I think that's just the quality of the 'photo', for Charlie's colors as a pup look similar. ...otherwise he'd probably been born with rainbow fur O.o
But I rather liked the look of his parents. They appear like pampered house-pets, and makes you wonder where Charlie strayed.

Well, it's obvious that his parents are mix breeds, but going back to the retriver thing, I would say lab, mainly because his fur is a medium/short length. Yet, I don't understand why his fur isn't long like his parents.
