You must be careful on what you post. Stuff like this is bound to sprout political talk. It only takes one to ruin everything...

oil is a non-renewable source and pretty much economical process. i agree with hiro very much. so much money is wasted.

As we are a reactionary species, we (as a whole) will take more of an interest in the well-being of our planet when our actions begin to threaten our existence. The ocean is crucial. Most oxygen in the world comes from the ocean, and many places in the world rely on the ocean currents for food and warmth.

In spite of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth that we humans do about the environment and the flora and fauna of this world, the ugly truth of it is that MOST of us really only pay lip service to it inasmuch as it is a threat to OUR continued existence as a species. Even on a base level which we may not be aware of. It is selfishness raised almost to an art form. The ocean IS crucial to our survival, as are the rapidly-dwindling old growth forests and jungles of the world, the atmosphere and the deep earth under the surface (including the molten layers). And we abuse and misuse all of them. But let's not delude ourselves...most people decry that abuse for reasons mentioned by GU. And because, on another base level, people enjoy conflict with others of differing mindsets, or insufficiently-motivated ones. That hardly helps matters.

I think it's sealed now, but damage is done, alot of the waters are contaminated along with around half of american crop soil, there was warnings not to buy crop related products from from certain states, parts of california and ohio were included, and something about the trees that got contaminated to about staying clear due to it being very deadly toxic emissions and the rain closest to the oil spill being toxic to, that oil spill really screwed things up, feelworst for the wildlife, stupid humans.
