Intro/Rules

[list]Well, i hope this part won't come out longer than the rest of the post. Being completely new around, I just hope not to break any rule I failed to notice... And, most importantly, I hope that some things I'm going to do in a really untypical way won't get me in trouble...

Anyway, I'm beating about the bush. To get to the point - I've got some experience in narrating Polish PBFs (Play By Forum [RPG], for those unfamiliar with the - possibly not official - abbreviation). As it seems, the English ones are conducted in a completely different way. I believe that with a bit of tolerance and common sense a hybrid I'm going to create here will turn out to be officially acceptable.

To be more precise - the base of every RP around is one character, played by a GM (gamemaster, again an abbreviation that may not be known around...), leading a group of other players' characters. In the RPs I've participated/created, the rule stood oppositely - the GM controlled a multitude of characters, most of them appearing for a scene or two, others sticking with the team throughout the whole adventure. That's a rule I can't even imagine to lead a RP without, so would it stand highly against the will of site's administration - please, inform me about it so the case can end in a peaceful way. The last thing I want to achieve here is getting into fight with moderators about such a detail ;)

OK, now that we've that set, I can say one more word about the idea of leading a RP on your forums. Originally, I was going to write a short story concerning the topic of this RP - and I probably will nonetheless, would this RP be accepted to stand or not. Having seen this forums, I just had to give it a try though. So here I am, humbly asking to wink at the different form of RP I'm offering.

And, oh, I know it'd probably be better to join a RP first to get a better grip on how to handle an English one, but...Nothing caught my attention. Apologies to all the RPs' creators, but I AM kind of selective when it comes to participating in such adventures... Even though I'm gladly reading whatever comes to my hand, as long as it's related with anything I like ;)

Hmm. Sounds like you're describing a popular method of role-playing via tabletop board games, very similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Very interesting indeed! I've been meaning to try and implement a role-play with this type of set up for a while, but I really haven't had the time or means to do it. But yes, in answer to your question, it is indeed allowed, and welcomed as a fresh change here.

Also, you don't need to apologize for not joining one to see how the majority of people do them here. Everyone's free to experiment with different types of role-play (so long as they do follow the rules of course!) The type of role-playing that goes on here is what is commonly known as "free form role-play". In essence, all that means is that, with the permission of the creator and so long as it follows the general plot line, you are totally free to do what you want with your character, and many people typically choose to only control one character, simply because it's easier for them. But of course, you don't need to follow the free form method, if you don't wish to.

If you have any other role-play related questions, feel free to direct them to me. I'm the moderator for all of these sections :)

Happy role-playing!
-Aniu Caelestis

Many thanks for the reply, Aniu, it's a big relief, being officially allowed to do things a bit different :)

The Dungeons & Dragons comparison is quite wide, since I'm not going to use any of those wretched dice and character sheets (I've never grownto like them in D&D games), but I understand what you meant, having got to know the ways of roleplaying around here a tad better since the publication of this topic. The other roleplays are mostly based on a given situation, from which players go in any direction they like with little to no supervision form host, while I'm making a more narrated one, with events going to a set point and ending at some points (however rare it is for roleplays to end, even those with a backstory, like this one). I'm glad the change is accepted, I just can't find myself in the other type of play.

Black Rose - it's great to hear about somebody with similar interests (aside from Balto, of course :D). I've also learned a bit about the pre-medieval cultures, but since it's a really hard thing to do in Poland, I'm stuck at some basic informations from the Internet. My greatest finding I'm going to use to it's full possibilities is a course of Old Norse, as well as the text of Norse Mythology. All I can say at the time being is "Ek eta ok drekkr" (I eat and drink), but I love this language :D

And I agree Fiata sounds great for a name - even despite associations with a certain make of cars and Latin "fiat" - "let it be so" ;)

I definitely hope so, in spite of the roleplay being abandoned by everyone but you and me. Captain Talon has claimed that they need more time... three weeks ago. I've also messaged Balto678 more than two weeks ago. None of them has written anything ever since...

Should no one else be interested -- and of course, should you be interested in such form of play -- we could try and play this as a one-player roleplay. I've had some experience in such type, so it shouldn't be a problem.

It's OK, education is far more important than RPs (though usually not so fun ). Good luck with your applications and tests!

I will join. This type of RP sounds really inetersting., good job TigressPL.

Kaeko:

Kaeko is a shiba inu, which is a dog native to the japans, henceforth her name, which means 'maple leaf'. She stands around 14 inches tall and weighs 17.4 lbs. She has a small and compact build, and a full cream colored coat. She has a tail carried in a ring over her back, and dark brown eyes.

Kaeko has a sweet personality, and hates hotheads and snobs. She prefers down to earth dogs, like herself. She will not brag about anything, and never sees the bad in people, she only sees good, or tries too. She is very easy-going and loyal, she would do anything for her friends, and stick by them through anything. THe only time she will become mean and hard is when she sees someone being threatened or harmed. She would defend them, even if it was her worst enemy. SHe has a hard time holdnig grudges, no mater how angry she may be. IT is very hard to insult her or get her mad, and she will let most accidenst and slip-ups from others slide. She is sypmathetic when others are hurt, and has a natural curiousity that can lead her into trouble.

Kaeko was raised in a Japanese family, who traveled to NOme when she was 1. They were doctors, andwent to see the current on ein NOme about something or nother. SHe somehow managed to get spereated from them, and the were forced to eave without her. She was adopted by another family however, who turned out to be related to the Japanese familythat she had been seperated from in the first place. SO she lived with them and got to know Balto and the other dogs, geese, whatever in Nome.
