The character might remain deactivated, but for all intents and purposes, I think Ginga has won this argument. Kudos on defending yourself against these odds Ginga. Thankees, Ghost-unit. At least SOMEBODY agrees with me.

Excuses, excuses. This needs a lock, you've already acted pretty inappropriately on the shoutbox about this. No need to be rude. Simple. The light is above and behind him to the left. The foot is sticking out, and the light is hitting just that.

The way to fix this is really quite simple, take the advice that the mods have given you already. Who asked you? Who's side are you ON, anyway?! I thought you were my friend. Considering you made a public topic, you asked everyone with an opinion. Topic reported to be locked.

Sorry man...as I see it, it's a "sparkle dog" I have once more proved that mods only hear what they want to hear. I even posted an explanation for why the outline is different, and you completely ignored it. The outline goes all the way around versus the only partway around because of the lack of snow. On the bear, the snow reflects light up and hides the outline, but on mine, there is no snow to reflect the sunlight, and thus the outline is seen. No, I did get your explanation, the only thing that you're not seeing, is that the outline on your character consists of neon colors, every line, every feature, every pixel of said outline...even inner accents on your character. My house looks this way once I put the Christmas lights up, which are an unnatural part of the structure. With the bear, you'll note that the sun is above, and the character (it's in first person at that second in the movie) is looking up towards it. The bear's sun facing accents, and outline on the side of of the sun are the only ones which are reflecting the color, unlike your image, which lacks shadowing, and just has the neon accent and outlines done....for the details even (Look at the face) while the bear only has the full details on one side. Go take an art class or two, and a photography composition class before you begin to write checks you can't cash, or argue something you don't seem to have much of an understanding about. EDIT: Just go go along with your argument...here's an image I captured a couple years ago, which has similar weather/light characteristics. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b87/1 ... d3ec27.jpg I haven't seen any details with neon lines around them, with the exception of the tops of the trees near the sun. Let us add to the argument an example of why trees are different than hair. A tree, though in some cases are similar to hair when viewed at a distance, are not like hair. A pine's needles are thick, and do not let light pass. Hair, particularly fur, is more crystalline. It lets light pass through it, which gives it its color when viewed at the correct angle. That's why cartoonists draw a lighter area on an animal's coat: it's a reflection. While normally your argument would be correct, your argument contradicted itself. In the image you sent, you claimed that the trees didn't have a neon outline except near the sun. In most of the picture, this is correct. However, on the right of the picture, there is a glare. It's a rock, but there is a reflection. A red reflection for a yellow sun, I might add. It's a safe bet that the rock is not red. Therefore, we can see the effects of distance on reflections. If you look, the colors reflected off the rock change color as they are seen along the length of reflection. Just a statement to get out in the open.

The foot is sticking out, and the light is hitting just that. This is a rough example of how the lighting should work. I have used red and blue because like the bear's highlighting, red is a bright, light color and blue is a cooler color. You have used yellow and orange, two light colors. You imply the wolf is picking up all light on it's body by doing so, which is impossible. Where there is light there is dark. See your local shading tutorial for an example. Regarding the foot - the back should pick up the majority of the light from your light source. The belly is lower and does not get any, so it is shaded darker. The foot protrudes from UNDER the belly so it should be shaded too. Ranting wildly about it on a public forum will not make a difference.

Hair does reflect light, but it's not as light conductive as a fiber optic cable, which is why him having his paw, the fur on his lower shoulder, and legs outlined in neon, when the light source is behind him makes no sense.

The foot is sticking out, and the light is hitting just that. No, this is impossible. If the light is behind him, his back rises above his belly, and catches the most of the light. His belly would be shaded. His foot, since it is UNDER his belly, should ALSO be shaded darker. As well as this, you have outlined the WHOLE image. The body wouldn't pick up highlights EVERYWHERE like you've tried to do... I'm not a shading expert, but this is a rough version of how the lighting ROUGHLY should be. Red is light, blue is dark. You can't use the bear as an example either - the bear uses light highlights and shading highlights, orange and blue. You have used yellow and orange, BOTH light highlights. Look at a shading tutorial and you will see. The mods have decided, ranting wildly and complaining about it in a forum topic will do nothing. You should have PMed the mod asking for an explanation. EDIT- Also, if you are going to use reflections as an argument, you should show your light source so we do Oh, I see you've used unnatural colors that would not normally appear. That was someone else's argument. And true, at the angle you have place the light source, the foot would be shaded. However, the light source with the shading as I have done it would be out of the picture, higher up. It would be roughly 3/4 of the way to the high noon position directly overhead, leaving the foot but not the belly exposed to the sunlight. And, I can rant here if I want. It's the ranting section. The orange I used was a darker orange, showing less light hitting, and thus making the even darker red the deepest shadow. It is a logical type of shading used in old animations. I know; I have over 150 older cartoons from just after the invention of color cartoons.

The colors I used are not actually neon; I thought I might point that out. While fur is not super conductive, it does pick up the slightest reflection and reflect it once more. Any reflection is anything you can see. With a dark backdrop, you would see more of the reflections of the forest, distorted by the curvature of the character's flesh. Also, hair does not absorb all light. The darker orange is just a lighter shadow, rather than an absolute shadow. Red is darker yet. I've been taking art classes all my life; I know how colors work.

If the light is above him...it won't be shaded like that. Here's a good picture for you to stew over. It's a black canine, with the sun at a similar able to yours...I don't see his back paw outlined in light. I only see the side of him which is being contacted by the sun to be illuminated. Argument on pine needles aside. Compare the photograph of a black wolf in the sun to yours...enjoy.

This entire drama could have easily been avoided if the topic creator had simply sent a PM to the art mod who deactivated the character, asking to be enlightened as to why it was classified as a sparkledog.
Topics like this have come up in the past and they all lead to locking. Such is what's going to happen to this topic, since the topic clearly is not progressing in a positive manner.
Topic locked.
