I guess that you should stop repeating what a Mod allready said...
And Yes kaltag is a town.If you check the map(Alaska's map),you will be able to find it.Basically most of Balto Characters`names are based on Regions and location.

I don't beleive that is the Kaltag in the Balto film. I think it's just a husky that was named after the town Kaltag. I think Kaltag was a made up chracter and that his name was inspired from the old town.

There actually wasn't a dog on Balto's team named Kaltag. The other dogs on his real life team were Fox, Sye, Billie, Tillie, Old Moctoc, and Alaska Slim.

I doub't there was even a real Kaltag used in the Serum Run. It can just be someones pet, and they made the picture in Black and white.
OMG its the real Steele!!! Lol!!
 (Not really its just a picture of my dog, that I made in black and white)
And thats probely what they did for the Kaltag picture, and claimed it was real.

Naw, the movie character was just named after the town, Kaltag. Which is in Alaska, and stated above on the other posts, was one of the towns in the Serum Run.

Kaltag will have been named after the town in Alaska, that is on the route of the Iditarod Trail. Kaltag is a popular sled dog name as well. But it is only the name, I doubt he was after a real dog.
