Dan raised his head and looked at the sleeping group.He smiled.They had survived the day, and perhaps the night to. Tomorrow would have to wait. He laid down his head on someones back and closed his eyes, ready to drift off.

Laika was the first to wake up, her pink tongue curling up inside her mouth as she yawned. Briefly, she was confused as she looked around the cave. Then the memoried returned. The biting cold, howling winds, and the growing urge to find shelter. Yet today was different. The snow glittered in the sunlight, and her body was warm, close to making her pant, actually. She stood up carefully, trying to to wake anyone as she stretched the stiffness from her overused muscles.
Cato awoke easily from his sleep, soon after Laika. But instead of embracing the new day, he muttered something incomprehensible, closing his eyes and shifting. He wanted to savor the darkness and quiet of sleep, and was irritated it had to have been interrupted. He closed his eyes tighter, twitching his ear before his muscles relaxed, and he embraced sleep again.
Grant did the same thing as Cato, really, but for different reasons. He had awaken numerous times during the night, all due to discomfort, or nightmares of being trapped in a blizzard, without a cave, or the dogs this time. His breathing eased again as he followed Cato's lead, exhaustion taking it's toll.
Kiera woke up as Cato stirred. She was laying close to him, and his mutters has woken her. Instead of moving, or falling asleep again, she lay still, enjoying the warmth soaking into her pelt, and the feeling of contentment, the complete opposite of her feelings last night. A small yawn escaped her, but she only curled into a tighter ball, savoring the moment longer.

Dan yawned and stratched his jaws wide open, he got up and walked a few steps to shake himself awake. He stretched his back and clicked his tongue.He was surprised at the temperature."Wasnt it freezing cold?" he muttered.
Connor was awake, but didnt aknowledge the morning sun. He didnt feel like getting up.Yesterdays events fresh in mind.
Sara opened her eyes and raised her head. All sleepiness had left her. She looked at their master and sighed. She licked his face to stir him awake.

"It's only warmer because of the sun. Plus, the blizzard ended while we were asleep," Laika explained.
Grant raised a hand to push the owner of the tongue away, but decided against it at the last minute. "Alright," he mumbled, his voice slurred from sleep. His muscles tensed as he stretched, but quickly relaxed. He propped himself up on one elbow, cracking open his eyes.

Dan shrugged."Then I love the sun right now" He looked at the still drowsy group."Think we should get them up?" He said to laika.
Sara smiled at her succsess and wagged her tail when grant opened his eyes.

Laika shook her head. "They're probably exhausted from last night. I'm still tired myself." Another yawn escaped her, as if to prove the point.
"Hey, Sara," Grant muttered, sitting up further.

Sara barked softly and moved a few inches to give him some room.
Connor raised his head and nudged Kiera with his nose."You awake? he whispered, as to not disturb the others.
