That was indeed a while ago. I've picked so,ething up and i'm going tpo post it to images later. But even over the summer in June, I was (sorta) busy. I did random, five minute images so I could send something here. but right now, i'm two and a half hours into an image as of last night when I posted the last post . This has indeed inspired me to take more time and (try) to make my skill better... Besides, I'm actually self-taught for images... Besides some help from a friend of mine. But other than that, I taught myself how to do graphics. I have a looooong way to go though xD

I feel pretty much similar. I've gotten a bit tired of doing renders because they take a bit longer for me. After all, it's like digitizing a drawing having to trace over lines of something else, and that in itself can be time consuming depending on how you do it.

But even if you want to make a graphic, and think it spends too much time (though it doesn't) think about how AVATARS are also graphics. I'm trying to bump out renders out of my gallery because I want to make only images now (though since I don't totally hate renders, I'm not necessarily deleting them).

If you think graphics take too long, even though they don't, making avatars takes about 5 minutes maximum.

I have about 5 - 7 avatars there that all took me literally 5 minutes to make, but I made sure looked nice. It really isn't time consuming to make graphics, despite people's thoughts.


As for the blank renders and the cheating ratios, etc. I think that's stupid as well. Cheating the ratio benefits you in no real way, and in turn just makes those who hate renders just get mad because they try to filter them out and yet still see the blank renders and regular renders. It's getting annoying and will probably most likely push some people over the edge. I believe the ratio should be changed, too.

I mean seriously, people, if you don't have ANY interest WHAT so ever in participating in a (FAN) site, then just don't bother. Stay on the chats. I have over 100 LK graphics, not one render. (Had them, deleted them to help prove a point)

Cus thats right, I'm a fan. I mean, whats the big deal of renders? Big whoop, you traced. And some people say they help you draw, I beg to differ.
I've rendered for 4 years, my art looked awful. Stopped rendering for a year, started drawing, my art looks waaaaaay better than it did before. (And that reason, "Oh I can't draw" is just lame, if you actually tried, then maybe you could have drawn instead of tracing over a animator's hard work. Find a better excuse, cus we know you just don't want to put the effort.)

There's those freeweb websites you can make, photobucket, (dA don't want your theft, Oh gee, wonder why... ) and many other sites. Why does AS have to be filled with this junk? It used to be a place where fans actually did fan stuff, you know, Balto stuff, TLK stuff, all that stuff. (I can only guess people got tired of having their OCs ignored on dA or wherever and flocked here, well guess what : Alot of people still don't care about your other work.)

I work with images on TLKS, often I forget that its a Lion King Fansite, cus all I see is tracing and no atempt. To be honest, its really demeaning for a Lion king fan. I joined this site to find others that shared my love for good movies, not to see their OC junk.

Change the raito, 4:1 (Graphics to renders) or my favorite, 8:1, (Epic) 20:1 (Hahha that one is a bit much I guess, if only.)

This was a rant in a rant board, I really ranted.

Although I do renders myself, I would be more than happy to have the ratio 8:1.
I am also more than happy to admit that I'm lazy. I do renders when I feel lazy and I'm pretty ashamed to say that, but it is true.

I'm going to stop being lazy and actually send in some proper graphics instead. Because they are actually really fun to make :3

I remember a time before those awful renders.. When people actually did real fan graphics. Honestly, the biggest reason renders shouldn't be allowed here is because it is theft pure and simple. There's no way you can spin it that it won't be. Renders are traced over another person's hard work.

And what you said, Question, is exactly right. Renders don't help people learn to draw. The only way to get better at drawing is, oh golly gosh!, drawing. Not tracing a screen shot, coloring it in with whatever un-original character you have, and calling it art. ("BAWWW! It helps me see where stuff goesss. STOP PICKING ME ON. /wrist." No. Go look at references, not a bloody cartoon dog.)

And for people that QQ saying graphics are so hard to make.. No... You're just not trying or putting any effort into it. (Kinda like your renders! Really, tracing takes zero effort and zero talent.) People complain that they don't have PhotoShop and thus can't make renders. Well, there are free programs out there that you can make renders with. The only way to truely explain why people don't want to make real grahpics; they are lazy. Why should the grahpics section be littered with crappy renders just cause a few kids are to darn lazy to make real grahpics? It shouldn't.

Personally, I would love to see a ratio of 20:1 on all the sites! This place used to be Balto Source or The Lion King Source. Whatever happened to real fans doing GOOD fanworks?

Along with that, if you don't know about these free editors, then that is the person's fault. *I* myself took the time to ask around, for free editors, and search for some myself. (Heck, the site sketcher can edit images well enough)
