When I first joined it was Inuyasha. Then it was Naruto. Now it's Twilight. xD It happens in real life too. My ex-boyfriend was named Edward C. ( not adding his last name. ) so people called him Edward Cullen. x-x

Just my final two cents on the topic (I've been sick and still not feeling well):

This sort of thing is actually fairly normal behavior of young people on the Internet and in any particular fandom and in the global population of humanity (fantasizing over a particular character or celebrity, writing themselves into fanfiction, or being "shippers" of the weirdest sort (and I've seen almost everything under the sun >.>;)). But anyway, they usually grow out of it. It's just an outgrowth of the whole plastering a particular celeb all over a room or locker or whatever - it's just (even more) annoying.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe in an RP with that specific topic and you have a set charrie, but on the other hand no way!!! I can openly admit, I like Deidara from Naruto (Funny you use the him, I can see we are on the same page), I mean, hey, check out the sig and avatar, but that's taking it way too far. Maybe a joke in a PM, I am putting emphasis on PM, but that ends it fair and square. And cosplaying in RL id another story, but lets leave the entire anime relations to the fanfics, shall we? Yes, my nickname that my friends is DG, meaning Deidara's Girl (It was so sweet how my best friends are like that, and they are guys!!!(, but thats just a name, I go by it, and I know when to stop! And even then, I'm also Piano Freak or Romanian Chick, adding diversity. So can we stop with this of the site? Glad you made this topic!!!

B: ugh!! you guys are so totally bakas! im dating sasuke and he is too real nanodesu! ITAI! genki desu ka!
Me: ... Do you even know what " genki desu ka " means?
B: yes!!

And they use completely random phrases that make no sense WHATSO-EVER.

Me: Yeah. Sure you do.
Sane person: Lol, what's happening here?
Me: Some people think they're dating an anime character.
Sane person: LOL. I think I'm just gonna sit back and watch the show.
A: what show!?
Me: The one your so called animated boyfriend is from.
B: he's real desu ka!!!! desu desu desu desu!
Me: Er. You guys are crazy. Bye.

So, in the end I have a headache and we have made it nowhere.

Ok, this is a really funny rant and I agree with you all the way. How can you freaking date a made up character?!

According to this guy who petitioning the Japanese government to allow him to marry Asahina Mikuru from THe Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya... you can.

Okay, that was a funny rant. I've seen that on every anime-related site I've ever been on. Including searching AMVs on youtube.
I'm something of an Otaku and I'll admit that I do develope anime crushes, but I know they're not real. I hate it when I see someone post "he's mine!" or something like that. I always think or say "if he/she belongs to anybody it's his/her creator".
I've actually had someone say that about my character Bullet (human form) in my creative writing class o.O'

As for butchering the japanese language, I do that too. I really want to learn japanese, but it's one of the only languages that they don't teach at my school so I ended up taking (and sucking in) spanish. I usually try to learn phrases that you can say on their own (like "I love you") without adding a single word to an english sentence. I don't do it online though, only among my friends, I find it kinda annoying when every other word is Kawaii or Desu online.

I guess that's about all I have to say about this for now...

I think it's fine if they want to marry them, but it gets annoyijng when they start fighting over who will marry them.

Wow, that is a bit creepy. Looks don't always make people think someone else is hot though, it could be personality based. Oh well, it's still creepy.
