I would have to say that the Sly Cooper games give the player a good feel for the dynamics of each character. I mean, the storyline, the controls, the gameplay... it's all centered around how each character "ticks".
Aye, as far as I know the Sly Cooper game are one of the few where gameplay abilities stay relatively close to the story. Sly's a stealthy trickster and thief; Bentley is a robotic, mechanical, and demolition expert; and Murray is... well, brawn.
Credit to the developers because they managed to stay with that idea through the final game where they added even more characters.
And it's not the character dynamics that is the only thing to shine but the story and the twists in events really portray the emotion of the characters on you. A cartoony style? Yes. But you can easily feel the emotions the characters go through.
Another game I want to put up on this list is Final Fantasy XII. Thought in the first release of the game the characters all eventually end up being the same in combat, the story really dives into the characters emotions and thoughts.
