Her pale eyes stared at him, a smirk playing on her face. The bartender chuckled and ruffled her hair, laughing harder at the growl she tossed at him. "Can it, lassie. Y'know I'll be chargin' ye for tha' one, jus' for the growl." he winked and held out his scruffed palm. Adrieanne, appauled, snatched some bread off the counter and flung three golden coins onto the table. "It's all I have left. If you can ring that in for normal cash, that'll be about the right price. A bit over maybe." she smiled none the less. Ever since her parents had dissapeared, Willis, the bartender and owner of the Brushbow, had been keeping an eye one her. He was big and muscular, a fitting werewolf like herself. He had lived in Ireland most of his life, hence the accent, then moved here. She was glad he did too.
She returned to the male next to her, raising her eyebrow slowly. "Well, who are you puppy?" she teased, catching the drift of wolf on him. She looked him over. Strong, scruffy, yet handsome in his ways. Lovely...
"Dammit Adrieanne, where the he- Oh."
Rafe blushed as everybody's gaze shifted to him. "Uh... hey everyone..." he lolled out lazily, pretending like he was drunk. The others returned to their meals.
Rafe stormed over to Adrieanne and grabbed her arm, which she swiftly pulled away. "Were you actually thinking about getting something without a present for me?" he growled plaayfully, nipping the top of her ear. She shoved him away and giggled. "I'm not a pup anymore Rafe." she harshly whispered.

Garret smiled politely at the bar tender. He was becoming quite familar with the Irish man since he had spent so many days at that place. The days were so recent, though, that it wasn't anything to call a relationship. He looked back at the female wolf with a raised brow. "That depends. Who are you to want to know?"
Garret had leanred that the mysterious out-look was a better fit for him instead of trying to be all that. He was still trying to adjust to life alone and flainting this fact would only dig himself a hole that would be nearly impossible to climb out of. He couldn't deny that the woman in front of him was attractive, but there were plenty of pretty girls that passed him by every day. This one was differenth though. She wasn't blonde.
He eyed the drunk man that walked in, someone looking for an 'Adrieann'. But as he came closer to Garret, there was a smell of wolf and no smell of alcohal. Garret watched as the man came to the woman he had just met and watched their exchanger. She must have been thos Adrieanne. He waited for her to whisper harshly at Rafe before cocking on eyebrow at her again. "Adrieanne, is it?" he asked before chuckling. "Well, I name for name, I guess. I'm Garret." He couldn't help but smile slightly at Adrieanne, while also keeping a causious eye on Rafe.

"Garret, hm? My pleasure." she held out her hand, expecting him to shake it.
Rafe sniffed and licked his chapped lips as Adrieanne slipped the mead out of her pocket and handed it to him. "Don't get yourself fuzzy, okay?" she snapped as he cradled it in his hands. He wrenched open the cap and chugged down two or three swigs before wiping the corners of his mouth and clearing his throat. "Thanks." he said, handing her the bottle again.

Garret took Adreianne's hand like a good gentlemen would do. Even if he wasn't playing the good gentlman, he still smiled at politely.
"It's a pleasure. ma'am," he said with a small, half-chuckle. He wanted to sound polite and rugged at the same time, not country. "Now, what would I pretty face like yours be doing in a place like this stealing liquor off the counter?"

She smiled. "Flattery will get you nowhere. Besides, it's not illegal for me to get a good swig sometimes. And besides, Willis is okay with me taking the occaisional mead every now and then. Mead's not as heavy as a beer or a vodka." she shrugged and took a small sip, passing her pink tongue over her lips softly. Willis smiled and ruffled her hair, turning back to polishing a mug. "Lassie, you don't smell too good." he murmered, and although his back was turned, Adrieanne could tell her had a worried look painted on his scarred, rough face.
"I was hungry, and the pack's so small now I... went to the beach because of the killings this morning and... had my fill. Their meat was a bit bad by the time I got there, and without Rafe's herbs or spices there to make them better I... just swallowed." she sighed, sitting up onto the counter. Her gaze shifted to Garret. "So, puppy, you got a pack?" she cocked her eyebrow and smiled.

"Well, we can't all be best friends with the bartender, now can we?" Garret asked with a cocked eyebrow. He took a swig of his own bottle. "And I prefer the strong stuff." He smirked as he licked the excess beer from his lips.
"A pack?" Garret leaned against his seat as he thought about how to answer the question. He could tell her the whole truth, that he had a pack and he run away, or he could tell her some lie like he had been doing to everybody else. Since he was starting a new life... "Nope. Been a loner for as long as I can remember. I;m not much for the over-controlling alphas." He chuckled slightly. "What about you? Got yourself a pack?"

Adrieanne spread a big grin over her face. "Yes." Was all she let slip out of her mouth, letting Rafe finish her sentence.
"It's not too big," he began, "but we're looking for recruits. If there are too many loners out there, the humans may figure it out and try to kill us off. We don't want that to happen again..." he murmered, chugging down one more swig of mead.

"You got something against loner?" Garret challened, standing up from his table. "Cause I can tell you we're more careful than any wolf with a pack. We have to survive on our own with nobody there to give us a helping paw. I'd like to see a pack dog survive on the streets alone." He huffed as he sat back down his seat, his raging over and his temper cooled. He ran a hand through his hair.

Adrieanne snarled, loud and clear. People looked up from what they were doing. It was normal for her to snarl, growl, even snap, but that was louder than normal.
"I never said that!" she growled, stepping forward. Her hair stood on edge, not straight up, but enough to look like she was about to rip into the change right then and there. Rafe swallowed a lump in his throat and scrtahced his neck, sighing and shaking his head. Adrieanne stepped backward and sighed. "I just said that some of the loners out there have been acting up lately. In America... they were so bad... so out of control..." Her eyes fell to the floorboards. "Mother and Father couldn't stop them... they were killed by the time they knew what to do... and they never told me... so humans took action and... killed us off... one by one... until it was only my pack, who lived in secrecy as humans... then we came here..."
Rafe grunted and sighed. "Well, I'm off. Adrieanne, we better get moving. You've caused enough trouble, and I wanna go check out those bodies... they didn't seem right on the news."
Adrieanne dipped her head to Garret, flashed him a coy smile, and rushed out of the Brushbow after Rafe, the chains on her jeans jingling loudly. Outside, the air was damp with the strong stench of blood and saliva, and by the way Rafe suddenly started to swagger, Adrieanne could tell something had gone wrong.
Once they finally reached the beach, the news reporters were leaving. "I wouldn't go down there if I had a weak stomach..." one of them said, shaking their head solemnly. All the more interested, Rafe and Adrieanne galloped down the slope, reaching the blood-bathed scene of the sands.
Bodies, some torn open, others carefully butchered into neat, bloody messes, littered the area, bones jutting out of their bodies like they had been crushed. Rafe, rubbing the long scar that ran along his arm, stepped forward and stuck his nose near one of the oozing corpses, sniffing slightly. After a few minutes he made a face and stood up.
"What is it?" Adrieanne murmered, examining another corpse of a woman who had obviously been mauled by something. Her neck torn open, blood staining her clothes. Rafe grunted. "I don't know, but I smell a lot of bear and wolf on these carcasses... too much if you ask me..." Adrieanne looked at him. "Do you think...?"
Rafe shook his head. "I'm not so sure. We have no evidence but our sense of smell...and anywa-"
"No look." Adrieanne pointed to bear tracks in the bloodied sand, along with two or three pairs of wolf tracks. "I know who did this. Only Derek and Raoul make a mess like this and don't clean it up. I think we should go talk to them..." she muttered. The two males were strong, muscular and fit, but had the minds of chihuahuas. The bear, she didn't know about, but they had obviously befriended one or something, because normally a bear wouldn't maul this many people.
Rafe shrugged and started off down the path, following the prints. "You stay behind. I'll go see what I can get out of them." He smiled grimly and cracked his knuckles, black fur creeping up on his cheeks as he disapearred into the woods.
