Ridge grinned, but half-heartedly. He nodded to the pup and waited for the door to open. Trigg crouched low, ears flattening against his head. The door opened and a portly, uniformed man came in carrying things that resembled food bowls. Trigg launched himself into the man, not giving him a chance to know what hit him but the second man behind him shouted and pressed a button, making the upstairs lights flash.
A few more men came downstairs and two wrestled Trigg to the ground while another escorted a calm shepherd back to his cage. The last man to enter the room, the one that seemed in charge, ran to the door and paused when he noticed Ridge.

Sophie blinked harshly and distastfully at the bright lights. Her heart raced as she watched the men roughing it with the large dog. Sophie let out a small snarl, it even surprised her. She starred at the humans with a hate that would blow into a even larger feeling as she got older. The pup knew that she would not be taken seriously. Her snarl did nothing, and she was hardly large enough to do anything but bite puppy teeth into a leg. She watched, shoulders bunched. The little cross mutt wanted to protect her friends. Sophie's door had not been latched and so she pushed it open, but didn't move far from her cage. She was looking at Ridge, even his border collie friend. She had no idea what to do. Sophie could have been very well putting herself in line for big trouble.

The dark-haired man who had been glaring at Ridge noticed Sophie and smirked.
"Maybe we can give you a test run first, eh?"
Ridge snarled and barreled right into the dark haired man's legs, sending him sprawling to the floor just as Trigg was finally locked into his cage. One of the men scooped up Sophie and tossed her right in her cage.
In the confusion, Ridge was finally caught on the pole-leash, keeping the dark-haired man out of Ridge's reach. The humans caught their breath and the dark-haired man handed the pole over to one of the other uniformed humans and mumbled.
"You know where to put him... give him the blue vile"
Ridge followed the human willingly, this routine wasn't new to him.
"See ya in bit" Ridge yawned, brushing the incident off. All three of his friends nodded in unison and Ridge left the room.

Sophie yelped in surpirse as she was yanked into the air and then quickly shoved back into her cage. She snarled and tried to bite the hand, but the metal door was shut too quickly. Her teal eyes shone bright with distress.

"Guys! They took him becausse he was trying to help me!" She said, watching the door Ridge had left intently.

Sophie walked in circles, her thoughts racing, too many stories flashing through her head. What was this place? And what were they going to do to Ridge!

"Oh don't worry" Galileo answered calmly, a hint of humor in his voice. "This always happens. This must have been what, the second time this week?"
"I think third"
"Plus, the blue vile doesn't hurt... well not that much at least. If he doesn't eat that much of it, he'll just be woozy and sore, he's not dumb enough to eat the whole thing"
Trigg grumbled from his cage attempting to explain something as well, but completely failed.
"He'll be back before you know it" Galileo finished confidently. "It wasn't your fault at all"

Sophie listened, but it was hard for her to accept. She sat down heavily and looked at the two dogs level to her.

She sighed, "What is this place? What do they do here?"

The little pup wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to know, but she would find out eventually anyways. She could tell that the three males were close to Ridge. His friends, and Sophie, she hoped she would fit right in. She cocked her head to the side as she heard the door open.

The dark haired man from before came in, walking straight for Sophie. She backed up in her cage as he opened it. He pulled her into the air by her scruff, causing Sophie's body to go limp. She wined and cringed her face away as the man smirked and his bad breath met her soft little nose. She was carried away into a another room, she tried to squirm but it didn't do any good.

"Oh dear... that's not good"
"Ridge wont be happy about this"
Trigg grumbled something, concern showing on his face.

A few moments later, the uniformed human that had taken Ridge out, returned with a tottering Ridge. The tawny mutt stumbled into his cage and crashed to the cold wooden bottom.
"How you doin' Ridge?" Galileo called in a quiet voice.
"Sore... and tired... I think I ate too much of it. I just need to sleep it off..."
"Then this isn't going to make you too happy"
"What...?"
"They took Sophie away"

Sophie was taken into a very bright room. Her paws rested on a metal surface as the man dropped her onto a raised surface. Her teal eyes looked over and saw the floor, it was pretty far down though, for her at least. She frowned in dissmay and looked at the new people. Several humans dressed in white coats. Sophie's ear fell back as a young women walked forward. Sophie looked for some blue substance, as the other dogs had spoke of. But no such thing came to her sight.

The women took Sophie's right front leg, which was mostly white, and strapped something at the top, very tightly. Sophie tried to wiggle her leg out of it, but the man just held her down. The little pup quickly lost the feeling in her leg.The black dog looked back at the women, who was coming closer with a sharp thin looking stick. Before Sophie knew what was happening it was harshly stabbed into one of her main vains. Sophie let out a harshly loud yelp. the surprise and pain were terrible!

The women injected a green toned liquid into Sophie's blood stream. They removed the contraption from her leg that caught off her blood. The place where she had been injected was rubbed and then before she could try to lick at it a bandage of some type was placed over it. Sophie felt sick to her stomach and she whimpered like a new born pup.

The man carried the dissoriented pup back to the holdig room with the other dogs. Sophie heard the women and man speaking, but her hearing was muffled and she was blacking in and out. She was set in her cage and she heard the door clang shut. Shortly after she feel asleep.

Ridge stood, wobbling a little, but otherwise intensely concentrated on the door. He'd figured that when the dark-haired man tested one him, he'd be the only one. They usually did only one test on one of the dogs and then a few on the other animals sheltered there.
"It must of been really important" Galileo said, apparently thinking the same thing.
"I'm sure she's probably alright..."
Ridge sighed but sat straight up when the door opened and one of the humans carried Sophie in and placed her in her cage. She didn't seem to be moving.
"Galile-"
"She's still alive, I can see her breathing, but she doesn't look good"
"Any guess to what they gave her?"
Galileo stood up in his own cage and unlocked his cage door, carefully and quietly making his way over to her cage. He sniffed the air around her, but none of the strange scents seemed familiar.
"I've... I've never smelt this one before. But It shouldn't kill her. We'll just have to wait until morning"

Sophie's eyes greeted the early dawn. The sun had barly turned the sky pink. The four month old sat up. Looking around feverishly, Sophie didn't know where she was, or how she had got there. Her heart raced, she didn't know who she was. She sat, concentrating hard. She saw a few flashes of other pups, and a female border collie, but it made her head hurt and she whimpered softly. The beauty of a girl was tense, she looked out at the room. Her head quickly slamming the day before into her head. However, she could not think of anything else before that. She was even willing to face the head pain it cause, but nothing came. Not even the images as they had before. "Sophie.." She had remembered that, saying that was her name. The pup's eyes closed and she let a tear fall from her eye. Would she ever remember her life before this place? She doubted it.

Trigg, being the most sensitive to sound, lifted his head straight up, and watched Sophie with his usual crazed stare. Something seemed of about her... The Sarloos Wolfhound cocked his head, trying to understand why the pup was doing what she did. Trig grunted loudly and bumped the side of his cage closest to Ridge's and Ridge lifted his head lazily.
"What is it?"
Trigg growled and tried to slip a paw outside his cage to point to Sophie. Ridge sat up in his cage and squinted over at the black, brown and white pup.
"Galileo"
Galileo stood up quickly in his cage and bumped his head on the top, forgetting it was too short for him.
"Uh, wide awake Ridge"
"Go check on Sophie"
Galileo did as he was told and slipped out of his cage again, and padded over to the struggling pup.
"Sophie, are you alright?"

Sophie quickly swallowed and laughed softly, trying to push everything out. Make it seem as if nothing was wrong. She shook her head and looked at the white and black border collie.

"I'm okay, .. I'm okay." She couldn't remember his name.

She smiled up at the male and shut her teal eyes, pleaing herself to remember, but nothing came. His name was blank. She knew he was kind, and so were the other three. Everything before the horrible shot was a blur to Sophie though, she couldn't remember it. It had to have been side effects from the green toned liquid. the humans would never even know what it did to her, there was no way for them to know that Sophie's life before the shot was pretty much erased from her with some few exceptions.

Galileo tilted his head and frowned. That wasn't good.
"Sophie, do you remember who I am? Or who they are?" Galileo asked gently, pointing to the three dogs she had helped the day before.
Ridge stared out of his cage with a concerned stare. He should have let her escape. He should have forced her to go out through the window. Why did he even give her a choice?!

Sophie looked up at Galileo, nervously. She looekd at the others, taking a deeo breath. She tried to focus. She clentched her puppy teeth together.

"Of course I know." She said.

The black, brown and white dog huffed. Come on! You can do this! Show me images, give me names! She shook her head and opened her maw to speak. Her eyes fell to her white paws. Her brown ears falling back against her skull. She couldn't...she couldn't remember.

"The one up top, he helped the ones through the window. And the big one, he was watching. And he," She montioned towards Ridge, "he's the leader. He tried to protect me. Thats... thats all I can remember."

Galileo looked nervously from Ridge back to the pup but focused back on Sophie.
"Do you know what vile they gave you? Or what the last thing you remember is?"
Ridge bit his lip and cocked his head, hoping that whatever the pup had injected in her didn't hurt her too much... or mess up her memory too much.
