All right. Oh. And while you're at it, can you check out that last topic I mentioned in my last comment?

Chapter 4: Today....

Niiju's paws pounded the forest floor. He panted, eyes wild, excited and ready for the hunt. It had been so long since he had hunted in a forest, with trees and underbrush, and all the smells only a forest can have. I remember when I was just a pup hunting in this forest.... With all the others. They didn't think I would prove worthy enough to be an apprentice of Kanak, but I certainly did! Where's that certain clearing again?.....

Soon, Niiju found the clearing- a pleasant place, with some birds singing in the background. Some snow was gathered on the grass there, but it didn't matter. He remembered all the same. He grinned, and then laid on the ground behind some branches to wait. Eventually, three small, timid caribou walked into the clearing. He quickly got up to scan the herd. After a few minutes, he decided to target the third one- a young, but small, female. Niiju scouted around the clearing for the best place to approach from. He chose a spot on the west side, sheltered by some long grass and a bush, close to his target. He quietly started to stalk the doe. He got closer....Closer.....Closer...... And then he sprang!

He almost missed, but was able to catch on to the doe's scruff with his teeth at the last moment. He held on as hard as he could, and scrabbled with his claws to try and get his body on top of the doe. The doe thrashed and kicked, and her herdmates bleated as they ran, but Niiju got the best of her. Her neck snapped. Her body fell. And Niiju's victory howl rose for all creatures to hear.

Back at the cave, Aleu was crying in the corner as Steele watched the door, grinning evilly. Steele glanced at Niiju as he dragged in the kill, and said, "Hey. Drag that over there; we'll eat in a minute." Not even a thank you? Niiju thought, annoyed. As soon as Niiju set it down, Aleu leaned forward to take a bite, but Steele growled at her. "Prisoners eat last. Sit down, brat!" Aleu whimpered and scrambled away. What happened to her? Niiju wondered. Then he started to eat. Steele turned and looked at Niiju, then barked, "After we're finished, we start heading for Nome."




That's the end of this chapter! I'm SOSOSOSO sorry I haven't written in a long while, i've been really busy!

Chapter 5: The Howl.

A few hours later back at Nome, Rosy, Carlisle, and Coretta were excitedly talking about the howl that would be happening that night. "It's at the old dock, right?" Rosy asked. "Yeah. I'm surprised it's Dixie who's hosting it, though." Carlisle answered. "I'm not surprised." Coretta said. "She's just one of those dogs that loves attention." "And guys!" Rosy giggled. They all laughed, and then went about their business seperately.

Just a few minutes before sunset, all the dogs in town slipped out of their houses, alleys, and backyards to go to the howl. Black shillouttes of every size and shape trotted onto the dock, waiting for darkness. Dixie jumped up onto an old crate to begin the event. "Now everybody pair up! Don't worry if ya don't get the good-lookin' dog in the back, ladies; chances are you'll get another go at 'im later tonight!" All the dogs laughed at Dixie's sense of humor; she was a funny little dog. Then they went about their business. Kodi, Rosy's brother, chose Dusty, and Dusty's brother Rusty chose a poodle named Mimi. Rosy found a collie named Tip, Coretta a dobermann named Rocky, and Carlisle chose Toklo- one of the dog police. After everyone had found a partner, the howl began.

What seemed like hundreds of voices singing rose from the dock towards the full moon. Rosy's was happy and joyful; Coretta's was sad and full of pain; Carlisle's was flirty and rebellious. Each howl told a story all its own. None was the same, although some were similar. It was wonderful for them- and it lasted all night. Rosy had several howling partners, but Coretta and Carlisle never changed theirs. Dixie howled the most by far- telling jokes and singing songs. It was a wonderful expirience overall, and it ended with old- and new- friends lying down next to each to fall asleep while the lights of the aurora borealis danced above their heads.

No, not yet. I haven't decided quite exactly what'll be in there yet, but i'm working on it.

Chapter 6: It's Morning, Now.

Aleu looked up. Steele was obviously ticked that they had not traveled far the day before. They hadn't even got out of the cave yet! He was pacing back and forth, growling, even snapping at Niiju when he asked a question! Aleu sighed. It was going to be a loooong day. Steele, thinking he saw Aleu's eyes open, turns suspiciously towards her. In a panic, Aleu shuts her eyes tightly, trying to feign sleep. Steele doesn't fall for it. He roughly prods her and says loudly, "Get up, brat!" Aleu stays on the ground, still hoping he'll leave her alone, but the prodding continues, getting harder and harder until she finally gets up. Once they're all ready to go, Steele growls and barks, "Now let's go!"

Aleu is still scarred from what happened a couple of days ago.....Or was it yesterday? "You lose track of time down here." she thinks. Meanwhile, Niiju and Steele are arguing in front of her. "We need to get there in the next three days-- no questions asked!" Steele barks, his eyes blazing. "We'll be far to exhausted to fight, if need be, if we go at that pace!" Niiju answered him, also angry. But a few seconds later, they stopped and looked behind Aleu, their eyes wide. Aleu slowly looked as well. She had heard a strange rumbling noise earlier...... But when she saw what was happening, she gasped.

The cave was collapsing behind them! If they didn't get out in time, they were dead meat!

Wow... so much action. OH!!! And a cliffhanger!!!!!!!! Hehe. I like it.
