To compare, Gargoyles #1 sold 7538 copies in 2006 :

Considering the downfall of the comics industry since 2006, and the slightly higher price, we can say that Darkwing Duck is doing even better than Gargoyles did!

The price of the International Subscription Plan is insane. $82 for 7 issues is way too much....

I know, I know. But they're importing it from the US, so until some of the european editors decide to print and release them (and for now it doesn't seem to be planned anytime soon) that's really the only way to get them.

I would really like them to release digitally to avoid this problem. That way everyone could buy them much easily (easier to find too!) and it would be much cheaper.

Yup. If they start releasing the Disney comic books digitally, I'd totally buy them. But at that price ($82  ), no thank you.

I actually contacted Darkwing Ducks' original creator, Tad Stones, and asked him about working with Boom! Studios on upcoming Darkwing Duck comics.

He said:

Quote:
I'm currently at the San Diego Comic Con and today I'm doing a signing at the Boom Studios booth at 3 and tomorrow I'm moderating their Kids Get a Drawing panel. I may be doing some covers for them, so I'm way ahead of you. The comics are great, check 'em out.

Mmm, I didn't know he was also an artist actually. ("doing some covers for them"?)
I already knew he was going to SD Comic Con.
Good news nonetheless :)

Darkwing #1 goes into second printing!

http://bit.ly/avm6OY

So if you missed it, here's your chance!

Quote:
BOOM Kids! is proud to announce that DARKWING DUCK #1 has sold out, sending everyone's favorite masked mallard into 2nd printing.

BOOM!'s latest smash hit has received tremendous fan support with sales of DARKWING DUCK #3 surpassing the sales of issue #1. DARKWING DUCK #2 is also on the verge of a sell-out and BOOM! is looking into a second printing of issue #2.

Strange though, they say that #3 is doing better than #1...but it's not released yet!!! Do they mean preorders?

Thanks for the link to the 'how to draw' by James Silvani. His work is brilliant! The style is spot-on and so clean as well.

Sales figures for Darkwing #2 in July : 5396 copies.

http://dcf.outducks.org/viewtopic.php?id=590

Compared to the 6300 copies for #1, this is a 14% drop. Of course we could have hoped for better, but as a general rule, #1 always outsells the others, and a 14% decline is actually good. I think this will satisfy Boom. (and it is, otherwise they wouldn't be planning a second arc so it will keep going for at least 8 issues)

Also, Uncle Scrooge got a little boost from the Ducktales theme, which is also a good news. (considering its steady drop from the previous month, Ducktales definitely had an effect)

In case you didn't / couldn't get it yet, Darkwing Duck #1 is available again in comic book stores! (Darkwing #2 will also get a second print soon)

http://www.boom-studios.net/darkwing-du ... print.html

Also, Boom! has corrected a bug with international shipping which would cause really big shipping fees : now you can choose "First-class mail international". For example, for shipping to France, it only costs $5.80 instead of $29.

And you can order several titles for the same shipping fees. No more excuse not to get all the Darkwing and maybe some other Disney/Boom comics books!
