I saw Balto for the first time about a month ago, and I'm pretty far from being a kid these days. I had always wanted to see it, just never got around to it. But I saw it was coming up on HBO HD and I set my DVR to record it.

As far as the impression it made on me.... well I'm here, aren't I? To be entirely honest, it made me feel like I haven't felt in years. There's something about a real love story that can shake you to your core, and that's what it did to me. I thought the movie was beautifully animated and scored, and I was enjoying it like a normal person until that first scene with Balto and Jenna, when Balto saves Rosy's hat. He brings it to Rosy, and she remarks about how he's just showing off to a pretty girl, and Balto and Jenna look at each other and smile... whoa. Yeah, that did it.

And it only got better from there, you know the scenes I'm talking about. Under the boiler room "Yeah... beautiful", When Jenna lies on him to keep him warm, when she gives him her bandanna and nuzzles his face, and at the end on the porch when she's in love with him. That's what it's all about for me.

Wow. That was a long time ago. I don't remember what I felt the first time, but I do remember acting the movie out with my dog, family, friends, and anyone else I could get my hands on XD I have always loved the Disney movies with animals instead of princesses, like The Lion King and The Aristocats, but my favorite animals were always dogs, so I guess Balto was perfectly suited to me, and after that, I was also into wolves. I remember loving Balto especially, and really feeling bad for him in the first part of the movie.

Also, I was too young to get the love story woven into the movie, and I had to ask my mom what Boris meant when he said, "I'm seeing a few things, too...and it's making the ice melt," among other totally obvious things like that XD

(In case you're interested, I had a limit as to how many times I could watch Balto per day. That seems pretty scary to me. )

So yeah, that pretty much sums up my Balto experience :D

It gave me an impression that even though that people tell that you can't do it, you can do anything with your heart. wiggle.gif

I was lucky enough to see it for the first time twice.

I first saw it when I was six or seven. It easily became my favoirte moive and all I ever wanted to see when my mom asked me which movie I wanted to see. I could remember drawing countless pictures of Balto and the gang, but I never got around to making him look good.

For the longest time, I stopped watching the movie around seven years old and did not get to seeing it again till I was sixteen. Watching a movie like Balto now that my spirituality has been explored is an eye-opening experince. Seeing how Balto carried himself and treated others made me think, that's what I want to be. I want to be as good a man as Balto was as good a dog. I think that alot of people can learn a very valuable lesson from Balto, especially at an older age.
