Jacob whimpered and tugged at his rope. He lifted himself onto his hind paws and barked as he tried desperatly to get free. Come on! I've learned my lesson! I'm pody trained and I listen all the time! I promise I'll never chew up a couch again just come home! His barks grew more and more feable until they ceased to exist. He let himself fall on all four paws and looked through the gate sadly. Come home... His eyes hardened and he turned away angrily. If his people didnt want him, he didn't need them! He was fine on his own. His stomach rumbled. Man, he was hungry. He had to get out of here. He growled and started pulling against the rope, pulling himself further than before wiht every pawstep. He yanked himself free. "Yes!" He squeazed through the fence and raced onto the empty street. "I'm free!" He tipped his head back and howled.

Emuku clawed at the empty street floor as he walked. His boy had been murdered and the father had been to sad to keep him. Not to mention his boy was the only one who ever cared for him. He glance down at his black bandana, the last thing he ever got form his boy. Emuku made a prosime to himself right there. He promised that he would never take it off, he would keep it as a reminder of his boy, until he too died.

His heart heavy Ari moved on the rough road tearing at his decicate pamepered paws, the paws of a dog that had only walked on fine carpet and mowed lawn. He wandered through the empty streets feeling so alone as he saw some homes with dogs sitting with their loving familes wacthing their glow box or sitting by a crackling fire. As Ari walked he trained his eyes to the ground. Suddley a blinding light shot into his vision and a wrecthed smell of smoke burst into his nose. Frightned to a point of shock Ari dove into a wet darkned allyway. His heart beating against his chest Ari sat. His ears perked as he heard the cick of another dogs nails. Ari tensed ears errectic.

Emuku turned around. He heard anotherdogs paw steps. But he also heard a dog's howl for help. One thing at a time. Emuku thought. " Who's there?" he called into the ally.

Jacob heard the howl and pricked his ears. A reply? He raced after it. He reached a fence and squeazed through it. He saw Roxie and looked up, ears pricked. "Who are you?" He cocked hsi head, confused. Could it eb true that he wasn't the only one that had been abandoned? "Did your family leave?" It was a long shot but... possible..

Ari's muscles tensed his hair prickling down his spine. "Ari." The barked in a mannor not so much of daring the other to make a move but stating that he was merley curious. He rasied his gliseting nose to take in this new animals smell. It was a dog that smelled of rotting and dark things something Ari had never encoutnered. It frightined him slightly but also midly intergiued him.

"I'm Jacob. My family abandoned me too." Fury blazed in his eyes at the mention of his tratorous family. He looked up at teh sound of tires. He crouched low. "Is that your fmaily or the pound?" he hissed quietly.

Emuku walked closer to the dog. No he walked closer to Ari. His bandana felt like it was hugging his chest. And that made Emuku more confondint

"We gotta get otu of here," Jacob whispered. He started to knaw at teh ropes binding her to the house. "We gotta get out," he muttered as he gnawed. Teh ropes were thick and it was hard tog et them off. He stopped and looked at her. "Help me!"
