The history of disputes on this site carries the implication that the majority of the community (or at least, those who participated in the disputes) generally are not interested in assuring that this website remains clean and child-friendly. An attempt to exhume this old discussion will likely only bring disappointment.

I personally don't even understand why sending in fan fics that only people 18 and over can view. I mean, this is a kid's site.. most members are younger than 18.. and alot of the kids under 18 probably are going to view 'em anyway.

If it upsets you that much, just change the age in your profile, pretend to be 18 or older, and just read it. It's your own fault if you read it. And you sure wont be the first one to do this..

Another thing that bothers me is how legally, I'm an adult at 16 where I live. x)

In my opinion, I don't think the restrictions thing was a good idea, actually. I think maybe to 13 and under would be a good idea, but anyone over 13 who is old enough to know what they can and can not handle should be told what's in the fanfic, then they can decide if they should read it or not. Similar to DeviantART, there's a mature content filter there that says "Contains nudity/sexual themes/violence/gore", you get the idea. And the artist/writer also has the option of restricting it to an age group of their choice.

I think this would be a good idea, or at least worth trying.
