The idea is interesting, it had already been suggested some time ago.
But I still don't see how it would work PRACTICALLY. Would you : ask the new members if they need help (how? PMing every new member?), or the opposite?


I don't think it will work, they'll probably not notice that group, or be too "shy" for asking someone specifically, especially if they already have troubles with the site.

I don't know, maybe the best would be to include a link to a "help" board in the registration email or PM, where people could post their problems. (but that doesn't make much difference from the "Ask questions" section, don't you think?)

I support this idea, I was too a newbie and had no clue of what I was doing. Count on me!

Even tho this is kinda old, I support it too(and sorry for "bumping" the topic!).
On Alacrity(a sim, site) they have one of these threads, and it worked pretty well actually.
Basically, we could maybe make it a stickied thread, maybe in the introduce-yourself section? I dunno. But make it where its easy to see, and have a list of availiable mentors or people that need help?
