Suki had volunteered to take the evening patrol as soon as she had heard the news that afternoon. She tried to keep her speed at an acceptable pace as she circled around the mill once, finishing the cirlce when she was at the wall nearest the woods. She walked backwards as she slowly disappeared into the first few trees of the woods. Hopefully, her three friends would be somewhere nearby. This wasn't a schedualed visit this time. "Tango! Ally! Luke!" she whispered urgently into the darkening trees. "Anybody around?"
Tango happened to be in his second den nearest the mill. The other one was a safe distance. He heard his name being whispered and instantly recognized Suki. He heard Ally and Luke's names called too, so when she trotted up to Suki, he said, "Suki, what there. I'll go get the others." He dashed back through the woods to find Ally and Luke. This sounded very important.

"Momma! Come on!" yelled Luke, trying to pull his mother out of their den by the ear. "Its time to get up!" he said, pulling harder. He heard Tango. "Tango! We're over here! Momma is still asleep!" He yelled.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the woods, Sally was waking her kits. "Come on children." she said. Though skunks could come out any time, they were most active in the early morning and late afternoon, sunrise and sunset. "Time to get breakfast." she said, they were off milk and learning to hunt on their own.
Blazer groaned. "Momma, five more minutes." he said irrtably but was soon nudged awake.

Allison said "Okay, Okay. I'm up." Allison then got up and walked out of the den. She seen Tango after a few minutes of waking up and stretching. She then walked up close to Tango and asked politely and friendly "Do you need anything, Tange?"

"Yes, come on!" Tango said, already rushing back to Suki, but keeping Allison and Luke in his sight. "Suki has some imortant news. I don't know what yet, but it's urgent!"
Shadow joined herself awake and stretched. "Yes. momma," she said obidiently.

Luke ran as fast as he could and ended up running full speed into Suki's stomach. He yelpped. "Sorry Suki!"
Sally looked at her final kit, Cody. "Someone wake your brother." she said, Blazer lifted his tail at his siblings. "Blazer, no." she said, Blazer lowered his tail. Sally nudged Cody.

Cody finally woke up and yawned and said "Yes, mother. What is it? Am I in trouble?"
Allison ran as swiftly as her kid but stopped when she seen Suki. When she seen Luke ram into Suki she grabbed Luke and put him next to her. She then said "Kids. Anyways, what do you want, Suki?"

"It's fine, it's fine," Suki said, to anxious to care about much. "But we were told yesterday that the mill is taking the rest of the forest. You three have got to get out of here."
Tango looked at Suki with wide eyes. "What? Where are we supposed to go? I just got settled here!"

"B-but...but why?" asked Luke, tears in his eyes. "Why are they doing this?" he asked, reasonably upset. He burst into tears.
"No honey, just time to go get some food." said Sally. "Now remember, if we see a predator, we all give it warnings before we spray it, right?" she asked. "We've only got so much of our stinky musk to defend ourselves with." she said. "Do you remember how to warn a predator you're gonna spray it?"

Allison put her paw around her Luke and held him close and said very motherly "There...There. Everything will be alright."
Cody responded to his mother by saying "Mother don't we put up our tails and go towards the predator very slowly going back and forth in the process in a threatening way."

Suki shook her head in dispair at her friends' reactions. "I;m sorry, but I can't do anything about it now. They'vr already decided. But you all need to get out of here before they find you."
Tango sat on the ground with a sigh. "I guess we'll just have to find a new home."
"And we stomp the ground too, right?" Shadow added.

"And we hiss too." said Blazer.
"Good children." said Sally. "Lets go." she said and lead her kits out to forage.
