I'm late on the whole "watching the movie" thing, but I really loved this!

The animation: brilliant and clean. I haven't seen such a clean, smooth running stop-motion. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen stop-motion since that movie about the were-rabbit or something like that. Even that was a bit jerky from what I saw. And, the fur's realistic!

I believe you're talking about the Wallace and Gromit movie The Curse of the Wererabbit :)

Yes, thank you for the name, I forgot. xD But the point is, that that was the last stop-motion I have seen out in theaters.

Me...

This movie I was never fond of. I never watched it, but by previews.... It seems REALLY Dumb.

That is my opinion though.

The animation looks good... but Just.. the movie and story stuff seems... odd.

This is not to sound rude but:

*cough* UP looked the same way, and it was voted the best animation of the year. Besides, you haven't seen it, so who are you to say it's a bad movie?

Again, not to be rude or anything.

I have seen it recently, even though I wasn't much interested at first.
And I must say I don't regret it. It's a very good film overall.

Actually there's been a LOT of stop-motion movies recently...more than 2D animated ones in the last 5 years (Wallace & Gromit and the were-rabbit, Coraline, Corpse Bride, Mary and Max, ...) Even though they're rarely famous.

for what I'm guessing is a movie geared towards a younger audience.

Well I don't agree on this. After watching this, I really didn't see anything of the elements we usually see in animated films. Actually, except from the aspect, it could be very well a live action film, and if it was, I'm sure no one would say "it's for children". Not that there is violence, sex or anything, it's just the way the characters talk, the story is taled, the musics...I wouldn't recommend it to young children, actually. But definitely for adults.

As you mentioned, I especially liked the sountrack. It kinda reminds me of Balto in some ways...

I beg to differ. Violence isn't hard to catch, and while the violence isn't gory at any means, violence is present, as guns are very present in this movie. And with the sex, quite hard to find, but there is an instance:

I recently saw this, and I liked it more than I thought I would. In my own opinion, the plot was weird, but then, the book was weird, so it's all good. Weird is better than boring, right? (I read the book years ago, but don't remember much of it.)
It's refreshing to see a stop-motion animated movie.
There was something simpler and enjoyable about it, and it was easy to take in. Weird, simple, soothing, and refreshing all in one.
Anyway, that's my two cents.

Yes well, I'm so used to that, I just didn't notice it :P True, not too many animated films or series have guns...

And yes about that sexual reference too, I watched the film in french but I found that line "strange", something you definitely won't hear in most animated films.

I recently saw this movie and I loved it, mostly because it aims to be different from your standard animated movie. It uses a more offbeat method of storytelling that may not make sense to some, but it's great for those who just want to sit back and go along for the ride.

I agree with iWolf231 that it aims to be different from most animated movies, and I have to point at All Dogs Go To Heaven for also being different. But different is good, yes?

All Dogs did very well as an animated movie, or at least I get the feeling that it did. It aimed to have a different look at what animated children's movies can be, and in the end it worked out for the better.

So just because it's different, doesn't mean it can't be a good movie.

I saw the second half of this movie the other day, and I gotta say, it's one of those movies that's so ridiculous, it's hilarious. XDDD I was laughing the whole time.

So yeah. If you need a laugh, this is a movie to see, in my opinion. ;D
