I aree with what zion has to say.most mods SHOULD take action and treat other members fairly instead of letting some go withouth warnings. I get warnings alot whenever I say piss or hell but others don't get yelled at?So totally unfair!

P.S. I am not blaming all mods, just simply pointng out. I know you have lives but please live up to your jobs^

We really need to lax the rules a bit. I mean, I doubt there is more then 3 members under the age of 10. And if there are, it's their own fault for viewing. This site is designed to be a site for everyone, not just 10 year olds.

The question is do we want to nanny those kids or leave it up to discretion

I'm pretty sure most kids at that age have heard a bit worse than just the religious swears and stuff these days.

I agree. That is completely unfair that you got punished for something minor and all the minor and major swearers aren't getting punished at all. Not even being sent a pm for pete's sake. I also agree with the fact that we shouldn't be making so many rules for a "kid's site".

This isn't just a "Kid's site". In fact, I doubt there are very many 10 years olds and under on here. Most of the users on here are teenagers. The other users are adults. I too am in my early teens. I have heard almost every swear word in the book. Just because this is a kid's site, doesn't mean we need to treat EVERY SINGLE user like a little kid. If a little kid views bad words, it's their own faults. And even when I was 10, I still knew pretty much almost every bad word. It's not rocket science. People tend to figure it out at young ages. By the time you become a teenager, chances are you know your fair share of bad vocabulary.

Some words are a bit too bad to be using on here and called "appropriate". Those are more for adults than just teenagers. But honestly. To be warned for saying, "bloody"? REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING? How in the UNIVERSE is that gonna affect even a 5 YEAR OLD? Even 3 YEAR OLDS KNOW WHAT BLOODY MEANS. What's the big deal if 10 YEAR OLDS see the word bloody on the internet?

I dunno. It mostly seems bogus to me. The swearing in general. The D, C, and S word are pretty minor in teenage vocabulary. I can understand the F, B, and other words like that, but c'mon. Let's not make this site for toddlers.

Again, I don't mean to hit a nerve with anyone. If I've offended anyone in any way, it was unintentional, I promise. But this is what I believe. It's my opinion. It's your choice whether or not to flame me for it.

I can understand why they are blocking the swears. Personally it isn't that big of a deal. Instead of saying Hoover Dam you say darn or instead of the S word it is shoot. I think it should be how would you talk to your teacher. You wouldn't go up to him/her and say "Oh c'mon this is I think they should be a bit more leniant on the swearing though. Truthfully swear words are only words, nothing more, nothing less. It is just the lable we gave them as "bad" words. Being called an idiot or loser is just as deminishing as being called a or something along those lines. I think certain words definatley should be blocked. Mostly the wones Hunter said above. I agree 110% of the way with that. We've heard em all, unless you have been shutoff from the outside world for your life. I'm positive you've heard and most likely have said it. I knew em all by the time I was 10 or 11.

I was excluded once for saying bloody...

Anyway, I think the "C" word should be banned, although most people know them, it's not a nice thing to say anyway. Because when you use it, you are normally calling that person one.

I think we're talking about different "c" words. I mean the "c" word that's extremely common. You can't really call a person it.. It wouldn't make sense. I mean the one that's....

Nice job at not being biased, Conay. You're basically saying anyone who hates even minor curses and is enforcing rules--that were made for a reason---are losers? Actually, I'd say that's the proper thing to do as some members here actually ARE ten and younger. Besides, the censor on this site doesn't even catch them anymore, so the responsible members would block them out naturally as they'd know the dangers of revealing such things to little children.

And "bloody may be common in the UK, as I've heard, but it's not in any other part of the world that I've heard of.

---------------------------------------------------

Now if you're saying, as Charlie mentioned, the Hoover Dam, why should that be included? Personally I find nothing wrong with that as long as it's taken maturely. Same as referring Hell as a PLACE. Mature members wouldn't see anything wrong with it. They'd take it as either a water structure or a place down under in some religions. And once and a while slipping a curse on this site shouldn't be blamed, as long as you censor it out. Leave the first and last letter(optional for the last) and they'll get the idea without doing too much harm.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Now doing this in front of a moderator or administrator, I just can't understand.

I completely agree with Conay on this one--'bloody' is very commonly used here in Scotland, even I use it, so it's not swearing in any way.
Though, cu** is VERY different indeed. The report button shall be pressed if I see anyone using it.

Even if it isn't a kid's site, (which I think it is) it should be viewed as one. And saying that member's are unable to swear isn't treating them as litte kids at all.

I noticed you put that if a kid views bad words, it's their fault. I think you're a bit wrong on that. They could just be viewing a previosuly innocent topic, and want to post on it. But due to some immature members, they happen to oops! see a bad word. See? Did the kid purposely say, 'Oh, I think I'm going to try and find some foul language to look at today.'? Don't recall them doing that at all.

And even if you know most bad words in the book, it's not an excuse to use them. I mean, I know my fair share, but I have never once said a bad word. The worst I have gone is crap! I mean, I even wince when I see the h-word, and I know worse ones than that.

Just because you know a swear word is not an excuse to use it. And if it is an excuse, someone please explain to me when that happened and the reason behind that particular madness. I'm sorry if some of you argue with me about this, but I hate hearing swear words. It's how I was raised, and in my opinion, how most people should've been raised. I have seen so many people swearing, and I'm sick of it. I've even asked them not to do it near me. Swear words are useless and mean, and mainly, only immature members use them on this site. Or members who have no regards for the rules whatsoever.

If I sounded a bit strong there, I'm sorry, it's merely my opinion. I'm not telling nayone to stop swearing for life or anything, but stopping on here would be nice. It would save the mods alot of trouble too.

-ends rant-

Again, the only solution here is asking ourselves, do we want to enforce rules like this for the sake of kiddies, or leave it to the parents.
Unfortunately quite a few parents these days don't really watch what their kid is doing on the computer, then complain when their little angel is looking at something "bad".

True, but as I'm sure people have said before swearing is swearing, and it doesn't matter if a kid is allowed or not, there's no way you can tell with everyone, it's called being respectful of other people, because some people get offended by swearing, including me. Even if censored, I can still tell what it is.

The official reason we have been given is because it is a kid's site. Hence why I focused on that...
