Rin cocked her head, listening intently. A faint howl cut through the air, only a whisper of a sound. But it was enough to make the always curious german sheperd go in the direction in came from. As she emerged from the small grove of trees she referred to as "the Forest", she happened to ru into a soft, furry wall of dark red and creamy fur.
Rin shook her head as she stood up, trying to clear it. She looked up, and saw a familiar female wolfdog. "Saba?" she asked, puzzled. She shook her head again, and the ringing in her ears finally faded. "Saba, did you hear that howl?" Rin asked.

Rin was hurrying...as far as she was concerned. She didn't bother to mention the fact, she only struggle dto increase her pace. She was soon close behind Saba, a few muzzle-lengths ahead of where she had previously been.

"Mother!" Saba called when the small team reached her mother's house. There was no anwser.
"Quiet Jenna!" UE snapped as he hit her hard across her nose.

Dingo followed close behind, making sure he didn't lag towards the back of the group. When the siblings and friends finally arrived to their mother's home he sniffed the air, almost immediatley sensing an unknown presence in the area. He turned to his brothers and sisters. "You guys go check it out. I'm gonna go get Dad!" He began running in the oppisite direction, hoping his father was still in the same area he had last seen him.
Jenna whimpered but otherwise kept quiet, not wanting to be smacked once more by the intruder.
Balto had been asleep, still in the same alley as the last time he saw his kids. He has been asleep during the howl as well, so was completely unaware of the current situation at hand. He was awoken suddenly at the sound of heavy panting and paw pads lightly hitting the snow in a rythmn.
Dingo sighed with relief and tried to catch his breath as he suddenly came up in front of his now awake father. "Dad! Dad! You gotta come quick!"
Balto tried to calm Dingo down. "Slow down son. What's the problem?" Although the situation was urgent, he had no clue what he was going to hear. Otherwise, he would've acted completely different. As he was about to now.
Dingo continued, "Dad! Mom's in trouble! It smelled like there was someone else in her house! We went over there because we heard an urgent howl!"
Balto's face automatically changed expressions. It went from a calm, serene outlook to a now frantic, almost angry (at the unknown enemy) face. He immediatley began rrunning to his wife's house.
Dingo followed, hoping that their father could help in anyway.
In almost no time at all, the two made it to Jenna's home. When Balto smelled the air and sensed the intruder, he growled with held back anger.

"We have to go in and help, or something!" Rin said, looking at Saba for an answer. Saba often seemed to be the leader to Rin, and it seemed a natural instinct to look to her for guidance.
