I'm 18 and I see this most of the time on here. I don't see why people make a big difference about age but they do and the people that do are immature themselves for thinking that way.

Yup, and if you tell that to someone doing it, most of the time they'll adamantly deny it, or go on a rampage. Which is hilarious to see, IMO.

i belive deni is referring to how they judge teens as whole (large amount of them). they look at all of them, and if the majority are annoying, adults get that implanted in thier little brains. in this case, one would be a minority and two would be the majority. Now do you get it?

Well, firstly, Claymore is not Deni.

Second, that interpretation is faulty. I know that I, as an adult, do not look at every single teenager on the planet based upon the immaturity, inanity or even idiosynchracies of any portion of them. Nor do I know that many other adults who actually see them all that way.

To think that adults view teenagers that way is not only a gross misrepresentation of the adult mindset about teenagers, but an entirely unfair viewpoint. And that belief is without merit by that reason.

Ahem... I know I made myself hard to understand...
I will give you an example.

David (a randomely picked name) has stolen a wallet once. - You won't be going around him and claiming that he is a thief for the rest of his life.

David (a randomely picked name) has stolen a wallet twice - Now, I am almost sure, everyone would be like: OMG, David is a dirty thief! He steals every time he gets the chance to.

Clear?

So when you meet 10 teens and 1 of them is witty, clever and cool whereas the rest is kinda dumb, I believe you will say that teenagers are stupid...

oooor.... When two or three homeless people beg you for some money, you will think that all homeless persons are beggars who do nothing but annoy others.

It is called: generalization...

Exactly. That's what happens when one says "all teenagers are stupid" which singles them all out. Whether that was the intention or not, they've still said it, or even hinted at it. By saying "most teenagers are dumb" they only single out a small group of them, therefore avoiding the mess. Claiming all of them are that way is an unwarranted, immature attack that displays exactly what this rant is pointing out.

Once again...I think this is overanalyzation, and generalizing the other way around.

I wasn't over analyzing, I was going off an "as said" basis. Meaning: I'm looking at what was said, not what was meant, since "what was meant" really doesn't work, being that you may not know what the person's intentions are.

I was referring to you and Claymore, actually. And as I see it, it is over-analyzing. Besides, one of the greatest (or worst, actually) problems on this site, in its various sections, is the tendency of people to second-guess others, and presume they know what the heck they are talking about, rather than taking the frickin' time to actually ASK (or think it through). The result is about at least 80% of the fights, flaming and "he said/she said" or one-upmanship so prevalent on this forum and in the shoutbox.

That's the primary reason that it's advisable to keep a close watch over what's said, and avoid saying things that could offend. Being it opinion or not. As you know, communities like this are more volatile then Nitroglycerin.

That's true. But the reverse is also true...that volatile personalities should keep watch over their tempers as well, and not fall into the bad habit of reading into statements and drawing quick and erroneous conclusions.

It's all about balance, Alpine. You can't have one without the other.

This is true, which is why I attempt to accommodate everyone who needs it, without going around looking like a complete suck-up, or a snob.

Just remember, just because your'e older doesn't mean you are more mature.
I'm not directing this to a comment on here but, rather rapping up what should be said in my opinion.
Just like when they say you have to be a certain age to do things. I agree with this sometimes but other times I'm like "UHHH....just because you're older doesn't mean you are more mature and/or smart. " Trust me. I've seen alot more adults than I'd like to,be immature.
I know we as humans aren't perfect and we all judge people, deny it or not, but if you can't be mature don't ask for it back and don't judge a kid based off what another kid did.
Theres alot of good kids out there who do the right thing in life and may even be more responsible than you.

I guess it just depends on how you interpret someones usage of steryotyping because like me for instance. I really can't stand alot of little kids. I really Really don't like them. However, just because I say that doesn't mean I hate them ALL. There is alot of exceptions I have like my cousins and some children I've seen who were very good with and without their parents keeping a serious eye on them.
See,but If i didnt explain myself you would get the impression I hate all children.

I guess adults just get frustrated sometimes with our I dont care attitude and dissrespect and drama because they had to go through it before and probably don't feel like dealing with it again.
you see?

Very nicely said, Rosetta.

I think there is something that many of you have missed. The thing is, it isn't a matter of "most teenagers are spammers" but of "most spammers are teenagers".
