White Wolf's Moon wrote: *nods* Very convincing rants, I must say Vivid. (don't be to hard on yourself; most members deserve to hear this kind of ranting, especially if it's about them). I too, was quite obsesed with adoptions for many months. Evidence is in that 50-odd page long adoption topic I made. I'm trying to get it to die... However, I have never used line art from any artist on adoption topics or for my own characters, and I try to create unique designs when I do post those 'prom night dumpster baby' adoptions(a rareity now, accept for my fansaty breed topic). Yes, I am somewhat of a character packrat, >< but I can't get rid of any of tem because they are all relativly necessary on some level or another. So, really I accept most of these rants with a mature attitude. I am trying to ammend my ways. ^^ Now that that's out of the way...: Cat~ Totally agree with you. Just recently, someone took one of the poses from my gallery and colored it so it looked EXACTLY like another one of my chars. It irked me so much...I busted them, but they never PM'd me back, nor admitted to the flagrant art theft. One other thing I noticed is that the certain members who are guilty of awful designs, character rip-offs, crappy lina-art coloring, and mass breeding centers are members who have been members of BaltoSource for a loooong time, years even! You'd think they'd get a clue that those kinds of adoptions are not attractive or skillfully created at all by now, and maybe would've bothered to PUT SOME EFFORT into the designs. But nooooo, they just keep on using the same lineart and recycling the same sucky designs over and over. Hmm, that was Kiche who made that post, not me. But yeah, that's very mature of you and good that you've come to your senses. The one kind of adoption that annoys me most is the "first come 1st serve!!11!!!!1! you dont need a bio or pic!" adoptions, where people simply say "ooh, i want that one" and BAM! it's yours, no effort required, and a lot of them are what we know as 'bad renders' or 'badly coloured linearts'. They aren't allowed anywhere else, so why allow them on the adoption topics!?

lol, it's all good, WWM ~ Ah, I felt like I had more to say... or that I should have more to say... but everyone's pretty much been just reinforcing my points, and I'm tired as a dog, so... *yawn* nothing, really *awkward* :/

Haha, I suppose Im just reinforcing what people have said, but...I wanna say my bit aswell XD. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I mean, I browse the adoption topics, clicking on the names that I think MAY have some charries that are ORIGINAL, UNIQUE, NOT THE SAME AS ALL THE OTHERS IN THE BATCH....and well, you know, you can just tell when someone has taken care over a design... it just looks GOOD. But no. They're all a bunch of crap that probably took the "proud creator" about 3 nanoseconds. And if they don't give a toss about them, why should I? At least if they've used their own lineart, I'll give them some brownie points XD So I no longer get my hopes up. There's no point, in reality. In future, I'll only browse Adotpion topics created by you guys XD becus I know you care about the quality of adoptions as much as any decent person

I don't mind doing the occasional adoption when I need a design/character and I'm too busy to make my own, but I don't like to make a habit of it.
One reason I don't like to do adoptions often is because it's not really my own character/drawing and I feel kinda wrong for not doing it myself(which is why ya will never see me request a sig. or avatar, because I don't like to use others art. I like to make my own.)
One thing that really annoys me is when I go into an adoption topic, see everybody post a bio(often without a pic.) and as soon as I post my own bio and pic the whole thing slows down(as in nobody posts for a long time or at all anymore). I don't know why this happens but I seem to have some "adoption curse" happening that's whenever I post, the whole topic dies/slows drastically.

first your "homes" are vetted - i e galleries checked to see if chars are regulary drawn and what you have done with past adoptees ..
then it is finalised to two people who must draw the charrie been introduced to their new owners and taken for the first walk in the shelter to see if they are suitable
then by judging on what you have added to the charries bio whcih i have posted for it you are chosen for the adoptee
i hope this is more like what adoptions will be like and seems more realistic to me- please tell me if this is not suitable and still is like the other topics - i realy want to try and blot out the "fakes" That's a very well-thought out way to do adoptions, and I'm glad there are people who put effort into them. I just saw a topic in adoptions that had everything that shouldn't be done in adoptions done in it. It was shameful.

This is why I usually don't let my oddly colored characters loose; because the ugly designs ruin it. We all have our bizarre dogs/wolves, and that's fine. But if you're going to make a litter, it would be a good idea to... oh, I don't know... FOLLOW GENETICS. Why am I peeved? I got called out on a design? No, that's not it. If you think my design is ugly, fine, press the back button. But at least have the balls to say it to my face. If you think you can make it better, I'd like to hear your suggestions. i apoligise sora -kun ... i wasnt making fun of your charrie razz phails- i didnt relise th design was the same... i just randomly coloured them in about 5 seconds with whatever colours i had i can change it if you wish so that it does not resemble your charrie at all again sorry for the inconviniance but it does go to prove your point as well that adoptions like theese ruin the brightly coloured charries already out their that look good and are used properly No no, it's good. I think I really overreacted. o.o

YES I was just about to say that - it would greatly help the clutter and it would actually boost the number of naturally colored ones that people actually WANT to have and keep, because these fluro colored ones, let's face it, hardly ANYONE keeps them.

Take it out of teh adoptees. Oh my God that drives me INSANE. You're willing to spend time on your design but you're going to be shoddy with others? Then don't form an adoption topic.
