Thor tore a piece of meet from the now bare piece of bone. His chops were bloody and chapped, causing him to slide his thick tongue along them. Sometimes a good meal was hard to come by this high in the mountains..he usually was forced to prey on smaller goats or rodents. The larger game was down below in the valley..and due to recent events it was a rather unbecoming option to travel there. Tossing the bone aside with his paw, he forced himself onto toned limbs and stretched. His muscles reacted with screams of pleasure. Giving his neck one more good stretch, he made his way back down a nearby path; leading out to a small ledge that looked down over the mountain side.

A storm cloud hovered high above; along with small fragments of ice and snow descending from the heavens. A spec fell upon his muzzle, causing him to go cross eyed for a few moments before shacking it from his fur. His bright eyes continued to scan the regions far below him. Everything seemed so much different now...as if the land had taken the very spirit of its inhabitants for its own image. The valley use to be thriving with life and glory...the kind you would find from wolves passing through to enjoy the spectacle such luscious surroundings gave off.

Now, however, all was rather quiet. Sure some still lived there...but it wasn't the golden beacon of life it had once been. Perhaps that had to do with the Astrals...then again...perhaps it didn't. Shaking his head again, Thor gave a small sigh and rested on his stomach. A shot of lightning split the sky high above, causing his fur to spring up in excitement as energy filled his muscles. He wasn't one to question anybody..but ever since Zhivel and his mate Hispeth seized relative power through their corrupted mindset, wolves didn't seem to thrive.

He was well aware of the strict mandates they had set in place involving mating and clan rights...but those seldom caused him issues..since he didn't claim a mate nor pack to call his own. After all...who was he to change the way of the world. Such thoughts almost seemed unnatural...be he still couldn't help but let his mind drift. When he once visited the clans below, he would gather all the information possible involving these Astrals. It was a powerful breed indeed...and it was this same power that had caused devious mindsets upon the leaders. He had hoped their influence wouldn't spread so far..as all clans should have the right to decide how life was to be lived.

Having power is one thing...but wielding it with such irresponsibility was disturbing indeed. Nevertheless, he found that high up in the mountains they wouldn't bother him....at least not yet. Shaking his head once more, he lifted himself and proceeded back towards the center of the mountains; content to loose all the thoughts gathered within the last several minutes.

Matya's amber eyes flashed, even though the sun's midmorning glow was dulled by the storm clouds, spread far and thin over the sky. A softy yawn begged to come out, and she obliged, her pink tongue curling, blocked somewhat by her teeth. Snow was already falling, and though it was gentle now, the she-wolf knew from experience that the flow would soon thicken, though from the looks of the sky, it didn't look like it would become a full-force blizzard. For that, she was thankful. Her ribs were already beginning to show, and her body had a lean look to it that it didn't normally possess.

Food would have to be eaten soon, and Matya could tell this would be a good hunting day. Almost immediatly, she headed towards where the trees were thicker, where most of the components of her meat-filled diet lived. A soft, liquid rumble cut through the air, and she stiffened, before realizing it was only her stomach. A sheepish grin flitted across her face, even though no one was there to witness her small form of embarrassment. The scent of rabbit pulled her away from her thoughts and she dropped into a crouch, her muscles groaning, still stiff from sleep.

As the white rabbit came into view, Matya's eyes lit up, and she began to salivate. Swallowing, she slowly stalked forward, refusing to let the prey escape. As she pounced, the rabbit let loose a startled cry, and made a bolt for it. He moved too late, and he was soon no more than a patch of fur on the ground, the rest residing in Matya's stomach. She licked her muzzle in satisfaction, allowing her eyes to close in contentment for one second. A protesting stomach brought her back into reality once more.

Though the rabbit had provided welcome sustenance, it wasn't enough, not when she hadn't had a good meal in this long. Dropping back into her hunting crouch, she slowly moved through the forest, ears pricked, eyes alert, and senses on high. After what seemed to be a long day of hunting, though in reality it wasn't that long, she had caught another rabbit, and a squirrel. Normally, she hated the annoying tree-climbers, but her detrmination to get a good meal had led her to eat it.

She was now working on eating the rabbit, gnawing at a leg bone. The marrow inside would be a delicious treat, and she could even save the other bones for later, as something to pass the time, or as a substitute for food when prey was scarce. Releculantly, she finished the small treat, teh last scraps of meat going down with it. With her belly full, she began heading back to her den, the bones in her mouth clacking together as she walked.

Quilat was wandering around the pack's territory. The day was boring, and he didn't know what he could do on such a boring day. He stretched, and layed down, feeling lazier than ever before. He looked around. Nobody from his pack, the all mighty Astral pack, weren't here at this time. They were probably off scouting or something like that.

And Quilat was quite happy for it. That was the time when he remember someone he didn't think of lately: his parents. His father and mother, who at the moment might be dead from starving. He put his head on his forelegs, and looked at the ground. He made a loud sigh, and closed his eyes.

His mind ran back to the times when he was still a little pup, playing with little rabbits nearby the old, abandoned cave they lived in, deep in forest. They already had limited number of food, but he still enjoyed or at least tried to enjoy the short puppyhood to the best. He knew that something was wrong, but as long as he had something to eat, he was happy...

Till he grew up. His parents became very weak, and now Quilat was mostly the one to hunt and bring food to home. At the place where they were living, there weren't many animals around, except some little ones like rabbits, squirrels and so. It was harder and harder for Quilat to keep his family alive...

Soon enough he realized that there was no way he could help his parents much and that he needed to care about his own future. He left his almost starving parents, with a promise to come back someday...If they were still alive...

Quilat opened his eyes, and shook his head. He knew what he promised, and hoped that his parents would understand that he cannot go back...Whether they're in heaven or earth... He was a member, a warrior of Astral pack, pack of the mightiest wolves with the strictest rules. Pack that should, sooner or later, rule every territory around... Quilat stood up, and headed back to the pack's cave. He wanted to be there if anybody needed his help.

Jet awoke to the morning sun coming up in the sky. He yawned silently, stretching his limbs. After doing so, he stepped out of the cave he had called home the previous night. With the sun glaring in his light blue eyes, making them shine even more than they normally would, he turned his head toward the sky.

He was in a happy, light mood. Nothing could spoil this perfect moment. Nothing except... an Astral wolf. His thoughts quickly faded from the beautiful morning scenery to the 'oh so powerful' pack who was soon to take over everything in sight. He growled lowly, causing thunder to appear. There was a flicker of lightning as well. It seemed to come out of no where. As he realized that his emotions were taking him over, he quickly calmed down. He began breathing, slowly, in and out.

Once he calmed down a bit, and was back to his happy state, he began to walk over to the last place he had seen the alpha. He sniffed the air about twice before picking up her scent. The second the smell began to drift through his nostrils, he went off in search for her.

A revolution was coming soon. Soon things would be different than they had been for so long. They would return back to the way things were. When all wolves had the pack and territory of their choice. Only small disagreements here and there seperated them.

The sun was setting somewhere behind those clouds that were littering the earth with snow. The storm would likely only get worse as the night deepened, but it was still early enough in the year that by the next day, all traces of the white flakes would be gone, replaced by moist ground and light sunshine. It might even be moderately warm if the system moved quickly. Even if it were, in a month's time winter would have its icy grip on the land once more.

A bird cried somewhere above, and in response a wolf with one blue eye and one amber eye glanced up to the tree tops. Patches of white fur surrounded both eyes and then were lost in the sea of tan fur that covered most of her body. Black ears sprang from the center of her head and her muzzle looked as though someone had rolled over it with a paint roller dipped in the same black. The underside of her muzzle, rebellious as it was, started a trend of white that ran completely down her underside, with little patches of black interrupting near what could be construed as her shoulders, knees, and the tip of her tail. The white, not to be outdone and in a last ditch effort to make the female's frame flashy, blazed a trail along her spine from her withers to the very end of her croup. She stood on a frame that some might consider willowy, and with no gray fur in site it was easy to see she was a bit young.

Asphodel gazed at the bird for quite some time before turning and moving on under the trees. She had other, more pressing matters to deal with unfortunately. Her legs beat in time to a quick rhythm and, ever watchful, she made her way back toward the area of Jet's cave. A low peel of thunder made her glance up for a second, but she didn't bother to stop. Several moments later, and after catching the scent of something dead nearby, she spotted the male wolf a short distance away and woofed at him. It wasn't a very dignified greeting, but being that it was just the two of them, she didn't feel like being dignified at the moment.

"I just finished surveying the area. It seems nice enough."

She spoke carefully, waiting to really put any enthusiasm in her opinion of the surrounding territory. In truth, she'd like it a lot. It was picturesque; a small field lay roughly fifty meters to their north, with a formidable boulder resting curiously in the center against an old willow tree, though there didn't seem to really be any place for it to have come from. All around the field and throughout the rest of the area were trees, packed densely in some places and loosely in others. A stream semi-circled its way through the trees and partially around the field, though there was quite a distance between them both on any given side. The stream led to a tiny waterfall and pool, which upon further investigation had a grotto like area behind it. The great mountain was on the total north side of the area, and it would lend some protection from the vast majority of the dangerous weather. All in all it seemed like a smart place to claim for the pack she was planning.

Of course, perhaps the best trait of all was its distance from the Astral territory. It would provide shelter and cover for the fledgling pack as they built their numbers and a safe haven for any fleeing the tyranny to their east. No wolf or other menacing scent had touched this place from what she could tell. That fact alone made As want to claim the area more than anything. She was so tired of searching fruitlessly, especially after being pleasantly surprised here. It was as though this place had been calling her all along, and now that she'd found it she couldn't deny that it seemed perfect to her.

"What do you think? Or have you been sleeping instead of looking around?" she casually joked, a smile crawling onto her muzzle.

A dark brown wolf lay stretched across a flat rock, basking in what little sunlight filtered through the clouds. His fur, lighter in the places where strange tribal symbols had been etched into it and the very skin that lay beneath it, ruffled lightly in the breeze. Anywhere but the Nexxus it would have been a strange sight, those symbols, and certainly the mane that also adorned his cranial area. Of course, other than those two features the other thing those not from the Nexxus would have noticed right away was his sheer size. At full, anthropomorphic height he easily dwarfed many human men, and many of his own kind as well. And Zhivel used his size to his advantage.

Presently however, he was content to lay there, digesting the meal he'd consumed earlier that morning. His ears flicked restlessly as he listened to his surroundings. The chatter mostly came from the animals in the trees nearby, but he also detected the voices of some of the pack, quite a way off. Normally he would have called them out as being lazy, but since he heard them sparring, he was more than happy to leave them to it. After all, practice was never a bad thing.

A few moments later, he caught the light tread of another coming his way. He was certain it had to be Quilat by the pattern of the footfalls.

"What do you want, Quilat?" he asked with false sleepiness in his voice.

He rolled to face the other, but didn't open his eyes. Had he, he still would have seen the other despite the massive scars on his eyelids and the milky gray pupils that screamed cataracts and blindness. Of course, it wouldn't be the normal kind of sight that most wolves had. Despite still being able to see, in a manner of speaking, he wasn't candid with the fact, and few wolves other than Hispeth knew of this ability. Most just assumed that his ears had taken over for his lack of sight with spooky accuracy, which of course was also very true.

Asphodel...the name would constantly ring in his ears for the large wolf whose sadness is only deepened by the sight in front of him. What was the point of trying to explore, he thought sadly to himself as he rested in his cave looking out to storm that was only getting worse as the time pushed on. As much as he wanted to though, he roamed out of the cave letting the rain wash over him trying to let his sorrows rinse off of him as a soft howl parted from his own muzzle colored dark red and black with only the bruises and scars of fighting discoloring his fur. Full of sadness and hate, he wanted nothing else than to be able to just leave the Astrals and spend his time with the pack he grew up from his childhood.

However, once you were chosen by the Astrals, all evidence of your past history, your past life was no more all that existed was trying to make sure he was not on the bad side of his alpha which apparently the poor wolf known as Quilat had done with their alpha. He ran up to Quilat's side hopefully acknowledging his rank as Beta and second-in-command would be enough to spare him the wrath of the alpha.

"He does not want anything, leader, he just wishes you the best of days right Quilat," he said looking to the warrior who was in similar age to him ", right Quilat?"

Hitze was indifferent to the snowy weather. He rather liked it to be honest. Because of the way he was born, his body couldn't retain color so he was an albino. But not just albino. It was impossible to know what Hitze was looking at due to his lack of pupils and neither eye had an iris. There were just white all around. Strange as this might be, he was not blind. He had full use of his eyes in every sense, there was no handicap. He could see just as good as any wolf.
Another unique feature of Hitze's was the parts of a wolf's body that should have color... didnt. Such as his nose, paw pads, the insides of his ears. Usually pink or black, his were completely white.

Looking the way he did, it's not hard at all to guess why he enjoyed the snow. He blended in perfectly. He doubted that this snow would amount to much though. He breathed out and saw his breath fog in front of his nose. 'Strange, i hadn't even noticed the cold' Hitze thought to himself. The fire burning inside him kept his body warm through the cold seasons.
He was given another small surprise by the strange crack of thunder above. Snow and thunder? And the sun out? That wasn't something he had seen before. 'There's something about this place..... I like it'

He stood on the bank of a river watching it flow downstream with mild interest. What he was trying to figure out was why he could smell the scent of wolves here, but there were none in sight. Were they rogue wolves hiding in the shadows, watching him? Waiting to see if he showed signs of his unique ability? He didn't know what to believe to be honest. With his recent flight from the Astral Pack, having grown tired of their increasingly controlling ways and their constantly growing tyranny. Yes... he was an Astral wolf. Former Astral wolf now. But still, others would label him a threat if they knew that. Former or not, he doubted they would see a difference and it wasn't a chance he wanted to take. So he had decided to keep his past life secret and restrain himself from using the ability he had been born with.

The smell of brimstone and sulfur reached his nose. It was distant, very weak. He only caught it when the wind blew. He wouldn't have thought anything of it were in not for how strangely i wasn't there, then for a few moments it was, then gone again. Looking up from the river he peered around for where the smell could have come from. His eyes were searching for the minerals that he had scented, not the wolf that had recently come through there.

Out of sheer boredom he decided to try and find the source of the smell. At least it would kill some time. So, padding downstream, he unknowingly headed in the direction of Jet's cave where the two wolves now resided in conversation.

Pale colored paws slowly left imprints on the lightly packed snow, sometimes heavy enough to reveal red leaves below the white blanket cover. The figure moved quietly along the area, the sun hidden behind thick veils of that white fluffy thing we now called clouds. Pale charcoal colored nose twitched lightly, taking samples of the air and just how moist it was. Water had never been a problem with her, she loved to romp in it's powerful, and inviting currents. Now it didn't take more then a few footfalls to have her paws suddenly sink into the ground some, the moist wet earth around them giving way instantly to her weight. Grunting roughly she leaned back, snatching her paw back rather slowly, watching the small beads of wet earth drip from the ends of her paw pads.

Very slowly, her nose began to wrinkle as she limped backwards not wanting to make the same mistake twice and shook out her paw freely. This action sent a few drops of earth aside but her paw was still dark. It was quite the contrast against her naturally pale fur, the combination of dark and light where always opposites. But then again, not like anyone was around, and in a place like this, she figured not many did come. Slowly she curled her ears back on her thick skull and trotted a few meters from the water's edge, trying to circle around the area. With her head slightly lowered, and tail flagged in a slightly dominant nature she moved on though. Weaving along the area like an expert, for she was one of the many few that loved the marshy swamp area, but she knew all to well it would freeze up come winter.

By now Norte had grown accustomed to wagging her tail about no one could tell her what to do, nor did she like being told what to do with given exceptions. The rhythmical beating of her paws were slightly sloshed as her nails tore the ground up a tiny bit. Tongue lowly forked between her front fangs as she looked about, hr bi eyes slowly sampling the area before she moved forward. The clap of thunder made her head rise up in a quick, snap like motion. Blinking slowly she observed the sky overhead before muttering something under her breath. The femme was cautious of nature's electrical shows, along with being her most famished weakness, she disliked sharp, loud booming noises. A bit of mist curled up from her nares as she widened them, glancing around quietly and then looking back, as if she were pondering about something.

In all honesty, this female was getting bored of wandering alone for the past 18 months. She yearned companionship, just like any other of her species would want. A wolf was a pack animal, not matter how advanced they were, whether mentally, physically or elementally, it was natural. A low grunt emanated from her lips as she moved forward, knowing that the mountains crest were up ahead, maybe a few hundred yard ahead. Her tail briskly lashed back and forth against her flanks as her ears rolled forward, the scent of the mountains coming to her.

Ooc: The role of Hispeth is now open, seeing as efforts to contact Felicity have failed. Posing can now continue normally, with the order specified above.

Thor scratched a tick from the depths of his fur. Life up int he mountains had its moments...but unless it was a raging thunderstorm their was no true reason for him to wander within the lonely peak's confines. Turning on edge, he made his way back to the large slab of granite that serviced as his viewing point. Looking over slowly, the spark in his eyes dulled slightly as he imagined what was going on far below.

Marshlands.....stinking marshlands surrounded the base of the mountain. Needless to say, they were not his most favorite place to be. Anything involving water could cause a vast amount of harm to any around him...should he discharge by accident. A small snowflake landed upon his nose, causing him to once more go cross eyed before shaking it loose. Looking back over his shoulder; sharp eyes detected no storm clouds in sight.

"Well...I guess no better time then the present..." he muttered to himself before lifting his frame from the rock and moving to the right, finding a very overgrown yet servicable path that led to the mountains base several thousand feet below. He would be sure to not mix himself up with any of the nearby clans...but receiving no news for several months prompted some kind of action. Perhaps another loaner...or wanderer that had contact with the clans.

About an hour went by before he found himself safely at the base; looking out upon a seemingly endless array of marshes and ponds. Gritting his fangs, Thor slowly started to step forth, hoping that he wouldn't find himself falling headfirst into a hidden mud hole. Thankfully, his superior senses and light paws allowed him to easily traverse the lowlands.

Despite the clear indication that he was alone, the smallest of shivers slowly crawled upon Thor's spine. That was the feeling any loaner or traveler should have in perilous times like these. The Astrals had spies covering the land...or simple loyal pack members, and Thor was in no mood to meat either. Keeping his frame low to the wet ground, a shrill growl slid from his maw to the feeling of swampy water brushing against his belly.

The sooner he got out of this forsaken jungle of disease the better...and the small voice crawling along the back of his brain was telling him to double time....

Matya threaded her way through the sparse trees and the snowy bushes, her paw prints soon covered up by the snow, which had been gradually growing in strength. She sneezed in surprise as a flake landed on her nose, leaving a cold, wet feeling radiating from the tiny spot. She shook her head to get rid of the sensation, and continued on, hoping fervently that this wouldn't develop into a blizzard.

While she had just hunted, she would need to repeat the porcess again tonight, and sometime tomorrow. A wolf needed more than a couple of rabbits and a squirrel for sustenance, and a blizzard would deny her the ability to hunt for more food. She sighed lightly, the sound containing a whistling note, gained from the bones in her mouth.

Her train of thought was broken as a familiar rocky surface met her eyes. The amber depths lit up at the sight, and she quickened her pace, eager to be inside her den. Dropping the bones into a corner, she winced at the sounds they made, particularily the crack as one of them snapped. She tried to ignore it, and curled up next to the wall, trying to retain body heat. If her fears of a blizzard were right, she would be glad of the warmth later. Matya's small, lean frame relaxed a fraction as she settled fown to watch the snow.

Quilat looked at the beta wolf, Ryder. He always liked Ryder, and he knew that their past were similar. Quilat sighed, and nodded. “He’s right, Alpha Zhivel. I just wish you the best of days, dear Alpha. “He said seriously, and very silently, but Ryder and Zhivel could still hear him.

He then looked around. At the morning weather was pretty good, sunny, but now Quilat could see some clouds coming. This day made him think about many things, but now he wanted to concentrate to his duties in the pack. He looked at Ryder and Zhivel. “ Alpha, Ryder, are there any intruders there? Or rivaling packs? I have nothing to do at the moment…”He said, kind of smiling. But, from their expressions he could tell that no one’s around here that could worry them. And Quilat hated those days. He felt how his badass, aggressive personality came back to him.

He looked at the ground, and noticed a mouse, running between his paws. He caught her, and laid down, playing with mouse, listening to every sound around him. He was bored, and sleepiness almost won him over. He then stood up. “I’m very tired. I guess I’ll go look around the territory, if you don’t mind, Alpha. Whenever there’s something wrong here, I’ll come as soon as possible.” He said, and walked away. He went to a place in their territory that he liked the most. Place, where he could forget about everything and relax, watching over the territory at the same time. It was a hill, tall hill, from which you could see half of the forest around.

Quilat finally arrived there, and ran on that hill. He laid down, and looked around, observing the territory. Then his mind again blew back to his puppyhood times. He saw some lone wolves, wandering around near the territory, and sighed. He was, indeed, lucky to be in a pack, where he was fed, was safe, had a comfortable life. But…He wanted more freedom. He wanted to go and look for his parents, maybe even siblings, cousins, uncles, and aunts, whatever! He just wanted to find some part of his own family tree. Though, he knew that it’s impossible now, as he was a member of Astral pack, he was an Astral wolf. He should’ve forgotten his past… Just like Ryder tried to.

He opened his eyes again, still looking at these lone wolves, feeling kind of jealous of them being free and non-controlled… Then he looked around and thought again. Well, it wasn’t that bad after all, he was a Warrior, and that surely is more than being an Omega or just a Pack Member… That moment he wanted to thank the Alpha’s for letting him have a chance… To be one from the mightiest ever…

He then thought again. He knew there’s something more he wanted, apart freedom. He kept on thinking, and then realized…Realized that he wanted a mate. He wanted a pretty female next to him, female that would make his life at least a little bit happier than now… He was at the suitable age for having a mate, but the only problem were Alpha’s… He knew how well they were controlling over the population, and that he wouldn’t get to raise all the pups. He thought of setting out to look for a mate, but then decided to wait… Maybe destiny will bring one to him…

He shook his head, and stood up. He headed up to a closest river nearby to drink.

Jet chuckled softly, letting his paw pads feel the slowly melting snow beneath him. "Well, without sleep we would have no strength left. I thought it would be better if I rested for the night and was ready to go in the morning." He turned to see the rest of the territory, then back the alpha. "You know, you picked a very nice spot. This area is perfect. Almost no one can find us here."

He then realized he might stand corrected. The small hairs on the back of his neck and back rose slightly as he sniffed the air to take a breath. He could smell a wolf nearby. One that was getting closer and closer. As he tried to think how in the world someone could find them he soon realized how. "Dangit..." he muttered under his breath, turning away from the alpha. Me and my stupid anger get the best of me and now we might be in trouble... he thought to himself. He was hoping, no, praying that this wolf coming their way was a friendly one. He was praying that this one was a lone wolf, not a part of the Astral pack. If he was, there was no way he'd ever expect Asphodel to forgive him...
