She stated simply.

Clair looked up at Rodney, unable to pull her gaze away. She had seen him before. They had been in classes together since freshman year, but she had never given him so much as a double take. Now, that she stood closer to him, she felt... strange. Suddenly, she snapped her head back to look at Haley and said, "We best be going then." And walked down the steps, almost crashing into Rafe.

Haley hesitated as Clair started walking away. A strange feeling stirred in her stomach, telling her not to go. She and Clair both needed to stay here with Nicole. And, Haley suppised, Rodney as well. As much as her head wanted to run for home, a force kept her feet planted beside Rodney. Clair, wait," Haley said just as she bumped into a long-haired boy. Not feeling nervous for Clair, as she usually would have, Haley felt completely calm. "Why do I get the feeling we're all supposed to be here together?" Haley asked to no one in particular, though Rodney was the onky near enough to even hear her question.

Scarlett raised an eyebrow at Nicole as if she were talking crazy. But Scar had to admit she kind of felt the same. She couldn't let this Nicole werewolf know she was right. "I'm Scarlett, and I'm a straight vampire. Sorry 'bout that, but I prefer a boyfriend over a girlfriend." She smirked up at Nicole, who was several inches taller than Scar. "Besides, I hear inter-species relationships hardly ever last. It would just never work between us, sweet-heart."

Rafe had been too occupied with the conversation between the werewolf and vampire to notice the human girl until she nearly collided with him. Out of ibstinct, he gently grasped her shoulder to steady her. "Sorry, I sould have been..." Rafe trailed off as he looked at the girl's face, and suddenly couldn't look away. "Do I know you?" he asked, a crease of concentration forming on his brow. He didn't know how, but he did know that he had seen her before. Her face brought back a memory, but it was so fogged over with time that nothing was clear except her face.

Nicole smirked as Scarlett talked and found herself laughing. "Get over yourself, vampire. You know what I really mean." She said, talking a step back to look Scar up and down. She looked younger than Nicole and her friends, but Nicole was still the shortest. She turned back to her friends, noticing Rodney, a boy from her class, and another boy who was talking to Clair. She was going to walk over to them but wasn't about to let Scarlett get away.

Something about her told Nicole that they all needed to stay together.

Clair almost fell down when she felt two strong hands grip her shoulders, stealing her. She then looked up at who the hands belonged to and her eyes locked with Rafe's. He seemed to be examining her face, as though looking for something that he couldn't see very clear. She heard his question, but it sounded as though he was speaking from miles away.

Clair tried to recognize his face, but couldn't. "I-I'm sorry but, I haven't seen you before." She murmured, widening her eyes and never moving her gaze away from his.

Rodney snapped back to Haley when he heard her question, but he didn't know if she had meant for anyone to hear. "I have no idea.." He found himself answering involuntarily, looking over at Scarlett and Nicole, then to Clair and Rafe. The earthquakes had brought them all here for a reason, and he was determined to figure out what it was.

He opened his mouth to say something, but under Rodney's feet, the ground started to rumble. The ground jerked and almost threw him off balance, but he grabbed Haley's hand absently so she wouldn't be thrown off.

Scarlett shrugged to show that she had known what Nicole had meant earlier but couldn't resist the urge to mess with the werewolf a little bit. "So why are we supposed to met?" Scar asked, wondering if the werewolf had any kind of answer to what brough all six of them there at that moment. But before the question had fully left Scar's lips, the ground shook again. She reached to regain her grip on the car bumper, glad she hadn't moved from that spot seemed it seemed safer than most places. Before she made the decision to, Scar had reached out a hand to grip Nicole's arm and steady her as well.

Rafe stared at her a few second longer, but finally turned his gaze away. Oh. Sorry, I must have took you for someone else," Rafe said, trying to explain why he still felt like he knew her from somewhere. He shook the feeling away since she obviously didn't know him. "Anyways, I'm Rafe," he said, sticking out a hand in greeting at the same time another earthquake it. Suddenly, instead of offering a hand in greeting, he was offering one of safety, nearly falling into a street lamp himself but wrapping his free arm around it. His other hand still reached out to Clair, but he didn't want grab her another time without asking.

"Don't you feel i-," Haley began to ask before her balance was totally thrown off by the unexpected rumble of the ground. As she was yanked away from Rodney, his hand anchored her to her spot but also tugged her forward a couple of steps closer to him. She gripped tightly to his hand but also steadied herself with a hand to his shoulder to prevent her from completely tumbling into him.

Clair was about to take shake his hand when the ground rumbled once more. She saw that the streetlamp was holding him steady and grabbed his hand, hoping that he would be able to steady her too. She closed her eyes tight and waited a moment until the ground had completely stopped shaking before opening them again. Clair was reluctant to let go of his hand but released it anyway, still shaking from the surprising earthquakes. "I'm Clair." She answered her name.

She looked over at Nicole and Scarlett and blinked. "We need to be getting home. You can come if you like, its only a block away form the school." She invited Rafe, hoping he came with her. She felt that all six of them needed to stay together.

Nicole was about to answer when the ground shook violently and Scarlett grabbed her hand, keeping her from toppling to the ground. She regained her balance and coughed. The earthquakes were causing dust and debris to fall and cake the streets. "I have no idea, but maybe we can find out. We're heading to my house," She said, pointing to Haley and Clair, "We might be able to find out whats going on." The way she said it made out to be an invitation to Scarlett.

She knew that Scar most likely wouldn't object, because she seemed like the type of person who wanted to figure things out.

"Steady..." Rodney said, releasing his grip as the earthquake settled. He looked down at Clair and Rafe, "We better go join them." He motioned towards them with a nod.

Rafe chuckled a bit at Clair who had introduced herself as if nothing had happened in between their greeting. He nodded that at Clair's invitation, not ready to leave the others just yet. A feeling tugged at his mind that encouraged he stayed with these people. "Sure, I'll come. It's not like I have anyone else I've got to be," he replied. "So, who are you're friends?" He wanted to at least the names of the others that he would be with since he didn't know any of them.

Scarlett took her hand away from Nicole as soon as the ground settled. "I suppose I have no choice but to go with you," she said to Nicole disdainfully. Although Scarlett never would have imagined that she would be spending the day with a werewolf and her friends, she did admitt that she wanted to figure out what was going on to cause such strange events. Maybe if they all stuck together, they would be able to piece togher what was happening.

Haley nodded at Rodney, still shaken up from the earthquake but more steady on her feet now. She lead the way to Clair and the boy who Haley didn't know. She stood next to Clair just as the boy asked about Clair's friends. "Well, I'm Haley," she said brightly, though she didn't offer a hand.

Clair was just about to turn and point at Haley when she felt her friend walk up beside her. After Haley introduced herself, she pointed at Nicole and said, "That is Nicole." Clair turned back to Haley only to notice that Rodney had come down with her. "Oh hello Rodney." She greeted him, smiling.

"Hey, Clair." Rodney smiled back then looked at Rafe, narrowing his eyes. Rafe was obviously a werewolf but Rodney wasn't about to let that peculiar fact disrupt the group. "I'm Rodney." He introduced himself, an edge of hostility in his voice that only Rafe would be able to hear.

Nicole narrowed her eyes at Scarlett before turning around to walk back over to her friends - not looking back to see if she was following. "Hey, Rodney!" She smiled, making her presence known with the greeting. "I see you've made some new friends." Nicole said to Clair and Haley, nodding at Rafe and Rodney. She ignored the fact that the newcomers were a werewolf and a vampire, and smiled.

"We should probably head over to my house now and get to know each other there. Its not safe to be hanging around in the streets." She suggested.
