Ok and thanks for tellin me^

Nuke was born as the son of a retired racing dog and a family pet. He was very curious as a small pup and was completely captivated the first time he saw a sled team. Even his dreams began to soar above the clouds. From then on he would go to the outskirts of Nome and run alongside the lead dog of each team until he collapsed from pure exhaustion. Even when he collapsed, his heart continued to soar alongside the teams and he dreamed of becoming a sled dog himself. As a small young pup, he couldn’t keep up, but as he continued to grow his speed picked up.

Before long he could outrun the lead dogs of all of the sled teams in Nome and could maintain his speed for long distances. As he ran alongside each team his dreams flew higher and was ecstatic when his owner began to train him to be a sled dog. (His owner was one of the top mushers in his area.) Everyday he trained long and hard. Before long he was the lead dog of his owner’s team and was very versatile when he needed to fill other positions. He becomes fast friends with his teammates, all of them males. Then, his owner purchases a talented and medal winning sled dog named Tekla. Nuke first believes that she’ll just slow the team down and be sensitive and weak because she’s a female, but Tekla proves him wrong. She is very strong and as tough as any male dog on the team. She matches Nuke’s competitiveness easily and is an extremely talented addition to the team. She becomes a part of the team before and during an extremely difficult race against Steele and his team. As usual, Steele cheats and wins ahead of them. Nuke becomes fast friends with Tekla and is disheartened when he, Tekla, and their teammates are sold as sled dogs.

He is purchased by Canton’s owners and becomes an accepted part of their team. Tekla is sold to someone else and he misses her as he has no idea who purchased her… On Canton’s team his position is ahead of Canton, but behind the lead dog…

(I will continue the history if you like… I’ve continued to come up with more details and already have a very complex story and history for him…)



I would use him in drawings, and possibly even a fanfic (or series...) on his first sled team and especially on his first race with Steele. I would develop him first, but he would eventually meet Tekla again and I might later make her his mate... (She has no official designs yet... I haven't had the time to make them, but I can attempt to get them sometime soon.)

[I do realize that he can't have pups, but I might give him (and possibly Tekla...) an adopted pup or two later on. It has to do with the stories of some of my other characters who are not on the sources at the moment... PM me if you would like more details. ^^]



Here's just a sample of an idea of a part in the fanfic... (Realize I'm just now typing this little bit. I find that my best work is in my writing..)

Nuke ran with every muscle within his body, every joint in motion. Panting, heaving, he continued on. Each paw dug into hard iccey snow, only to be lifted again. Now he glanced back, his team was fighting to keep up their pace as well. Turning back, Nuke barely had time to avoid running into a lopsided tree in the soft dim moonlight. As he avoided it, the deep cut in his leg began to nag him with piercing pain at this sudden motion. He felt like a thousand needles were poking in his leg. Gritting his teeth harder he pressed on. Fighting the pain with each step. His energy was beginning to give, but he still pushed on. Almost running blindly, the team fought through the forest with the full moon giving its warmth and glow.
"We'll make it!" Nuke shouted to his team.
Then, as he spoke the last syllable, he slipped and collapsed. His wounded leg gave and he lay, struggling to get to his feet. His team stopped, but where thrown around as they collided with each other and with Nuke. Tekla got up weakly, exhausted, but with the fire of her fierce spirit still glowing brightly in her eyes. Slowly she walked towards Nuke. Every joint in his body was struggling to get up, to get to his feet, but his attempts were pointless and his groans were full of pain.
"Nuke. You can't go any further. Neither can we..."
Nuke turned to face her.
"No! Tekla, we can get there if we just keep going." Nuke said with a fierce look of defiance.
"There is nothing more that we can do, Nuke!"
"Yes, we can-"
"No! We must stop for now..."


Not my best, but I can do more later... (I'm currently working on some sketches, but I also have to study for mid-terms this week. I should be able to finish, scan, and ink them after next Wednesday. Sorry for the wait...)

Name: Dakota

Relation to Balto: LARKSPUR'S BALTO FAMILY TREE (Balto's nephew)

Birth: 1926 in the wild

Parents: Buck (Tundra x Aniu) x Kaya (??? x ???)

Breed: 3/4 Wolf and 1/4 Alaskan Husky

Personality: Brave, determined, mischevious, rebelious, wants to be just like his father. When he sets his mind on something, he'll become obssessed with it until he gets it done. He's very protective of his sisters (even though they can take care of themselves) and will only take commands from Anyu, or his parents. He'll follow sensable rules, but he makes sure he breaks everyone of Boss's (which almost got him killed more then once). When Dakota was born he immediantly pictured himself as a perfect image of his brave father. He studied him closely, and fllowed his every move, until his father died. From then on Dakota was a strong young male who followed his dreams and was confident in every step he took. He swore to get back at Boss, and to never take direction from that "No good murderer".

History: Dakota always wanted to be just like his dad, but he doesn't get a chance to know Buck that well before he is "killed" and Boss takes over Buck's pack. He was usually taken care of by his "babysitters" Yukon, Nero and Atka. Then, Dakota becomes rebellious and does anything he can to make Boss mad. Eventually, he escapes with his younger sister, but every second after that, he is plotting his revenge on Boss, and eventually becomes leader of his own small pack.

Personality: Strict, sharp, to-the-point, does everything exact, is a perfectionist, usually puts racing before anything else, expects everyone to keep up with him. He's actually pretty easy-going and lazy when he's not on the team, but as soon as he's in his harness, he's very focused and nothing comes before his job. Even though he's pretty well tempered, he never losses his competativeness. He'll compete with anyone about anything to a point where it's ridiculous.This often gets him into arguments pretty quickly. He dosen't really care if he wins petty little arguments or not, as long as he can beat an opponet at a race he's content!

History: Nuke was born to a retired sled dog (mother) who fell head over paws for the german shepherd who gaurded their house. (father) However their owner was one of the greatest most paticular mushers in town. At first this man was pleased with the litter since they all looked purebred, until he caught a glimpse of Nuke. The man relized it was the german shephered who had ruined these pups so he got rid of the dog (Nuke never knew his father) and caused their mother to go into depression for a short time. The man was able to make a good fortune off the pups who looked purebred but couldn't sell Nuke. He decided to use the dog and started training him to haul wood, makeing him incredably strong and giving him muscles of steel. However, like everyone Nuke wasn't perfect and when he displeased his master Nuke was beaten or whipped. So Nuke attempted to be perfect at everything he did. One night the master's son had come to visit. Telling stories of how he was hopeing to start a sled team, Nuke admired these stories just as the boy admired Nuke. When Nuke failed to deliver a heavy load of wood to the barn he was beaten brutely by his master, thankfully as he was about to slip into unconciousness the younger man stepped in and defended Nuke from his father's rage. The boy against his father's will took Nuke home with him. Nuke became very happy in his new home, he was free to run and enjoyed raceing against the local dogs. Soon his master bought a team of dogs and Nuke had the honor of being the lead dog. Nuke ran lots of races and won all of them makeing him very competative. One day a more experienced musher challenged Nuke's master to a race. On the condition that he sell Nuke, knowing with out him the team were weak and usless. They agreed and Nuke was put against a malmute named Steele. After a race full of cheating Nuke's team lost, and Nuke was sold much to his dismay. He was forced to Leave his beloved home and owner, and sold to another musher. On this team however Nuke wasn't the lead dog but he tries to prove himself to the leader Canton.

Why I want Nuke: I've always adored Nuke since I first came to this site and would love to adopt him
