i dont know it said it on animal planet on that dogs 101 show. i wasn't really paying attention to why. i guess because there herding dogs they try to herd other pets and small children. i heard that much. also they have a lot of energy.

Yes, they need a whole lot of exercise and lots of room to romp around, but most of all they need a job to do. If it was left a lone in an empty house for a while it will most likely destroy your house. Yes they are very intelligent dogs but they need mental and physical stimulation.

If you live on a farm then there is no better dog to get, but yeah...
Border Collie + Apartment - Family = Destruction.

Destruction? Well, I was going take risk, but you are right. Border Collies are cute, but destruction is not acceptable.

Well actually, you are right border collies do need a lot of room to romp around in but also lack of attention could cause a mighty bad destruction too. Golden retrievers are the proven #1 family dog. I would suggest a Golden or German Shepherd. They're both brilliant.

I should suggest a full lab bout from a kennel or saved from the SPCA my family have always been fans of labs their really good dogs and dont ask for mutch only uncontional love and care. they can be a pain in the first year or two but after a while they becomes the dream dog and the ideal life partner. but also it depends on if you choose to castrate your dog they will calm down sooner if you do so but in the end all the hard work will pay off with the result of the perfect dog.

im only eleven and I know all of that, man I read too much

and that you guys where talking about border collies i would not recommend them to people who dont live on a farm with sheeps and other herding animals. My mom had a border collie as kid and they had to give her away to a farm cause she tried to herd, her, her siblings and friends who came over. and she bit them (not hard) in legs and heels to keep them herded.
