Ooc: The rest of you guys that posted (those of you who are still with us an interested that is) can jump in too, when you're ready. Sorry for the wait, it touch and go sometimes, but eventually we get it all worked out. This will now be Blitz's color (gray). This will be Gabe's (maroon).
A dog with gray fur, topped with an even darker shade and reddish-brown spots mottled onto his back stared longingly into the distance southward, the general direction of the lower 48 states. His fur was shaggy and thick, but not much longer than the average for a husky mix, and certainly no shorter despite the Plott hound blood running somewhere in his heritage. The ear that looked as if it had been dipped into that same reddish-brown as his spots, his socks, and the small patch over his left eye flopped a little. It did that sometimes, when it was feeling particularly feisty about standing straight up like it should, another indicator of his mixed origins. He blinked, green eyes shining brightly in the midday sun as it reflected off the permafrost on the ground and he sighed deeply.
"You didn't even say goodbye. But, I guess you couldn't." His voice was soft, surprisingly so. It wasn't feminine, but it was gentle and filled with a sense of deep sadness. His eyes even conveyed that message, in the way he just looked so longingly toward where he knew she was. She was probably running, even now. Heck, she was good at it, and hopefully she and the rest of the team would win. But how he missed her. How he'd missed her every minute she hadn't been with them. It hadn't been until recently that he'd let it get him down, though.
"What do you see in him? What does he have that I don't?" A light huff left him. He'd never seen the one she'd given her affections to, but Dis had told him he was a wolfdog, like Blitz. There were surprisingly more and more of those in Nome, as it became more socially acceptable and mushers wanted an edge for their teams - powerful animals with speed, strength, and endurance, but without being fully wolf and having to contend too much with instincts. She hadn't told him that it had been one of the great Balto's children, though. That would have simply crushed him, since Blitz had always idolized the famous hybrid. He turned his gaze away from her and said under his breath, "I'll find some way to win you back. Even if I didn't really have you." The sadness lingered in his eyes, but it was accompanied by determination now.
As he turned fully to go down the street, his gaze caught the very dog he was destined to compete with. The mutt smiled, covering his thoughts from before and wagged his tail half-halfheartedly at the other figure. "Hey, dude. You look about how I feel right now. Lost your someone special too?"

(Oooh, shouldn't be surprised with you coming back after a long absence with this xD . The plot thickens)
Slyth stood there for several minutes in a bit of a haze. He was just struggling with getting around his head how he was gunna survive these next few weeks. Completely isolated from the two he desired to be with most. One was going to get gone for weeks. The other....possibly wouldn't come back. If there was no cure for her in Anchorage....well...he didn't wanna think about it.
Unknowingly though, he was starring off in the same direction as the other figure he had failed to noticed before. Apparently his demeanor reflected perfectly with the way he felt, because without even exchaning words, he guessed correctly what he was struggling on the inside. Once he caught the brute's words and turned his attention to this other dog, he looked him over once and automatically responded to words he only partially caught. "Im sorry?"
He was really out of it. He had no way of finding out if either one of them was okay or not. He just had to sit on pins and needles for the next month before he found out. Now that he knew what he wanted to do with these two fae's it just seemed like an act from a higher beeing that they were both abruptly taken away from him at once. Dis was still in here so maybe he could find her somewhere and talk to her. But he snapped back to reality and shook his head. Remembering suddenly there there was someone trying to talk to him.
"Oh....yea...right. Yea, she was just taken away..." He kept his eyes on the brute. But he wasn't acctually seeing the brute. His mind just continued to wonder despite his attempts to focus on the dog addressing him."

Rue's brown paws made a slight crunch that filled the still air as she padded through the frost that covered the grass with a glistening coat. Her black and brown pelt felt warm, a reult from the sun shining directly on it for most of the morning.
Her nose twitched, and she raised her muzzle to scent for a scent of food. A liquid rumble filled the air as she did so, making her feel slightly embarrassed. Her ribs showed clearly through her dark pelt, as she hadn't had anything to eat in a day or two. She often went like this, unable to find food for a while, then flushing out some remains of some long forgotten meal.
Her ears pricked, brown eyes brightening as the scent of food hit her nose. She eagerly padded towards the place where it had originated, feeling slightly light-headed at the possibility at being able to eat. She tried to quiet her stomach as it let out another complaint, not that it worked however.
The crunch of frost underfoot did drown it out somewhat though. She soon neared the location, a small opening between two houses, garbage inbetween. She sniffed the area, flinching slightly as her black, shiny nose touched the frost. She lifted her head and began to shift through the waste, using her paws and muzzle to scent and look.
She soon found an old meal of bread and something that smelled of meat, but tasted strange. She took it in her black and brown muzzle, backing out of the alley and into another one, the one where she was currently staying. She curled up in the corner, her dark pelt blending into the shadows as she sank her teeth into the meal, her mouth watering.

Reno's orange fur was full of water and mud after he came out of the swamp where he caught his meal; a little frog. It was like a meal for a king compared to the food he had caught over the last week. His ribs were sticking out so much, if you had a mallet, you can play them like a xylophone.
As he gobbled down his prize, the wolf trudged down the path leading to the city he had never gotten so close to in his life. He squinted as lights from the buildings became clearer... and also two canine's shadows. 'Who are they?' Reno wondered. Only one thought jumped into his mind; huskies. 'Those stuck-up purebreds.' he thought. 'If they ever found out I was a wolf, they'd have their posse tear me apart!' The golden wolf picked up his dirty paws as he sped up his pace, seeing that one of the dogs' coat was a dull red colour, almost close to Reno's aurum coat. The other dog was mostly grey, but with patches of red here and there. 'Interesting group.' thought Reno.
He approached quietly, his head down and whiskers flicking at the strong scent of domestic dog. His paws touched the ground almost as softly as a butterfly lands on a spring daisy. Reno's tail swished nervously from side to side as he got closer to the figures, whom seemed to be watching something in the distance. He cleared his throat harshly before he rasped, "H-Hello? What are you both looking at?"

Pads delicately touched the snow as she rounded the bend to were her home was. bright honey profound eyes catch slow glimpse of the falling day break "another day finished" she said to out-loud, for anyone willing to hear would do so. her breath fell like damp mist from her soft colored lips. Her fur rested easily on her worked frame, bending, seeming to bow to the hug of the black nylon harness strapped to her slender frame. She felt the cold metallic loop ring that tied her to the pack mates was light.
Breathing in for a moment before a back member jolted forward, pushing her frame ahead. She growled softly as the younger black dog jumped excitedly before her, dragging her lines a bit. She rolled her eyes slightly sinking her claws against the cold snow, grasping onto it softly as she watched the musher come round to the lead dog and began loosening the rings as he let his dogs run free after their day's work. Unlike the bouncing pup before her, Abelia waited calmly before sitting down on the snow back. Her tail lathered the snow before curling along her legs as she waited.
Hearing his heavy boots platter the snow besides her she smiled eagerly, standing up as she felt his firm fingers run along her spine then her thighs and underbelly before releasing her of the harness, leaving her in the black collar and half the harness. Her fur pricked as she stretched out her fore paws, letting her claws make groves into the damp snow as she pulled back upright and shook her fur. Looking round to the now scattering dogs she slowly trotted along the frost bank, on the outskirts of the town. She could see two males up a head...

Rue's hungry stomach growled for her to eat quickly, but she ignored it, chosing to swallow slowly and savor it. Although she tried, it was soon gone, and she was gnawing on the bones, leaving ruts and marks in them.
Her black and brown ears pricked as she heard distant voices. Feeling a sense of curiousity make her paws tingle, she left the bones, burying them only partly in her hurry to find the source. She padded softly out of the alley, a cold wind ruffling her dark pelt and sending a shiver down her spine as she stepped out of the sheltering walls.
Her paws made small prints on the ground, her small, dark frame pressing and blending into the slight shadows as she strained to hear the voices again. A faint sound reached her ears, sounding like the vioces before. Quickening her slow pace, she hurriedly slunk towards the source. The scent of four dogs, one smelling like a female, reached her nose, carried by the frigid wind. She padded closer, sticking close to any shadows she could see with her brown eyes.
Rue's chocolate eyes soon spotted them, two of the males seemingly watching something, the other male semeing awkward in their presence. The female was approaching them silently, and no voices reached her pricked, alert ears anymore.
Curious and always wanting to trust others, she left the cover of the patch of shade she had ben lurking in and boldy padded up to the three dogs, the female still not there yet. 'Er, hello," she said, sounding awkward to even her own ears.

Gabe canted his head to one side, waiting for an answer for what seemed like an eternity. He had just opened his maw to say something else when the other male finally responded in a dazed manner. Wow, he really was shaken. Poor guy. The mutt nodded sympathetically and glanced back in the direction the two hybrid females had both relatively gone. "It'll suck without them, but we'll get through it. They'll be back before we know it."
Poor Gabe! He had no idea that Slyth wasn't talking about just one girl. Or that the other girl he missed was the very same one he'd just moments ago pledged to win back.
But the sound of footsteps and a new voice caught his ears and they perked up, as much as ears that flopped at the tips could. When the stranger got closer, he'd be able to tell that Gabe was certainly not a purebred - in fact probably one of the furthest things from it in this town.
"Our girls just left us and we're trying to will them to come back by staring in the direction they went. It's not working so well thus far." Even in a gloomy mood he still couldn't resist a joke.
More pawsteps, scents and voices made their way towards their little grouping and he raised a brow. Well, this spot certainly was popular tonight, wasn't it? He nodded in response to the female's greeting, then looked to the other that had not quite made it as close just yet. Then he squinted and scrutinized around at the surroundings closest to them; the backside of a building, a random tree, and a dog house in the distance.
"Okay, if I'm about to get punked, I swear I can find a better target for the joke. Just give me two minutes."

Slyth was so withdrawn in his own musings that he barely took notice of the two females and the male that showed up. He couldn't get his mind off of how lonely he was going to be for the next month.... how lonely he felt right now. Maybe in a few days time he would get a bit better and be able to cope without having them around but right now, he was in shock. Blitz taking off for the race in the lower 48 was hard enough to deal with but then having Saba taken from him only a few days later? It was the worst punishment he could think of. What he couldn't fathom though was what exactly had he done to deserve the punishment? It was impossible to figure it out on his own so he did he best to try and supress his state of depression and shock. It wasn't working out too great though. His hazel eyes which used to look as if they lit up on their own had now gone dull.
The company surrounding him now was not helping him in the slightest. Contrary to how lonely he felt and was in agony from, he just wanted to be alone right now. Nothing interested him at the moment except going home and sleeping. Maybe later he could seek out Dis and maybe find some solace in her company. She was the closest thing he had left to someone he could confide in. He and her may not be the best of friends or the closest, but they both knew Blitz and his first time meeting her had been, if anything. Interesting. Hopefully she could find some way to get his mind off Saba and Blitz...
Although he had no way of knowing this, Dis was actually waiting for him now at his home. She was seated out of sight so as to not be spotted by the dogs of an opposing gang. This was one of the many hardships of gang life. She wasn't sure what kept her living this life but she was drawn to the excitment and danger of it.. The black and gray pelted husky sat still, her golden eyes peering around for the Slyth. With Blitz leaving a few days back, she had felt concerned about him. But at the time, her concern was only mild. But now that Saba had just left... she knew that he probably needed someone there for him now. The only family he had left in this town was this dad, Balto, and his mother. Saba and Blitz were all he had. With them both leaving at pratically the same time, she felt that she had an obligation to be here for him. Although Blitz had never said it, she felt the need to make sure Slyth was still in one piece when she got back. So, here she was, waiting patiently. Knowing he was going to be here any minuter.
