I played quite a appealing for me. (bunch my favorites are:

Simon the Sorcerer 1&2:
A very good game one of the first i ever played, i loved Simon when he made his sarcastic jokes or the nice places you go (McSwampkins everyone should know from what it comes and their value meal)s and sarcastic view in the game made it one of my happiest experiences.
Diablo:
Another game i played at the begginings, at first with my uncle who got to finish the game over 20 times while i finished it only once. =(
Warlords 3:
This TBS was a very fun experience my first multyplayer experience (hotseat) and i loved every piece of it even most comment the Warlords series.
Heroes of Might and Magic:
Everyone knows this series the first games reminded me of chess and it was possible to calculate the damage and such but from heroes 3 they complicated it adding more armies monsters etc... making the pen&paper trick unusable.
Monkey Island series:
Guess everybody knows it so i wont have say why i like Guybrush's adventures.
etc....
I never been a fan of FPS's and i will never be, only Duke Nukem 3D was a pleasant experience for me (we all love those babes =) ) .

I can go all day but these are the games i still remember today and replay from time to time.

really i think that each game that comes out is better than the last but some of the old games just really stink. i mean final Fantasy 7 is good but the rest of the old ones i don't really care for anymore.
Im looking forward to getting a try on this game called 'Prince of Persia'

Really thats a thing i usualy hear from a wittle nooblet that his first game was Counter-Strike.
Best storyline?
Did u try daggerfall to see the most complex game in history?
Did u try Myst to see a good storyline?
Did u play monkey island to cry yourself laughing of the genius jokes in the game?
Did u ever had the feeling that graphics isnt everything in the game and that the old ones made the new ones come out even tough most new ones are pieces of junk compared to the old ones.
