I have just sent in the article, it's waiting for the mods to approve it. It's very image heavy.

It contains pictures from...
- The Cleveland Museum of Natural History (Cleveland, OH)
- The Cleveland Zoo (Cleveland, OH. Not shown in the thread.)
- Central Park (Manhattan, NY. Not shown in the thread.)

I hope you guys like it once it's approved!

Hey - well, I guess I didn't get a chance to answer before you sent the article in.

The statue of Togo is in Chinatown, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. There are photos of it on my site (though I have to finish the article I was working on about it...from my trip there more than a year ago...lol)

We didn't see him or go looking for him since it was too hot and it was getting dark. If I ever go back, I'll be sure to look!

The only other place I can think of that has a significance to Balto in the lower 48 states is Los Angeles, and having lived in LA my entire life I don't think there is anything to see other than the Biltmore Hotel where he stayed (which is by my favorite spot in LA, Little Tokyo.) and even then there's not much to see.

Alaska is where it's all at and we don't have plans to go there any time soon.

I must admit that I have never been to L.A. Can't stand southern California, and the general air that it has (and I don't mean atmosphere...lol). But I would like to see the Biltmore. Though I wonder whether or not it's still in good condition, and whether or not there is even a record of which particular room they put Balto in, and which the Kaasens stayed in.

I can tell you from direct experience that it is a life-altering experience indeed. Not only Alaska in general, but seeing the relics of the serum run, and the places relevant to it. Togo's mount in Wasilla, and then Nome itself (though I would love, someday, to travel the biways of the serum run route, and visit all the relay points...that would be Herculean, but far and away a worthwhile exercise!) - the Nome region is simply amaaaaaaaazing (as you may know, I have pictures to prove it - and personal mementos).

Please stay on topic. No one likes it when people advertise their forums (while getting off topic) on other people's topic.
