There was no need for either thing, and that was what was meant by not adding anything to the discussion. If you're going to participate in a public forum, and post openly, you'd better expect that not everyone's going to respond the way you expect or hope. And if you cannot participate in a discussion without taking offense when someone posts a contrary opinion or disagrees with you, you should not post.
I should think that, if you were interested in posting in this community, the rant board would certainly not be the ideal place to start. How about the "Introduction" board? Or one of the boards for the movies for which Animation Source exists?
And yes, there is a place for suggestions. The...suggestions board. I already even linked a topic which essentially covers this same issue with encouragement of suggestions.
I am not going to keep bandying this back and forth with you. Take more time, if necessary, and observe how people interact on this forum, and learn what is and what is not considered acceptable and civil. Then start posting. well, considering that the subject is titled "drawing of the week" and your last post was basically critiquing my post, i'm pretty sure that your post will be viewed as off topic. being a new member, i do feel the need to explain myself. first of all, i had one sentence stating the definition of the word "best". i did not mean to come off as patronizing, and i'm sorry if the members took offense to it. the rest of my "paragraph" was stating what i thought was, my opinion. i didn't realize that it seemed like i was saying things that were very apparent in steet's quoted comment. i was talking about although some people may work very hard and think their art is the best, some people may not ever think that, and that is the way life is. i then talked about how the word "best" is subjective. in my opinion, i don't think that is what steet was saying in his quote. secondly, i even stated that i realized that what you said was "your opinion" and that i respect everyone's opinion. but i think the way you stated it was mean-spirited. i understand that not everyone will agree with me, and not everyone will react how i hope they would. i was just telling you how you came off, in case you didn't realize. but judging from your response, you stand by what you said. nothing i can do about that. thank you for the suggestion on telling me where i should post first. i was scouring the site for some sort of direction on what i should do for my first post. here i thought it was up to ME to decide where i post first, but i can see that you do not believe that it is an ideal place to start. also, thank you for your suggestion of telling me to take some time to observe how people interact on the site. it was nice to see acceptable and civil posting. i did actually go to the search button and typed in your name to see what would come up. i was happy to see that a majority of the time you speak like this to everyone, not just me. i guess that is just your personality. well, i'm happy to see that you said that you don't want to keep bandying back and forth with me. from searching through your posts, you usually like to get the last word in. i'm glad we could end this now. i will now go off to look through other topics. i will not post in this thread again, because i dont want it to get any more off topic than you have made it.

Sigh, sigh, sigh! Well, in order to stay on the topic, I thought I would link a relevant topic. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29207It proposes whether members should be able to choose and vote upon best drawings. This is also a discussable option, I find it relevant to your interests.

While there are points here to concur about, I also find myself in need of posting my disdain for some posts. I have chosen the selections perhaps twice (to my memory of modding for more than 3 years). This is what I look at, regardless of medium(s) used: - How well is the drawing composed? Obviously I'm not going to feature a stick-like doodle of a wolf. The point of the selections is to recognize, perhaps not the "best," but the well-made creations. If you reference a screen capture and color it with crayons, well, I don't see any point why it should be featured for a week. This is why I made the fan features (which due to unforeseen circumstances I have temporarily had to discontinue) in my News -- to balance out the features and the "lesser artists" who I think should get a little attention. Yet, when I do this, those artists go ignored still. People want to look at "good" things. It's why "good" artists are so popular. Why "beautiful/sexy" actors are so popular. So if we feature subjective art -- say, a doodle of a wolf that's supposed to be Balto (looks little to nothing like him) with no background -- the members would still have a ruckus because THEY feel THEY are better than that artist and THEY deserve the attention. Or, it's a touch of envy. "Why is this artist getting all of this attention and I'm not? I'm a good artist, too!" But I'd hate to tamper anyone's parade plans, but it's up to the viewer as to what they think of your work. More experienced artists will favor experienced artists. Lesser artists will, too. It's just like when you favorite someone on DeviantART (such as Akreon and Khaosdog, for example) because they have some skill you, as a fellow artist, wish to possess. Whether it be detail, anatomy, etc. It's something you want to work towards to strive as an artist. You give yourself a bar ("I want to be as good as ....") to work towards. But an automatic "chooser" would be a double-edged sword. What would the stipulations be? I, as an artist, don't want to see a drawing that looks like this featured when there are better art pieces on the site. I want something that shows that the artist has put effort and dignity into their work, not just any random doodle. Someone who's done their best to make a pleasurable piece of art. Not someone who sat down in Microsoft Paint and made a "wolf" doodle.

As an artist myself, I don't want to see a feature that had 0-75% effort put into it. I want it to be well composed and admirable, meaningful, etc. Not just a quick doodle of Balto slapped together. I want the artist to take pride in their work and make it look good. I've featured galleries I'd never favorite myself. Do you want to call that unfair, too, because you haven't gotten a feature?

I may not be the best OR unique artists but I would liek to be notced of my hard work on drawing.

Take what you do have -- not what you don't.
Be thankful for your faithful watchers. The ones who actually like you and your art because they see you. Not the ones who like "you" because they want to take advantage of your "good art."

With these statements in light, I will have to say that this topic is abortive. You're not standing up for the "little, unknown artists." You're only having a tantrum because you feel unappreciated because you haven't gotten a feature. Now, had you continued in your martyr excursion on getting "less popular artists featured," as opposed to yelling: " Look at me! I deserve a feature!," this reaction from myself would have been subdued. Please be aware that having a fit because you haven't been featured won't get you featured! As a matter of fact, I (along with other nameless moderators) won't feature someone after they have a sort of "hissy fit" because they haven't been "recognized by the masses." Art is a skill that takes time and effort, not whining and moaning until you become popular. If I burst your bubble, well, welcome to diversity.
