Hmm.. Now that I think about it, the middle school has a 9/11 trail. Every 9/11 they get the middle schoolers to walk up it. (since our school is on the bottom of a mountain, (middle and High schools) They get to walk to the top of a mountain xD

And there is a rock for every person who died in the attack, on the side of the trail, it ends a ways up, but yeah. Thats what they do.

Since I am not in the middle school anymore I don't walk up it anymore xD

Returning myself to the topic, and the chance to speak about it, I recall that I was working that morning (as most adults were) in my office in the company I worked for, and someone in the office caught an early internet report about it. We then dug out a small black & white portable television we had stored away, and tuned it into a local news channel to get what information we could. At that point, the only thing on our minds was the situation in New York (we didn't even know yet about D.C. or Flight 93 in PA, though that was soon to come).

As most other people who heard the early reports, we thought it was a small plane that had lost navigation, or perhaps was a distraught private pilot with some deep-seated issues. Certainly not an airliner. When we finally did see video of it, it was galling. And we were shocked, overwhelmed and confused. The first thoughts everyone (including the news) had was that a plane had somehow experienced a failure in its navigation controls. But the second plane changed things. Then there were the pressing, frightening questions of "who?" "Why?" "HOW?"

When the plane in D.C. hit the Pentagon, the next thing I did was to call my sister (who works in the D.C. area) to see if she was okay (my parents had done likewise from where they were working), and I was relieved to find that she was.

It ended up being a very upsetting and disillusioning day. And as things progressed, and we learned of terrorist activity, then the anger came. Such anger that has not been seen in this nation since the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor back in 1941. I was JUST short of the maximum cut-off age for enlistment in the Army and the Marine Corps, and I can tell you that the idea tossed back and forth in my head of enlisting. I ended up not doing so (and not out of any fear or lack of patriotism, mind you, but because I just wanted to cool off a bit before rushing into something like that. Soon enough, I did cool off).

Much has come out about the disaster and the attacks since. And I definitely don't buy any of the consipiracy theory nonsense. Nor has my patriotism dimmed in the least. I remember...and the memory is long. And that is something that is in the national character of the American people (and I say this not in a provocative way, but as a matter of clarification).

I feel so shaky whenever I think about those poor, poor people. However, I was quite young around the time, 4, I think. I don't actually remember the reactions. It's awful, no-one that day deserved to die.

On topic : A question; How does yours school remember 9/11? Our school did slideshows about it. Took a moment of silence for those people who lost their lives. (I'm curious) And my other schools talked about it, though not deeply.

We do a Power Point too and a minute of silence/remembrance.

RIP to all those innocent people who didn't deserve to die in such an awful way on the 11th of September 2001

I was 7 when this happened. I was sitting in class and an anouncement came on saying that the first tower had been struck. I don't remember much or what my reaction was. I was kinda young to understand.

My mom got to see the towers fall from where she worked. She started to pray and her printer that was off turned on and printed out a little heart. Guess it was one of the victims saying thanks. We still have the little heart.

I have an idea of where you're coming from with the increase of patriotism after the attacks. My cousin signed up right away and joined the Army's 1st Infantry Division at the age of 22. It inspired me to look into the service as well when I was old enough since I was only 12 at the time.

There's something in my head that still reminds, and I *think* I remember it, as I was 4 yrs old... This is a real tragedy, and I'll always feel very bad for it (and I think most of Lithuanians like me will do too).

I just watched the report on news on TV about this. I must admit that I almost cried, while watching those planes crashing into Pentagon... Seriously, I almost cried :(

R.I.P to all the people who died there...They'll never be forgotten :(

As you can see, I have put a little something in my signature, for even if I WASN'T an American, I would still like to have something to remember this sad day, and to remember all the brave men and women who fought to save as many as they could, such as the NY Fire and Police departments.

And to answer Question's question, we normally have a moment of silence in the morning during school announcements, and being this year it is Saturday that this day lands, on Tuesday(which was our last day of school this week), and that it is American History this year, we spent our Social Studies lesson talking about September 11, 2001.

And though I do wish for terrorism to stop, I do not think war is much better that it. But in order to NOT start a flame war, or anything like it, I won't say anything else about it.

Anyways, today I watched the Name Readings, and I tell you that it was rather depressing. Four hours to read names for those who died? That proves how horrible it was, and how many died, sadly. My mom said she met two people who worked in the WTC, and they both survived.

One was running late, caught the train and when was in NY, went into the building a few minutes late. Then, because it is routine, he went back to get his daily newspaper and coffee. Exactly as he paid the man for his things, the first plane hit. So in realization, a newspaper and a cup of coffee saved his life, because I'm pretty sure he would not have lived otherwise.

Another said she was so upset that day, because she had missed her train, and when she watched the news that day, she wasn't all that upset anymore.

Now, I can't remember a thing from that day, I was only four, but I'm old enough to know that I wouldn't have wanted to remember seeing the news. It might not have done anything but scare me half to death to this day.

And as I type this, my mom is in New York. And she had to go through a tunnel today. And every time she does so, I'm afraid that when I say goodbye to her as she leaves, it might be the last time I ever see her. Because there is always the chance that something will happen. As much as we don't think about it 24 hours a day, it could happen. I really pray that it doesn't happen, but it could. I'm sure she is safe now, because she's not in the tunnel anymore, but when she has to come back to get home through it, I'll be paranoid.

But anyways, may all be remembered today. The workers, the firefighters and policemen(and women), and of course, their families. September 11, 2001 will be one of the most remembered days in American and WORLD history. Even though not for a good reason such as the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, it will be remembered just as much.

This past day was the marker of the most tragic moment in American history.

I just wanna say one last word...

You are why America is so wonderful. All of those who ran into the burning buildings, all of those who gave up the rest of their lives for the benefits of seeing others get a chance. All of the co-workers who stayed in the building to comfort somebody in their last moments. To all of those who carried out the women with the broken anckle and couldn't make it down the stairs. To all the heroes and heroins that tragic day. You are why America is one of the greatest countries on this planet. You are why I love this country. You are the life of America. All of the fallen are the beating heart of America. As long as we stay together nothing can bring us down. The terrorists tried to tear us apart but all they did was make us stronger. This country has an everlasting bond with its people and the bond came through that one day.

To all of the fallen men of women of 9/11 and to all of the fallen men and women who braved their lives in both the armed forces and in the police and fire departments. Thank you for your heroic and deticated service to this country. You keep the American heart going, you keep us safe, you keep us strong...

Thanks

Absolutely ridiculous and insulting. And it has already been proven that the conspiracy theories are without merit.

If you have nothing positive and/or supportive to offer, don't offer anything.
