Shay nodded. "Let's try-" he sentence was broken off as a gun shot hit her, grazing her arm. She let out a small cry of surprise and pain, but kept running, although she stumbled.

Maya heard a gunshot that battered her pricked ears, and she pulled them tight against her head. She was overcome by curiousity now though, and ran after where the scent originated from. SHe almost ran into Zac, who was also following them.

Ryan heard the gunshot, followed by Skye's cry. He looked up quickly and and turned back after Skye. Once he caught up to her, he made her stop. "Are you ok?" he asked with concern.

Zac growled in an annoyed way. "Hey! Come back here! I'm not through with you yet!" he called after Ryan as he followed where he left to.

Ryan nodded, but soon heard the sounds of the hunters drawing near.

Zac growled as he realized these 'humans' weren't listening to him. He soon, not hearing the hunters coming closer and closer, circled Ryan and Skye. He made it almost impossible to escape from the confined circle he created. He made a growling noise. It sounded menacing, but playful at the same time.

Maya walked beside Zac, giving a light growl. "Do you really think the whole circling thing is necessary?" she asked him, the words murmured softly into his ear.

"Oh, cr*p," Shay said, hearing the menacing growls and the aggressive behavior. And the sound of the hunters drawing closer.

Zac shrugged as he kept walking around the 'humans'. He replied, "I just don't want them to get away again. I need to know what they are." He then stopped dead in his tracks as his ears finally seemed to be picking up the pitter patter of actual human feet. "We gotta run. We gotta run!" he said to Maya. He began to break into a straight sprint, running as fast as he could.

Ryan gasped as the hunters drew closer. But suddenly the wolf that had been circling them began to run. "Finally!" he said, then turned to Skye. "This is our chance!" he said to her. He began running in the same direction of the wolf, passing it easily.

Zac growled lightly. Surely these weren't normal humans. He had to find out what they were. He then grinned in curiosity and was able to catch up to Ryan.

Maya was running alongside Zac.

Shay took off running, feeling her small wound throb with the thought of being shot again.

Zac kept hearing the steps of the humans grow louder and louder. "Dang hunters!" he said. He made swift turns through the trees, causing the hunters' footsteps to grow fainter.

Ryan, seeing the canine's movements, followed it. Wolves were hunted often, so it must've known how to lose track of hunters. "Follow the wolves! They'll probably lead us away from these guys!" he told Skye.

As soon as the footsteps began to grow softer and softer, Ryan stopped. They probably went in a different direction by now and lost them. He breathed heavily while staring at the completley black wolf. [/color]

Zac stopped running too, content with himself for having lost the hunters. "What are you?" he asked, not sure if the creature would understand him.

Skye barely managed to keep up as they ran, her fingers pressed against the deep graze. It throbbed along with her pulse.

Maya was slightly concerned about the female. She was faltering, and she could tell that she had been hurt. After what seemed like a whle, they stopped, the hunter's loud steps no long audible. She stood beside Zac.

Skye panted lightly, and leaned against a tree.

Ryan walked towards Skye. "You okay?" he asked.

Zac's curiousity finally got the better of him. He jumped on Ryan and sniffed him. Soon enough, he found two small bite wounds. He sniffed and pawed at them.

Skye nodded. "I'm fine. She noticed the large wolf pawing at his neck, and scowled at him. "Hey, get off," she said.

Maya padded towards Ryan, and cocked her head. "What is it?" she asked.

Ryan did the same, saying, "Uh... can you stop?"

Zac backed off, growling a bit. He didn't like being told what to do. He turned to Maya. "Something's not right about them... They're not normal humans... They've been.. modified.

"I thought that they were..." Maya muttered under her breath, inaudible to Zac. "How are they modified though?"
