Gah, sorry for the long wait, everyone. I've just run out of muse, but hopefully it's back. ;D

It wasn't until Rio and her handler made it to the end of the isle of kennels to turn around to retrace their steps that they noticed that the remainder of their squad team had begun to regroup. The female stood beside the officer she was assigned to, as she was trained to do, until he gave her a light tug from the leash to walk her back towards the others. This was what Rio dreaded, heading into the discriminating bunch that caused her so much stress. She did
not look forward to this today.
"Her father isn't here anymore Nero, but she still wouldn't be able to fire any us, she needs us more than we need her."As Rio padded up to the group, she turned to glare at Talon, who sat beside Nero and his own handler. Why were guys such jerks?
"Don't bet on it. I could handle this next mission with my eyes closed if I wanted to!" She barked, although deep in her mind she knew she wouldn't be able to take on a mission as big and dangerous as this all by her lonesome. Although, she knew for a fact that Sarge, and possibly Enzo and Max, would tag along with her, mostly for back-up.
'Why can't teh other guys be like them? Why treat a female so badly?' Rio asked herself, fully unable to answer her own question.
The hybrid rolled her eyes with her head slightly turned to one side as the two males greeted eachother. She watched as another officer came into the kennel room and opened Spike's kennel, whom also strode right on over to the developing group. She expected him to say something to support Nero, but instead he commented on Talon's remark. Still, he took sides with the other guys.
"Talon, you're absolutely right. If it weren't for her daddy, Rio wouldn't even be a part of this team. Would you now, Rio?"Her face felt as though it were on fire as she glared at Spike, her icy blue eyes so intense that if she were to stare any harder her vision would burn right through him. Her anger was rising rather quickly, more than usual. At this point she wasn't even able to come up with a good come back, so instead she merely growled and bared her fangs at the guys.
'My dad would so kick your *** if he heard you say that!' Rio snarled in her mind, knowing it was wise to keep her tongue in this kind of situation. More arousement would only cause trouble, which she didn't need, and there was no way she would give the males another excuse to make fun of her.
"Morning, Nero, Spike, Talon. Why Rio, you look well-rested. Weren't dreaming about me again now, were you? You know you have to keep your mind focused on your duties, especially since you're chief now."Enzo's greeting took Rio by surprise, and she jerked herself closer to her handler's side when he popped out of nowhere. His kind words puzzled her for a moment's time, but Enzo was usually a nice guy so she quickly cured her minro sense of confusion.
"Why thank you, Enzo. At least someone knows how to speak to a lady." The hybrid grinned towards the young male Shepherd, but it quickly faded once he chuckled.
"If you don't pay attention, you might get hurt, then you'll have to stay behind while we do all the work."Rio grew slightly more serious once this was said. She knew she didn't want the guys doing all the work. That would make her feel like a failure and only cause her misfortune; she'd feel as though she let down her father. He had faith in her and the only was she could prove to him, to the whole squad, was to follow in his footsteps and carry on the duties as a responsible police dog. Aparently all the males thought she wouldn't be able to handle the pressure.
"There's no need to worry about that. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. It's all of you who'll have to pay attention." She didn't intend on being skeptical, but she didn't want the guys to amke her feel inferior.
When everything seemed to calm down after a few minutes, the female quietly watched as Enzo began to chew on his red and yellow ball. That was, before Sargeant padded up, followed by Max.
"Alright, everyone, that's enough teasing. Rio has alot of responsibility resting on her shoulders, and you're not making it any easier by taunting her. I'm sure none of you could do better than what she's doing right now, especially after losing a loved one...."A sigh of relief slipped through Rio's onyx lips. She knew for a fact that Sarge was very respected by the squad, seeing as he was Charlie's right hand partner. Rio was touched by his sincere words, and glanced at him with a generous smile. He gave a reassuring smile back, which made the female feel a bit of pride bubbling in her chest. But then the realization of her responsibilities of watching and leader the
whole swuad suddenly overwhelmed her. She looked down at her paws with wide eyes, completely separating herself from the outside world. She was lost in her thougths for quite a while, at least as long as the handler's conversed, before her own handler patted the top of her head. It was time to go to the meeting room.
Rio was knocked back into reality when she felt a light tug at her neck. She got up on all fours and padded beside her handler as they began to make their way towards the meeting room. She just hoped that she'd be able to announce the mission without making herself look like a fool.
