Yes, that would be a good start already...Not that it's going to happen anytime soon though.
I think they should, just for once, recreate the "Disney afternoon" show and see how audiences would follow. That could be interesting.

I'm just glad that they released most of the episodes on DVD so I can watch whatever episode I want, whenever I want. Now they just need to release the rest of the episodes with commentary from those who made the show.
I'm lucky that they made TaleSpin at all when they did... Disney has made some total garbage in the past 10 to 15 years. Some shows were so bad I couldn't believe they were Disney shows when I found out later.
TaleSpin is about the only cartoon I can still watch as an adult and not only enjoy it just as much but see it as "high art."

Quote: Disney has made some total garbage in the past 10 to 15 years. If you're refering to their series, yes, that's true and it's not getting better unfortunately. here-s-disney-new-animated-series-t29150.htmlSome of them were nice though (Timon & Pumba, Jungle Cubs, Lilo & Stitch), but clearly not as good as their first TV series. During the previous 10-15 years they did make very good animated films though, until 2003 with Brother Bear, then it went downhill with the CGI films. Quote: TaleSpin is about the only cartoon I can still watch as an adult and not only enjoy it just as much but see it as "high art." Yes, the more I watch the other Disney Afternoon TV series, the more I realize how different it is (and how great!) It really stands out among the other tv series they made - not as much as Gargoyles, but it would probably be at the second place.

Jungle Cubs and Timon & Pumbaa were okay, but they really lacked the creativity that came out of the original Disney Afternoon. I remember watching the pilot episode of the Jungle Cubs on the Saturday morning it premiered but I just couldn't get into it after TaleSpin. I liked how Jungle Cubs brought together the TS cast, though. You've got to be joking about Lilo & Stitch.
I was at a friend's house several years ago where that Brandy & Mr. Whiskers cartoon was on, however you spell it. As a mother, she was complaining about how the quality of cartoons had really declined over the years.
I don't really blindly follow animated cartoons; I'm a fan of TaleSpin and Ducktales because the writing was so good, I can still enjoy them 20 years later as an adult. I can't really do that with any other cartoons. The creative teams on each were pretty dialed into writing material that wasn't bounded within the limits of a cartoon; a lot of the material appealed to adults as well as children.

I take that back, Jungle Cubs was pretty much crap. Just a paint-by-numbers production that simply took the Jungle Book characters and made them kids. Now I remember why I didn't like it when I first saw it.
In comparison, TaleSpin took three Jungle Book characters, invented the rest, created a sandbox of a world, then gave us an anime-influenced series.
The creative team was actually CREATIVE. They took an idea and RAN with it.

I can't really do that with any other cartoons. The creative teams on each were pretty dialed into writing material that wasn't bounded within the limits of a cartoon; a lot of the material appealed to adults as well as children. I found that with Jungle Cubs that it was boring and felt like an E/I show. There was basically no heat, even negative heat. I would have said: Who gives a darn and simply walked away from it. Quack Pack was terrible; but it had the heat; even if it was the wrong type of heat since it ticked off Ducktales fans to no end. Lilo & Stich was actually good mainly because they stayed on course like they did with Aladdin and Little Mermaid The Series. No ground broken; no flirts, just the original product scaled down to television. Uncreative perhaps; but also stable. As for Brandy & Mr. Whiskers: I never understood the point of trying to be like Spongebob SquarePants here. Brandy is like the worse parts of Mr. Karbs and Squidward; while Whiskers is the worst parts of Spongebob and Patrick Star. Seriously; a rabbit smelling his feet?! I can understand Brandy being a jerk (heck look at early episodes of Rebecca on Disney Channel back before the show went into syndication); but the smelling the feet jokes really deflated any good graces I could have had with the show. And there was lots to criticize with Brandy & Mr. Whiskers. It was on par with Teamo Surpemeo. Ducktales actually could have been on par with TaleSpin's greatness if Ducktales didn't have Bubba The Cave Duck exist (Seriously guys; in his origin episode he sings and dances in a classroom High School Musical style. ) and just played the Gizmo Duck angle to the hilt. And Wang Films is terrible when trying to do cartoon spots that Ducktales liked to do here and there. Which explains why TaleSpin's animation wasn't so cartoony: It was used to hide Sun Woo and Wang Films' bad animating skills as a whole. I don't see TaleSpin as high art anymore because it hasn't had that much time to gel. I'm willing to wait 100 years and refresh people's memories of DA than call it something that the creators did as a job. Jymn Magon and Mark Zaslove did TaleSpin as a job for entertainment; and they did a super job of pulling it off. They took what could have been a disgrace to the elitist snobs and they ran with it as much as they can. Sadly; Disney will never be able to pull that one off again for a long time.

My problem with Jungle Cubs was that I was comparing it to TaleSpin and it was a real regression for me. TaleSpin was creative development whereas Jungle Cubs to me was "oh, let's take the Jungle Book characters and make them young!"
There was a real sharp decline in the creativity and quality with Disney cartoons in the mid 90s on up. I'm lucky to have grown up with shows like DuckTales and TaleSpin.
I didn't even watch Brandy & Mr. Whiskers enough to make a comparison. I just knew it was ******.
What's funny about DuckTales is that before the second season started (after the first 65 episodes) they asked Tad Stones to come up with some new characters for the show. He was busy with Rescue Rangers development so he just drew three stereotypical characters and sent that to the writers. The two used was Bubba and Gizmoduck, which I don't think the writers developed more but I haven't seen that show in a while. I agree, I didn't like Bubba at all, I don't think anyone did.
DuckTales was watered down Barks but it was still a great show. Just shows you how good Barks was (and later Rosa).
What's funny about that is TaleSpin seemed to have been made under a rush during development.

To me, Jungle cubs, Lilo & Stitch or Quack pack weren't as good as the first Disney animated series, but they were still much better than THESE... Because honestly, can they make something worse than that? Attachment: t-KickButtowski.jpg

Truth be told, they are all so bad that it doesn't matter to me that Quack Pack is better than any of them. That's like saying cow poop is better than horse poop.

I watched their newest animated series:Fan-boy and Chum-Chum, I felt my IQ drop during their theme song.

I grew up watching Tale Spin on cable. I was like 6-7 (1996-1997), and LOVED the show. I memorised every detail I could. The Seaduck was a Conwing L-16, with twin Superflight 100 Engines. Built a little while before the series started, making the Seaduck an older plane than most, but definitly more reliable. And after studying real planes of the era, the Seaduck's Overdrive (seen in Plunder and Lightning) was definitly a realistic feature. Some planes had water/ethenol/alcahol injection systems for emergency boosts of speed.
Plus, the Seaduck is my charator's plane in a few RP's on another forum called World of Feila. In any 1930's role plays, the old reliable Conwing L-16 is the best aircraft for most needs.
