I did read your story, and I must say it did give me the creeps (I actually had a little trouble sleeping last night - thanks a lot! XD) I think what you saw was an 'orb,' or maybe a 'will-o-wisp.' (for more info see here.) These often have rational explanations - will-o-wisps might be the spontaneous combustion of marsh gases, but you didn't mention a marsh so who knows...

Personnaly,I somewhat believe in Ghosts.I've actually come across a few unexplainable things that can be consider ghosts,I'm not however in the mood to say any for now.
I may be catholic, but I belive in the supernatural as well. That's one of the reasons why I use a dream catcher

I use Oujia boards. (And YES its spelled "Oujia".) My older sister and I decided to use it, and thats how we found out alot more about our neightbors. Suddenly, our dog ran to the window and started barking at the empty house.

And if you ask me, they do work. I can even use them by myself. It depends on how much you believe. I can even talk to my dead animals... Sounds crazy, yes. But you'd never know if you're really talking to them, for if you can't see them, you don't know for sure. I've even burned one.

Once I took a picture of the couch and a clear figure showed up, shaped like a dog holding his paw out.

Oujia boards is something me and my family do often. We go to my Aunt's house every year for Thanksgiving and have saramonies. (sp?) We use the Oujia board, and once before we all went into an abandoned grave yard and heard screaming.... We took pictures, too, showing many orbs. And even a strange shape that glowed very brightly in a picture on my cousin laying on an above ground coffin.

During a saramony, we tried to contact my grandmother, as we sat at my grandmother's old table... only lit candles. My cousin (a 3-year-old who doesn't know how to read or write.) was drawing random sketches of, I dunno- something? xD Well, she couldn't see good anyways in the dark. We heard scratching at the windows right behind me! Tapping from the hall, and even a CONVERSATION in the EMPTY back room. We could only hear mumbles... Two hours later, we turned on the lights. We looked at what my little cousin had drawn, and clearly it spelled out "Betty." MY GRANDMOTHER'S NAME. Remeber she can't read or write...

My Aunt confessed for the first time to us that she always feels a spirit in the small hall that leads to her room. The back room. She said she some how knows it an old man. And how one day, her friend came over, (a football player I don't know.) and he said "Hm... That weird. I swear I just saw a little old man right here infront of the glass door." And guess what, he's always had a girft for telling stuff like that. He slept over, and he woke up durring late night, but he couldn't get up. Something was holding him, down, I mean he was a bulky football player!

When my Aunt bought the house, there were old candles burned out on the floor, and painted symbols on the walls. My Aunt watched over the house for a while but it seemed as if there was no evil spirits.

Spirits are a big thing in my family. And as of the previous conversation, I think they like being called Spirits more. Its a more respected name.

Please don't flame me for bringing up the Oujia thing.

@JC:Hmmmm....That's a rather interesting story of yours. I like how it's very detailed unlike other "ghost stories" and how ya aren't jumping to conclusions.

I do (Some-what) belive that there are ghost, spirits.
If you are intrested on a haunting (A Real? One) that might have ghost depending on how you look at it, I sugest you Re-search the History of "Rose Red" Here is a link for a good breif on Rose Red : http://www.geocities.com/aesgaard41/rosered.html

I don't really have any of my own, nothing worth noting anyway.
Just the occasional odd feeling or glimpse of something that's not there at night.

There is a Pub/Bar hotel in Exeter, somewhere near the Cathedral, that supposedly has a haunted cellar. A lot of guests have reported hearing lots of footsteps down there during the night and a few have reported seeing the ghosts of a Roman army squadron marching through the cellar fully dressed up for war.

I do also live very close to Dartmoor which is well-known for many ghosts and spirits alledgedly haunting the vast moors.
Here are just a few and the area of Dartmoor they supposedly appear:
Highwayman - Beetor Cross - This cloaked figure has been known to stand by the cross, empty eye sockets watching the road ahead.

Childe - Childe's tomb - A hunter who froze to death on the moor, Childe's ghost was seen being carried by phantom monks.

Old Crockern - Crockern Tor - Riding on the back of a skeletal horse, Crockern insists on moving down this path waving a sword in his dead hand.

Limpety - Green Hill & Black Lane area - Lost on the moor during a snowstorm, a master of the Dartmoor foxhunt claimed that a petite man on a grey horse came from nowhere and led him to safety. He later saw a painting of a gypsy called Limpety and named him as his saviour, only to be told that he had died on the moor 50 years previous.

These I got from here - http://www.paranormaldatabase.com/hotspots/dartmoor.php
It only has brief information but it's very interesting to look into them and having been up on Dartmoor myself plenty of times it's easy to imagine these figures and ghosts up there.

I do believe in ghosts but I am very skeptical about what I choose to believe. A lot of the stories people tell of old haunted houses don't hold much water with me as in most cases the houses/buildings are so old they're constantly creaking and drafty and cold anyway. xD

I'm not sure I buy the whole Ouija boards thing either. I've heard that they can be dangerous to mess with but I know people who have messed around with them and what has happened? Nothing. Not to mention, people often say Ouija boards only bring up evil spirits but I have a hard time believing anything in life is ever evil so why should a spirit suddenly be evil?
