Hell, meat is meat. If I want to try something, I'm going to try it. If I were out east and a cafe or something offered dog meat, I'd try it. Same with cat, wolf, tiger, shark, etc.

So far I've had alligator, ostrich, buffalo (a.k.a. American Bison), rabbit, venison (deer), turkey, all sorts of seafood/fish, little bits of horse (in stew years ago, and I love horses, mind you!).

Does this make me a "savage" or a "brute"? NO!

Every animal has its own "sacred place," a society in which it's put on a pedestal. Meanwhile, there are people that realize that "meat is meat" and "food is food." If you were trapped in the wilderness with only your horse and dog, bordering starvation, wouldn't you kill/eat one of them? Both of them? Personally I would (probably my dog first; the dog can't carry me places or alert me of dangers as quickly as a horse, let alone help me get away quickly).

It's all a matter of survival. Not being on a hunting trip for food (not game) and thinking: "Oh, I really like deer. I can't kill a deer!"

People just think too darn much about trivial things.

How could you kill your doggy or horsie?
Couldn't you have used that same.. object' (if an object) to kill another animal for food? o3o
I can't kill my pet.. he'd run away xD

When it comes to survival emotional attachment to animals is out of the question. I mean, by the sounds of it a lot of these kids would die before they killed a wolf. And when I have a husband and child to come home to, my dog dying is a lot better than me dying because "IT'S TTLY RONG."

I mean, it's like eating a bug. Example: maggots can hold essential proteins you need to survive when low on food/energy. Maggots are seen as vile creatures, a sign of filth and decay. So, eat a maggot or risk starving to death: which would you choose?

Americans have gotten "pets" to a family-member status and their favorite animals on an all but ill-deserved pedestal. If it weren't for that, no one would have problems eating a dog, cat, wolf, etc.

I get what you mean, heck my child comes before any animal out there, pet or not.
But people do form close attachments to pets, whether it be as a companion or even a life savor.
And how things are going so far, it would take quite the years before I go outside and see someone eating their pets o3O
That.. or we go vegetarian xD
      -
But you didn't answer my question, about how would you kill them? XD
and oh yea I'm eating a maggot before starving to death... but not roaches.. I would die before eating one of those XD

Yea- once. It was good. Wish I had more.

Wolves are OK to me, but I put my health before them.
Heck, I bet that wolf would eat me if It had to. I love my survial more than animals.

Really? That's awesome. (:

And wolves don't care about us, they'd happily kill and eat us in a heartbeat with no remorse.

Nope, none. They were all wiped out of Britain years ago, which is a shame - it means less meat.

(Britain has a thing about dangerous wild animals. xD We love them as long as they're in other countries; we don't want them here no sir'ee! (sarcasm))

On-topic;

Personally - I probably wouldn't if someone said "Hey, wanna have a wolf steak?" because knowing what I'm eating would likely make me feel weird. If I ate a steak and afterward someone said "Btw, that was wolf meat." I'd probably not care about the fact I'd eaten aside from asking where the meat had come from. (I'd hate to have eaten an animal which had been illegally killed just for it's meat, unlikely with a wolf but still.)
The same would go for anything really.

I am complete a meat lover, I enjoy eating meat, however I agree with what someone brought up earlier (forget who, posts too long to go back through); it's pretty terrible what the usual meat-source animals often go through for the sake of feeding everyone.
I'd happily learn to hunt or pay a hunter to kill and prepare my meat for me when I wanted it but the chances of that happening are pretty much nil. It's just way too far into farming animals to be slaughtered now.

I'd also refuse to ever eat an animal which was endangered, or eat something which was made from a part of an animal which was endangered (like shark fin soup, urgh.).

Us people from the UK don't seem to like anything that involves any slight danger xDD

Anyway...

Personally, I would try it. I'll try anything that is put infront of me because frankly, if the animal is already dead and on my plate, there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, however much of a fuss I put up. Simple as that really.

And just one thing, gray wolves are NOT endangered. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_wolf

I'm sorry, I misread your post. ^^'

The only reason I would ever be out somewhere like that is on a hunting excursion; so a knife or two, perhaps a gun. If it got to the point where I would have to rely on my companion(s) for food I would be more likely to use some sort of quick, lethal blow. Because the last thing I want is to, first of all have to eat my dog, watch it suffer because of me. If I shouldn't have such tools at my disposal (example: preserve ammunition, use blades), it'd be a force to get creative. Find an alternative source of food or figure it out. I mean, no one can live on the nutrients of plants and bugs alone anyway. XD

Totally agree with you
I'll still end up eating a fish or something before my dog though..
Aside that I love his cuteness, he'd offer me company that i wouldn't have.. and it's better to die with something
rather then to die alone D8
or I'd die of a hairball xD
