I like this suggestion too. Anyway, what's the point of keeping locked topics? They should be deleted.

Someone (I can't remember who, but it was a staffer) told me that they kept locked topics to prevent confusion as to why their topic disappeared. Although, the PM idea might work out well, if the mods think they have the time. BUT, I do think that old locked topics should be deleted...maybe after 4 days of it being locked?

I actually think a week - week and a half would be better. That way it gives time for members to see the topic is locked.
Obviously if the topic was just a short post with not much in it or spam it wouldn't need that but I also think topics with over 1-2 pages should be kept for reference.

It would make sense to keep the longer, more in depth ones. They usually have some use and meaning if members bothered to comment up to a page or two long. As for the week-week and a half : I wasn't really thinking ^^' Cause I come on the forums at least onces a day, but usually more than that. (unless something important comes up). But now that I think about it, not everyone has the means to getting on every day XD So, yeah, a week~week and a half would be better. XD

Problem is, a Moderagtor would have to delete it manually (I think, not 100% on the Mod panel), but it cannot be done automaticly, unless good old steet comes up with a script to do this, it cannot be done under phpBB terms as steet said.

It's easy enough to delete a few topics, just take an hour or so and go through the old pages etc. would take a few days but is easily done. I don't like the idea of an automatic one...can't control which it deletes and of course there's no way to get a topic back after it's deleted.

Mohammad891 wrote: Yes there is one way of deleting topics automatically which is pruning but its very risky and if at any time the settings is set wrong it may remove all the topics which werent suppose to be removed as well and as UK pointed once deleted cant be brought back. So its very unwise to use an automatic system. especially since its has no specific or precise setting. No, pruning is a little diffrent, when you prune, you say 'delete topics that have not been posted in for' lets say 200 days, well, infact there is no option for it too be 'delete locked topics'

Yep ^^ Since I own a phpBB3 Now! forum I searches the admin panel, and yet, the pruning system for locked topics is not there. This is why I may suggest it. But still, it depends, on the evedence thing...

Infact I just said it may be a good idea, but it couldn't be done, but somhow most of my comments gradually change.
