I think what makes them an unlikely choice for a pet is their natural order (which can be dealt with to a great degree), and high-maintenance care required. Ferrets are among the the most sociable animals humans can own and are own to be more intelligent than cats and dogs. They can be trained to use a litter-box and do tricks, and are SO. FREAKING. ADORABLE. [/thread] I love ferrets, along with rats. I dunno, I guess I just like smart rodents. ^^ I also like; Bats African Wild Dogs Skunks (Honestly, I don't think they smell bad at all. Maybe strong, but thats the worst I'll say.) Bears Lemurs Chameleons ...And there are plenty of others, too. ^^

Sharks are definitely very misunderstood. They're not vicious man-eaters as people say they are. Sharks only attack humans as a way of investigating because we look like seals (their primary source of food) to them. They'd stay away from us as much as we'd stay away from them. The author who wrote Jaws (which I guess kind of had a hand in the growing fear of sharks) said that if he knew how sharks really acted, he never would've written the book. ... ok, besides sharks, I love reptiles. Crocodiles, Komodo dragons, Alligators are just some on the list that I really like. Bears are also my favorite and they don't get a good reputation either. Interestingly I had an argument with a peer of mine over whether bears were truly bloodthirsty or not. Also many birds are a favorite of mine, especially hawks (not much a specific species as much as it is a whole). And whales They're so beautiful. My personal favorites are the blue whale and the Humpback. The Gemsbok Oryx below is also a favorite of mine < 3

Honestly, wolves are really misunderstood. xD They're either thought of as "omg killers and evil" or "so majestic and noble!!" and neither are true.
African Wild Dogs. Amur Leopards (they are not the same as african leopards 8( people don't seem to get it). Snow leopards. Maned wolves. Ethiopian wolves. Przwalski's horse.
Probably many more I can't think of this time of night.

Aye-Ayes are thought to be an omen bad luck, so they are often killed by the natives of Madagascar (even though killing them won't stop bad things from happening). They are highly endangered because of the destruction of the jungles they live in. Maurice from the Madagascar movies and The Penguins Of Madagascar TV series is an aye-aye. It was through the character that I even heard of the species. Same with the mouse lemur, of which Mort is one. I thought so, but I was never sure if he was one or not. XD I first heard about them as a kid from an episode of The Wild Thornberrys. Then I did some online research on them and they became one of my favorite animals~!

- 'Pit bulls'. All though they are a domesticated dog breed, they are one of the most abused breeds out there. People think they are vicious and don't even bother trying to get their facts straight - which is why they are banned in so many places (which is just absurd). But for those that have been around the breed (and responsible owners), they know how amazing they are.
- Bats also rank pretty high on my list. Yet another species so many people fear. And for what? Simply because they refuse to learn about them and insist on fearing them for no good reason.
- Sharks, they are not 'man-eaters' like so many people think. Yet another case of "OMG I don't know anything about them SO THEY MUST BE EVIL!" Yes, there have been cases of sharks killing/eating a human, but it doesn't mean all of them will. ._.
- African Painted Dogs (aka 'African Wild Dogs'). They, too, are targeted and killed out of fear/myths. ._. But they are clever and just amazing animals. Very beautiful as well. :D I'd love to see some.
- And Elephants, which are very remarkable animals for sure. Some think they are much like humans, having a complex social structure and when a member of their group dies, they will attempt to bury it and will even visit the site. They are very intelligent and much more than "just an animal".

I think hawks are absolutely amazing creatures! There is a hawk that has been hanging around my yard this year. I was lucky enough to photograph it.

I love rats, for one. They're actually extremely intelligent, and VERY clean, which is pretty much theopposite of stereotypes. I watch my two pet rats, and they clean themselves alot, and could open every door on their cage if I forgot to fasten them.
I did a report on bats in fifth grade, and while they're not my favorite animal, I like them too. Unlike what most people think, only one breed of bat drinks blood, and it lives in Central/South America. Most bats eat fruit, and to me are quite cute, and probably smart. Echosound is a good development, I believe. And so is their ability to fly even though their mammals. And not just glide, like some squirrels.

It's just completely unfair.
