Jack gave a sigh. "I thought I heard something behind me..." He said as he turned in his chair.

"So why do ya do it so much Annie?" Emirme asked as the scythe fell and he caught it in the middle of the shaft. "You know you just get in trouble."

"I don't know. Really - its the only time me and my parents talk..." She said softly.

"I got her last time - can you find her?" She said it like it was a chore. Sally looked up at Jack "Don't scare her off though - when you do."

"Yeah, everyone knows you guys butt heads about Halloween." The scruffy boy gave a nod. "Makes me wonder how you and I get along, since I also like Halloween."

"Well - for one, you don't try to make me join in it, and give me this look when I show uninterested in it. "Annie said simply.

"Jack?" Sally asked.

"What look?" Emirme asked.

"Alright, I'll go." He sighed as he stood up and stretched. "Any idea where she may be?"

Annie immitated the look. It was a dissapointed frown follwed by a nod.

"Anywhere where she think you won't be." Sally said. She kept on sewing his costume.

Jack gave a nod and started to head down the stairs.

A bark-like laugh escaped him. "I seriously look that doom-and-gloom?" He asked, grinning.

Annie smiled, "Yes." She teased him. "all the time."

Sally watched Jack leave.

"Guess that means I'm handsome then." Emirme said, trying to look proud. But it was hard to do so when clothes were as shabby as his were.

When Jack was out the door he took a good look around. He wondered if the citizens had seen his daughter pass by.

"It would look better if you didn't look so shabby." Annie grinned. She was one to be talking - her stiches had been unattended to for some time, her skirt torn abit as well.

Lock, Shock, and Barrell were in Halloween Town. It was a bit odd for them to be early, but they loved trouble. Shock noticed Jack and she grinned.

The werewolf glanced down at his attire. "Yeah true. But us werewolves can't exactly afford to wear fancy tuxedos can we?" He said with a smile.

Oh no... Jack thought when he saw the troublesome trio.

"Huh? True." She laughed abit. "But you could brush your teeth."

"Hello Jack!" Lock said, in his devil costume.

"Nah, I'm good." he said as he twirled his scythe idly.

"Hello Lock. You guys are unusually early this year." The Pumpkin King said, scratching his head.
