Drew still couldn't wrap his mind around it. His own situation was entirely different from both Joseph and Dana's. He had been born an animal of the wild. A fox, of all things. And now here he was, a completely separate species. And it frightened him, even if he would never openly admit it. When he was a kit, he used to be terribly scared of humans. He used to run whenever he saw one. And now, he was one. He should have been afraid of his own shadow.

He heard a whinny and a meow somewhere off to his side, and he knew which came from where. But for some reason, he noticed, he couldn't hear as well. He looked down at Joseph and shook his head. And then he looked to his own eye level at Dana and turned to see his own body. Skin... he had never felt so exposed. All his life, fur had kept him warm and helped him survive. Now all he felt were measly little hairs dotted around as if they were some sort of joke.

The only mass of hair on him was at the top of his head, which he had to admit, he was grateful for. And... he had clothes on too. It felt slightly weird. Humans were the only species he knew of besides toy dogs that wore this kinda stuff. But Drew guessed they needed it to make up for the lack of fur. Smart idea, if you thought hard enough.

However, he wasn't exactly happy in his current state. Neither were the others, he could almost be sure. He was just barely able to understand his partners from the lab. He could make out several words. And just from that he could tell that humans didn't understand animals. The only reason he was able to make out half of it was because he had grown up an animal himself. He knew the dialogue through and through. However, these were different animals than himself.

So not everything was crystal clear. Not to mention Drew had to try and get it as he went along. As smart as humans are... you'd think they'd be able to understand us since we can to them? He reflected. And he answered, "I don't know. I just don't want to be stuck like this forever." He was surprised at his own voice. It seemed something more... alien to him. "My question is, how are we supposed to change back?"

This was a nightmare. Her wings were gone and she was grounded. Gravity had a hold on her that had never bothered her before. And her keen eyesigh was dulled somewhat. Her beak was no more, and her feathers were gone completely. Instead, she had a thing of fur hanging off her head. Ava wrapped her arms around herself, feeling a bit self-conscious to be honest. Her cheeks flushed with a tinge of red - that had never happened before.

The clothes she wore rubbed against her bare skin, feeling alien and uncomfortable. Ava supposed she would get used to it eventually...maybe. "I don't know either," she admitted. Her voice rasped against her throat in a way that was different from her ringing cries she gave as a glorious creature of the sky.

"But I do know this," she continued, "If we became this way, there has to be a way to change back." She sure hoped so. Already she was longing to soar unbound through the clear blue skies, to leave the ground behind.

Avienda sat away from the rest of the group, perched on top of a smooth stone and her kness tucked up against her chest. She rested her chin on her arms that encircled her legs, staring at the rest of the group through strands of long dark fur that was constantly falling in front of her face. Despite the glaring sun, Avie felt chilled to the bone no longer covered in her thick fur. Instead, she only had the flimsy covering of a human, which she thought she had heard them being called clothing. It didn't really matter to Avie since she already planned to get rid of them as soon as she could; they were more annoying than the long fur that blocked her visions or her weakened senses of hearing and scenting.

Avie hadn't tried out her human voice yet, not sure how to make it work. The others made it seem so easy, but Avie didn't want to hear those foreign sounds echoing from her own throat. Instead, she weakly growled at the the discussion they were all having. Finally finding a reason to speak, Avie tried a few words on her tongue. "If there is a way to return, I would like to know it," she said, her voice much to high-pitched and sweet sounding for Avienda's liking.

She turned her eyes away from the others again, staring down a leaf that broke off from its branch. As he drifted closer and closer to the ground, Avienda concentrated on hearing it's landing, but of course, there was only silence. She huffed angrily and stood up from her sitting position too fast, causing her to loose balance and land on all fours like she used to. But it took too long for her upper limbs to touch ground, and her back legs had already given out. Wanting to maintain some dignity, Avienda straightened herself up, standing tall and confident again. But she didn't take anymore steps yet.

Dana's ears flickered with the impatience that no one had any idea what to do. A benefit from being turned from a human to an animal was that she was able to understand the conversations between the two. However it was a human's brain in charge, not an animal's so she could only vaguely make out what it was that the animals were saying. Sub-consciously Dana dipped her head down and her snout began to brush along the ground, searching from some grass to graze from. When she realized what she was doing, Dana threw her head back and snorted. "Ugh dirt! Ugh, I'm not a vegetarian!"

Her ears went erect and Dana looked around. The benefit from being an animal was her enhancement of hearing. Her nostrils flared up and Dana was beginning to become a bit skittish. "Uhhh, guys, we might be having some company..." Steadily creeping upon them was a coyote, not big and not fearsome, but to a horse it was a natural enemy, and Dana could not help but be skittish in its presence. She was becoming excited and was skittishly moving back and forth.

Drew contemplated the others' words. "Ava's right," he said. "I mean, look at us. Those of us who are normally animals," he realized just how odd it was to say it, being as this situation itself was so peculiar. "were turned into humans. Those of us who are normally humans, were turned into animals. So there is a way to change back. We just have to find out what it is."

That was the most he'd ever spoken with this new voice. He gripped his throat and looked down at his hand when he let go. Weird... Just then, though, there had to be more on his mind than a new sound he heard from within his own body. Because another sound emanated from the trees nearby. A coyote... foxes were naturally either close or disbonded with these creature.

Drew normally got along well with coyotes when they weren't trying to steal his food. And his animal mind was telling him to step on it and attack. He was one of the biggest foxes in the area. He wasn't usually scared of things like this. However, his nerves and his new human body proved futile. His whole body was screaming run. But his whole mind was yelling, fight.

And in the end he listened to his mind. He headed up to the coyote, and was about to growl, but decided better of it seeing as his new vocals wouldn't allow him the noise. He stood a defense stance right next to Joe. And he kept his eyes right on the coyote. "You should leave," he said surprisingly gentle. The coyotes he always knew as a kit and as an adult were mostly friendly. They didn't look for fights unless you gave good reason to start one. Or if food was involved.

"None of us are food. So either lick your lips and suck it up, or go find something else to eat." His glare was hard, nearly cold. It said that he meant business. He wasn't fooling around. He was serious, and he was being merciful.

The coyote growled and opened its already ajar lips, long lines of saliva drooling from the corners of his mouth. Dana became even more nervous, and with that she took careful steps back. "G-Guys... s-someone go get that c-coyote now. Like now. NOW!" She snorted impatiently at the lack of doing anything amongst her peers, and fear was beginning to slowly transform into irritation. A coyote was really no match for a horse. She was the biggest animal in the ground and her hooves could land powerful blows if she wanted to attack. Comparing the coyote to a horse, it had no chance. However Dana was hesitant about the way this coyote looked, and so did not want to make the first step.

She watched as Drew stood next to Joe, and it made her kind of envious of the fact that she was behaving so skittishly in comparison to even Drew, who was perhaps more vulnerable now that he was a human instead of an animal. Dana perked her ears and looked around, eyes wide open in case another coyote decided to come at them.

Travis looked around, "Woah..."He said in awe, the world looked so big. He was the smallest out of the group. His eye sight was the same, but his nose picked up sents that he never knew he could smell. He thought all this was creepy, but cool. He was furrier, which he didn't seem to like. And his voice was high and squeaky. It was all those stupid scientist's fault.

Travis saw everyone ealse preocupied with a coyote, which he wasn't worried about. Coyotes didn't mess with otters unless otters mess with them. But he still felt a little skiddish around a preadetor.

Stripes looked at his new body. And he hated it. He wasn't all furry, and had pale skin, with no stripes. He didn't have a tail. And was walking on hind legs! His eye sight was as dull as a small cub's would be. He growled, but it didn't sound scary like it used to be, just a dull rumble. The only hair he had on his body was on his head. Which was not right. He touched his cloths, why did he have to wear cloths. Why was he even here?

No one took action, and as the coyote got closer to them, taking none of them seriously, Dana took action. She trotted up to the front and raised herself on her hind leg, feeling at home with this position. She waved her legs about, neighing loudly before bringing them down nearly a few inches in front of the coyote. The coyote snarled and backed off, but when Dana turned her back to the coyote, it lunged at her and jumped onto her back. Dana panicked and began bucking wildly. The coyote bite her but it immediately lost its grip on her. It slid into the reach of her hing legs, which caught the coyote square in the stomach. The coyote yelped and was thrown a fair distance before falling onto the ground, still alive but unable to move.

Frightened out of her wits, Dana became uncontrollable, neighing loudly and moving around skittishly. Her eyes were wide and her back where the coyote had bitten her was hurting.

After becoming shocked and watching Dana fight the coyote, Drew was a bit stunned. He wasn't sure what to do about this. Usually wild horses would have run... just like Dana would have probably liked to. It was only natural. But then again... this whole situation wasn't natural at all. The animals were turned human and the humans were turned animal. It wasn't even supposed to be possible.

But his mind was supposed to be on other matters. And so he kept it on them. As soon as Dana kicked the coyote a distance away, Drew noticed it was somewhat close to being paralyzed. And so he took that chance. He ran up to it, used his hands to grab the creature, and put it over his shoulder.

This could have turned out very badly had Dana not knocked him so bad. Or had the coyote been faking being so still. But Drew would rather put himself at risk than his friends. And it was exactly that which he would do. He looked at the others and asked as calmly as possible. "What do we do with it?"

Travis shrunk back as Dana decided to intimidate the coyote. He thought it had worked but the coyote jumped on Dana's back and bit her. Travis hissed in fear of the coyote. But when he saw Dana kick it in the stomach and paralyzed it, she went crazy. He slunk to a nearby bush, since he couldn't climb up a tree.

Travis was surprised when Drew picked up the paralyzed coyote? Why would he want to pick up something that was trying to kill Dana? When Drew asked what to do with it, Travis shrugged. "Why don't we just leave it?" Travis suggested.

Stripes's eyes narrowed at the coyote. How stupid was it? It had just attacked a full-grown horse. Did it think it would win? Stripes sighed, what was he supposed to about this? He looked at his body. It's horrible, his bare skin was catching a chill, that never happened when he had been a tiger.

His thoughts floated back to the question Drew had asked How are we suposed to change back? Stripes growled in his mind.

Gender: Female
Name: Danielle Reckendorf - Usually goes by Reckendorf
Age: Seventeen
Sex: Female
Crush: Perhaps she will develop one as the roleplay progresses.
Human-Turned-Animal

Personality: Reckendorf is the type of person that can make others believe she can foresee things and know everything that goes on around her - when in reality, she pays attention. She is one of those people who you like or you don't, there is no in between. She is typically kind to everyone but if she doesn't like someone, she shows it.

History: Born to a very rich family in New York, Reckendorf grew up with no brothers or sisters. She spent her childhood years playing in the land behind her parents' house and making friends with the animals. She never did well in school because her teachers would loose patience with her. So her father hired a private teacher to come to the Reckendorf mansion three days a week and teach the young girl. When she was fourteen, there was a house fire that killed both of her parents. The mansion along with the family fortune was passed down to her and she was the mistress of the house.
Six months after the fire, Reckendorf was kidnapped by the laboratory scientists who transformed her into an animal. Although the transformation was very painful, Reckendorf does not mind being an animal as much as the others do. But she still wishes to return to her natural form and home.

"Put it somewhere far away," Ava suggested. She wasn't experienced when it came to dealing with the predators of the land. But she knew this much; the coyote was going to be very angry when the stunning blow wore off. Either that, or it would run away terrified. She was thinking it would be the former.

Dana was still thrashing about, her eyes rolled up in fear. What should they do about her? At least the coyote was stunned; Dana wasn't. Ava warily took a step back, away from those hooves. A blow from them would be incredibly painful, maybe fatal if it hit her head. She wasn't willing to jump in and struggle to calm the panicked horse.

OOC:// Ambassadeur Polar - Accepted! xD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No one really came forward to help her. Not that she really didn't expect it but it would've been nice. Still spooked beyond all sense of rationality, Dana bucked wildly and then took her, her mind reanalyzing the situation but her heart telling her to run. She didn't run far, just down the slippery slope from which they had climbed up when the scientists told them to leave. When she saw the place, Dana immediately came to a halt, her heart racing as she had flashbacks to before the experimentation. Flashbacks, she did not want to remember. Dana whinnied and for some reason looked down where there was a piece of paper just by her hoof. Interested but unable to read it with her newfound horse eyes, she took it in her mouth and trotted back to the others.
She felt embarrassed as she rejoined the group of them after her little freak-out, though it wasn't so much as her the human as it was her the animal. She snorted and waved the paper around in her mouth, hoping to grab someone's interest in the least.
