Would it be a good idea if Balto was available on the iTunes Store?

i think your confusing that with the Balto audiobook but that wasn't there when this topic started so perhaps were making more of an impact? :)
The audiobook on the store is the story of the real serum run. We were hoping to get the movie on the store. However, as Hybrid Misfit said, it may be a first step. They might put up the real story before putting the movie up on the store. Who knows?

I'm not concerned about the movie, because I already have it, but I would like to see the soundtrack in the Itunes store, if they don't already have it yet. A while back I was trying to search for the Ferngully and All Dogs go to Heaven soundtracks and they still didn't have either of those, so it would be cool if they got the Balto soundtrack!

Steet has the Balto soundtrack up on the main site if you were looking for it.

(I didn't answer to that topic already?)
I think it would be a great way to show them that some people are still interested in this film.
I know that even if I don't have any Apple Ipods or anything, I would still buy anything related to it just for that reason.

Glad to hear that Steet. And even if you don't have an iPod, as long as you have the iTunes software, you can play the movie on your computer.

Isn't it possible to use another player like VLC or WMP? Considering Apple's policy, I guess not.

Actually more recently Apple has been loosening the restrictions on the content it sells. I haven't purchased a movie since the changes have taken place but I believe you can use a different media player to play movie purchased off of iTunes but if you have to download iTunes to get the movie, it's not a huge hassle to use it for playback I wouldn't think?

Here's an update that should interest a few people: Apple today released iTunes 9, which contains many new features including iTunes Extras.

iTunes Extras
Now featuring: Special features.

When you buy select movies from the iTunes Store, you won’t get just a movie. You’ll get iTunes Extras — a world of special features you can experience right in your iTunes library. Watch interviews and trailers, view photos, and more on your Mac or PC.

That's right, you can get all the special features that used to be DVD exclusive, such as behind-the-scenes extras, commentaries and other goodies. If only there was a special edition release of Balto with all the features we've wanted. Then the extras wouldn't be restricted to the physical DVD.

I'm all for the soundtrack part. It may not be lossless audio but it's a [temporary] great alternative in the mean time instead of buying the expensive soundtrack on Amazon 'cause of its physical rarity.

They really should do it, especially considering that James Horner did it and many people may want to get it (especially now that he did the musics for Avatar)

This would definately be a good idea. There would be nothing to stop me from getting the movie but I don't think the soundtrack would do too well

I was checking the Itunes store the other day and while they have the soundtracks to nearly all of the films James Horner has composed for, including Avatar, they still don't have Balto. which makes me question the way Apple goes about cataloging it's music...
