Since no one paid any attention to what I said before:

I have to agree with Vivid. Even though I find JB and HM annoying (but like a couple JB songs) it isn't that hard to carry out a completely different discussion while they also have their own.
I have seen what you're talking about Star_fire (has seen the arguements) I have to admit, a lot of what they're doing seems like spamming to me, but I'm no expert on the shout box. They do overreact to a lot of things as you stated, but just try to be nice or ask them to take it to PMs if it's really bugging you.

Which is why you cant stop them, even if you tell them to stop. They have freedom of speech and blah blah so it will still go on. The best possible thing to do is to not go in that convo like so many others have already said. If you dont like the convo dont even go into the shout box is what i do.

So theres really nothing anyone can do about it, because a lot of people like that band and like to talk about it constintly. There are other ways to you can add in the convo that you like such and such band and see if they do to. There are multiple ways to go around this without it being a big issue.

I'm not a JB hater or fan (though I will have to say I really, really don't like HM) but you're right. This is a BALTO and TLK site. Not one for the Jonas Brothers... it's one thing if they mention them or say "Yeah they're cool" but some of them are like "OMG Joe iz so hots!" "Yeah, I wantz to marry himz!" "Yeah I knows himz!". They can get pretty annoying!

I agree with Panama and Vivid... I mean I'm not a Jonas brothers fan either or Hannah montana or whatever its called, I think all the fads now a days are just plain weird, but people are going to like them, mainly cus we're on a kids site, and the majority of the population here is 13- 15 or so.. ya know.. its a kid , early teen thing... its no different than the Backstreet boys or NSYNC when I was that age... So I kinda know where these people are coming from...

I just simply ignore it really.. no need to bash people for what they like.. but I do have a problem when people threaten their own health over silly stuff like who likes who more, that is simply uncalled for....

Well kids will be kids, and yeah i know it gets pretty pathetic after a while. Reading what you said, that ignoring them and trying to start a different convo dosnt work. Well then i simply have no clue on what to do, there is simply nothing to do. Banning a kid from liking a band wouldnt fly with everybody, it would just start a big flame war.

What i would do personaly when you see those kids on the shout box dont even bother going on it. Do something else in the mean time like look through art or post some up, maybe fan fics. I dont know something. XD

Believe it or not, the majority of members aren't here for Balto any more. Sure, that's how most of us found the site, but most are just here for the fan sections and feedback, friendships and discussions. You will very, very rarely visit the SB and find that everyone is talking about Balto. Unless it's a new member who doesn't quite know what to talk about yet.

Since when did shoutbox discussion have to be about Balto? It shouldn't have to be, considering that there are four official boards for the Balto discussion. Added to that, there is no rule that requires Balto discussion. Shoutboxes are generally used for general discussion, and that's basically what I see on the sboutbox. Regardless of the likability or stupidity of much of the discussion.

I do agree there is to much or to many users that involve the Jonah brothers. If there such fans of them, why don't they leave and go a fan site for that.

Were not saying they can't talking about them or haveing to just talk about balto, its just now every day the same people come in all at once and talk about them. It is rather annoying.

There is allways the option to ban the topic, but that is highly unessary in this point in time.

With that logic, you should be off talking about Bolt on a Bolt website and never ever EVAR on the SB.

I don't see how it is annoying, care to elaborate? I admit I tire of it easily but so what? It's not my place to tell them what to talk about or flame themf or liking something. They aren't talking to you, so it shouldn't be a problem.

An no there isn't, or at least there shouldn't be, the "option to ban the topic." Like I said you can NOT control what people talk about. If you ban talking about JB on here, then you'd need to ban every other non-Balto related subject from the SB. And considering what I said in a previous post, the site would die a lot quicker than people expect it to.

Anyway, I don't think the whole Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana thing is as bad as people make it out to be.
I absolutely loathe both the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana but so far I've managed to completely avoid talking about them on BS anywhere. The same sort of thing goes for Twilight or Warriors. It's popular - people will talk about it.

If you're sitting in the shoutbox, someone comes in and says "omg anyone liek the Jonas Brothers!?" just say "Nope, sorry, don't like them" and move on.
If someone else does like them and the two of them start talking about them then carry on a conversation with someone else about something else and leave it alone.
If they start going "omg why?? JB is the best ever!" then all it takes is a quick "Eh. It's just my opinion." and there's not a lot else for them to say.

If you flame them for it or bash whatever they're talking then obviously they're going to get annoyed and keep at it.
If they keep flaming you for not liking them and you are -not- provoking them into it then just report them, if there's no mods around to deal with it that instant then do what Panama suggested - Go look at something else on the site. Look at the forums. Maybe check your email, just do something other than fight with them, they'll get bored of having no responses and leave and you can come back later and enjoy yourself without getting in trouble for arguing with them.

For the record; I have seen people get instantly rude to others in the shoutbox as soon as they even think about mentioning the Jonas brothers, Hannah Montana and Twilight and start flaming them, bashing them and upsetting them for absolutely -no- reason.
The fans of these things are not always the ones in the wrong. Keep that in mind.
