Scotty's eyes lit up and he smiled hearing Cole speak. One of the guys drew back his fist aimed for Scotty's face, but as he threw the punch Scotty caught his hand and twisted his arm around behind his back. Another came up behind him and he spun around throwing the other guy into him as they collided Scotty backed up next to Cole.

The two guys, Scotty had decked, groaned as they sat up and rubbed their heads then they looked at Scotty who lumbered over them. "It'd be really smart to run right now!" he smiled. They blinked then staggered up and stumbled off after the big guy, tripping over a trash can on the way.

Scotty smirked then hurried over to Cole and kneeled down beside him, "You okay, bud?" he asked.

Cole didn't reply, he couldn't breathe still. He opened his mouth as if to say smoething, but all that came out was a shuttering scratchy breath, that was more along the lines of stuttered cough. He clenched is fists , struggling to find his voice, but still he was silenced. He could open his eyes then, and he wanted to tell Scotty to call the police, but he blacked out before it happened.

"Cole!" Scotty yelped as he passed out. Scotty dug around in his pocket the pulled out his iphone and dialed 911.

"911 what's your emergency?" an operator answered.

"Me and my friend we're just in a fight, and he's hurt!" Scotty whimpered.

"Okay, kid. We'll send the cops and Ems, soon! What's your location?" the operator asked. Scotty rambled off the name of road and that they were in an ally-way before hanging up and trying to wake Cole again.

Cole woke up in a bright room, and he immediantly winced and quickly closed his eyes because the room was so bright. His neck was swollen, but numb, and whenever he swallowed, he never knew if it really went down... Suddenly the was the soft hum of a guitar, and Serena's high Pitched voice singing. You are my sunshine. My only sunshine, you make me happy when skies arrreee grey... and then she was hushed and Cole wanted to cry when the doctor made her leave.

Scotty was standing out in the hall, he had his hat off and held it at his side. His shadow colored hair fell into his face but he didn't bother to brush it away. He looked up when the door opened and the doctor shooed Serena out of the room.

"Umm... I'm his best friend." Scotty replied following the doctor as they entered a dimly lit room with a single bright light in it.

Scotty blinked a moment then looked at Cole "How ya' doin'?" he asked wondering if he'd get an answer.

Scotty smiled, his usual sideways grin. "Man, your my best friend! You woulda' done the same thing for me!" he replied happy that Cole was talking.

[b]Cole smiled the tiniest bit and let go of Scotty's hand. He sighed and stared at the ceiling. He motioned Scotty with his eyes to get his IPod. Before he could Cole's parents rushed in, and his mother smorthered him with hugs. His father simply stood there, looking down on his son as if he were some great dissapointment. Cole never responded to his mother's questions, nor her tears, he simply lay there.
