Sylis was pushing agains the bars of hr cage, trying to stay on her feet, but at the last moment she hit her head hard. She felt like she was swimming and slowly a curtain of blackness fell over her vision. I'm going to die anyway, I might as well die knocked out she thought, and allowed herself to collapse to the floor.

Through hr murky thoughts and half closed eyes, Sylis watched as the plane's nose smashed into the ice covered ground, a horrible crunching sound filled her ears, and the yelps and screams from the other dogs could only just be heard, a shard of metal broke off and slashed her shoulder, and Sylis whimpered, but quickly slipped into unconsciousness.

Through the clouds of darkness, Sylis could feel a numb pain, and loud smashing sounds, and above all of that the whimpering of her sister. After what seemed like ages, the smashing stopped, and the darkness started to fade away. As Sylis opened her eyes, all she could see through the blur was smoke and flames. 'Larka' she croaked, her throat dry and sore.

'Larka, where are you?' Sylis called, she had licked her mouth a few times and swallowed a lot, but she was still breathing in smoke. The door of her cage had swung open, and Sylis dragged herself out, she looked at herself, it wasn't as bad as she had expected, a few bad cuts but no broken bones or anything. 'Larka I'm coming' she called, standing up and walking over the wreckage.

Sylis heard Larka whimpering and limped over to the noise. The chill wind was tugging at her fur in the places where the fire did not form a protective heat wall. She spotted her sister in her cage amongst a huge pile of wreckage, but the door would be easy to reach. She scrambled over to Larka and poked her nose through the bars, touching her sisters gently. 'Larka I will get you out, trust me' she whispered, at the same time glancing around for something she could open the cage with.
