Question #1: What is up with Simba being so overprotective about Kiara?
I thik the reason Simba was so overprotective was because of all the tragedy He suffered through in His life,The when He found happiness again(Returned Home, Became King, Married Nala, Had a Daughter)that He was terrified that something horible wold happen, And take it all away.

Question #2: Why did Simba forget what he had told Kovu: "Sometimes, what's left behind can grow better than the generation before... if given the chance"?
I don't think Simba forgot anything. Simbas anger was not so much because He thought Kovu had betraed Him, But because He thought Kovu had toyed with Kiara's heart in order to betray Him. When Simba exsiled Kovu, In Simbas mind He was not only punishing an Evildoer, But also protecting His Daughter.

Hmm, that makes a good point too. I think he was thinking about what was best for him and his kingdom (note: what he wanted; you know he wanted to be like his father: a great king), but Kiara proved to be the wiser of them by thinking about what was best for all (and also for telling her father that no matter how much he tried, he'll never be his father).

I agree that that Kiara saying "You will never be Mufasa" although hurtfull was somthing Simba needed to hear. Being that He was trying so hard to be like Mufasa that He ran the risk of fogeting Who He was(If that makes any sence). Also the fact that Kiara did not let anger cloud Her Judgement did(in that instance) make Her wiser than Her Father.

True, true.

I guess him hearing his own daughter say that to him was like a slap in the face. Yes, he needed that a lot. I guess it was like snapping back into reality. It must have been something that Mufasa wanted to happen, for his son's sake. He probably knew that Kiara was maturing and yet Simba was not allowing her to show her skills on her own. (Sounds a bit like Wolf Quest if you ask me; you know, the whole spiritual intervention thing . . . yeah.) Thank goodness everything worked out in the end.

Yes. It is similar to Wolf Quest. But, unlike some of you, I liked both SP and WQ. Maybe I like them because the're similar. Maybe I noticed they were similar because I like them. I guess I can be considered an outcast sequel-hugger.

Ah, yes. The big similarities of WQ and SP . . .

The overprotective fathers and their young, yet wise daughters . . . . typical.

I like both movies too, so you're not alone on that . . .

Anywho, here's something to add to what I was saying in my last post:

SimbasGuard: You said that Simba was trying so hard to be like his father that he was almost forgetting who he was. Well, hadn't he tried doing that in the first film? He ran away and tried to forget his father's death (since Scar blamed it on him) until he got the hurtful (?) truth that you can't change the past and who you really are.

Strange how he couldn't remember that. I guess being a king is harder than he expected.

Reading this thread I realized how disappointed I am now with the second movie, it could have been so good with a movie release and everything but it kind of got ruined, but TLK2 is a good sequal compared to other movies so I guess I shouldn't complain, but Simba's character was just changed too much. I know he didn't want the same thing to happen to Kiara that happened to him when he was a kid but Simba knows that he wouldn't like to be treated the same way if he was a cub. And Nala didn't play a big enough roll. Knowning Nala from the first film she'd get angry at Simba and say something if he was being so strict with Kiara but she wasn't. Plus, they didn't refer back to the original lion king as much as I wanted them too. They barely talk about Mufasa or what happened to Simba and it seems that the fact was totally erased the Scar is Simba's uncle.

Simba was overprotective because he's son Kopa was killed. He didn't want that to happen to Kiara so he overprotected her.
He exiled him after that quote because 1:He was Scar's heir and 2:His supposed to be family ambushed Simba. That's what I say.

the reason that he was so overprotective was because he didnt want what happened to him him to happen to kiara and the second thing about im being a prick...how would you feel if you were ambushed by a whole bunch of lions and thought that the one you were going to give a second chance to planned it all...i mean yea simba could have let kovu explain himself...but he was furious...and personally i would be to
