Are Kodiak's looks from Balto's side?

We don't know, Lakota. Any ideas of Balto's dad is all fan theory. When it comes to that, no one really knows. To say that is cause for just speculation.

If he's a descendant of Balto, he's automatically a descendant of Balto's dad, as well. Balto's dad is Kodi's grandpa.

I think his looks come from both Jenna and Balto. The color of his fur is definitely from Jenna (if Balto's dad had red fur, balto would be showing it), the way he's built is from Balto (body figure, paws, etc.), and I can see some resemblance from Balto and Jenna in the way his face looks.

No, actually, that's not necessarily true. Traits can skip generations.

Not to say that Kodi's red fur did't come from Jenna; I'm pretty sure it did. BUT, it is still possible for his dad to have red fur, but for Balto to not.

Like has been said, it's all about genetics. Kodi got some chromosomes from Jenna and some from Balto. If it weren't so...he be either an exact clone of one of them, which with dogs is pretty much impossible outside a laboratory, or a pretty darn awful deformed dog because he would only have half the chromosomes he needs.

From what I can see, he gets a lot of his build from Balto, though as far as coloring and markings go, he's more similar to Jenna. His fur colors aren't exactly the same, of course, but they don't have to be. My dad's hair is black and my mom's is red, but mine is blond. -shrug-

Basically, a pup doesn't have to have cloned features of his parents. Genes can skip generations, and sometimes there are multiple genes responsible for a trait. (Eye color is like that (well, in humans, at least), and that's why there's so many different shades of each eye color).

...Well, it seems I've wandered slightly off-topic here. Sorry about that.

Point is, Kodi's looks come from both his parents.

Finally someone here with some common sense, it is possible!

That is basically what I was about to say, He is a nice combo of BOTH parents in my opinion, besides it really doesn't matter to begin with, its just a cartoon people!

I'm guna' have to say both. For one thing, either way Kodi and his siblings are all part wolf. To me he gets his head and muzzle features from Balto, and his fur color from his mother Jenna obviously. And just most of his body reminds me of Balto.
