I haven't commented on this yet? xD Very logical thing you got going here. I use this technique as well. I think EVERYONE should use this technique. It keeps from having so many sparkledogs xD

Allow me to add the fact that different breeds of dogs have different personalities. So bearing this minor thing in mind you could make your fursona of the breed whose personality matches yours most.

Exactly! Cuz not everyone's like a husky xD Not everyone is hyper, likes running, hard work, being loud, and sheds everywhere xD

Y'all have different hair types too; curly hair, straight hair, short hair, long hair, etc.

Also, it might help to base it a little off where you come from as well. My (natural) fursona is a Dingo/Australian Shepherd/Labrador mix because I come from Queensland in Australia. Yes, a few people do have huskies, but I wouldn't say it's the most humane thing. It gets up to 40 degrees C here (104 degrees F) and the lowest, in the middle of Winter very late at night or very early in the morning, is 4 degrees C (39 F). Yah, so basically what I'm saying is, a Malamute from Arizona isn't the best idea.

I never thought of that guys. xD But it makes perfect sense. My fursona is a wolf (Actually I think she's a wolf\fox. O.o I'll check with Deni) but I'm not anyhting like a wolf. xD Heh, maybe I should make a Golden Retriever fursona. I took some of those 'What dog breed are you?' tests and that was always the result, haven't taken one in years tho'.

Do you two mind if I include what you said about breeds and even your hair atching your fursonas in the main post? I think it's another good point to keep in mind. :]

Yes, taking such quiz help you to find what breed matches you most. You can definitely mention that in the main post and even add a link to one of those quizzes to make it easier to others. Just do anything that will stop people creating pointless fursonas.

Now,this tutorial is just awesome!I finally made a fursona just for me...!

My fursona is wolf-dog named Ksenia.I named her that because I really wanted to be named like that.
Below is a pic of her. From the first sight she may look really girly, but she's not. That butterfly on her left ear is an accesory that I love to add into my hair.:).my hair is brown and REALLY curly,so I added it too.My eyes are grayish-blue,so I added it too.As for her fur color...That's another color of my hair,or in another form, shadow of my hair.:).That darkish marking on her left shoulder is bassically my birthmark. And darkish markings around her eyes...I have them too.I made her to be a wolf-dog because I love both wolves and dogs. But for me she looks a bit like horse-cross LOL.

After reading through this again I realised neither of my 2 fursona's (soon to be 3) are anything at all like me in looks.
Well, anthro ones are nearer because well, anthro is easier. I give my anthro versions the same clothes I wear etc.

My feral ones though (UK and Oìche) don't follow this. P=
They've both got blue eyes - I have hazel.
Neither have hair - I do. (exception: anthro)
My name's Becky - not Oìche Bàisteach (Night Rain in Gaelic) or UK (although I would legally make UK my middle name if I could be bothered.)
I'm not purple & black ... though I guess UK being white -could- count.
I doubt I'm -that- much like a wolf... and they're both wolves. Though a Daemon/personality quiz I did once (which had very psychological questions) did have wolf as one of the suggested animals.

This is the -best- technique for someone new to creating a fursona or stuck on it though (meaning Keilidh's topic...).

VERY well (and easily) put, Keili. c:

Another good example would be my (ill-used) fursona "Stitches."

Her coat is brown -- the color of my eyes -- and her hair dark umber (mine being dark brown, almost black, with a red shine in it). See the connections so far?

But there're other things that "tie" her to me:

• She's very outspoken and brutally honest when she wants to be.
• Her mouth being stitched shut represents all of the secrets I know and have been asked to keep.
• She, too, is very macabre/Gothic.
• She enjoys the out-of-doors.
• She's very loyal, comprehensive, and very easy-going.
• Her eyes are golden, symbolizing manipulated beauty (such as the element Gold).

See? You can even tie in teeny little bits of symbolism that no one else will really catch, until you point them out. You can have more, or less, too. c:
